If you're getting in a tizzy about whether a video game will be cancelled or not, it's maybe time to have a serious talk with yourself.

 

They may give all their customers a free route of their choice for Christmas.

Just to keep you on tenterhooks the additional content is class 175 added to the Plymouth / Penzance section of GWR enjoy!

 

About the only thing that might change, and would be a positive for most of us, is indeed that the update has been incorporated into an extension of the original route to Oxford and/or TV branches and as a result will now be a paid product. This I would most definitely welcome as, 1. It would reward Liam for the many hours spent on the project and, 2. It would turn GWE into what the route should have been to start with.

 

The era they chose already messed things up. Anything before 2015 or if they waited till 2017 or after to do the route would’ve been better.

 

Why come across as an alleged victim with a chip on his shoulder because you’re a console player?
Perhaps because you know you’re getting a fraction of what pc players are going to be getting in the future. No mods either!
Stip gaslighting as a victim and admit consoles just don’t have the computing power for this game going forward. On top of thought a lot of console players just want simple trains and most pc players want complex trains.
You might get cheap likes from your console buddies, but let’s face it you’re pretty much stuffed so you need to take it out on someone, right?
Now I’ve got better things to do than argue with the likes of you because I worked hard and saved up for a good pc and I’m loving this game.

 

If console is stuffed then so is TSW as a whole. DTG will not get to a stage where they cut off two thirds of their playerbase. Financially it's suicidal and the game as you love it now wouldn't be the same if they got rid of consoles.

Also generalising that people on console want simpler stuff just isn't true.

Us peasant console players will be getting the already delayed GTA6 before you almighty PC players so we will see who's doing the whinge and whining when that's released...

Yet again, Gen9 consoles have perfectly capable hardware for complex games. I don't need to go round in circles with it either. The comments on this thread already exist. But I think the snobbery and attitude coming off of you in regards to console players is quite over the top. To say people are playing victims? Listen to yourself! The only thing going on is your snobby attitude. That's just out of order quite frankly.

I have no grudges against most PC players, I don't have a problem with Xbox players, or Playstation players. If the item is sold to work on our devices then it should work as such. And I'm confident after the most recent roadmap live stream DTG are finally going to try and plough through all the core issues causing problems on consoles. Then we will see in the flesh it is perfectly capable hardware...

If it wasn't for consoles, who bring in the most income I believe, the game wouldn't be as strong or as big as it is... You can call us what you want, but we make up the majority of the players.

Back on the topic of GWE Remaster, I'm so excited for Mondays little teaser, a full 10 minute preview... Looking to be a VERY tasty remaster!

 

GWE was TSW's first passenger route, first UK route, first route with stations, passengers, coaches with interiors and operating doors, first with safety systems, and first with a major bespoke asset (Paddington). 32 miles was plenty ambitious for the first attempt

The era they chose was very deliberate- the last hurrah of the HST as Queen of the Mainline. Later you'd just get flying cucumbers; earlier poses all the problems of vintage routes. As it was they could reproduce the route exactly as it was when they surveyed it.

DTG does have a yen for 'historic preservation;' they deliberately set Main-Spessart in the last days of the Ramp right before it was bypassed.

 

To bring in a totally different angle on the pc vs. console discussion. I´m suprised there are so many players on console. Because most of the players will be males and/or train nerds/technical nerds. When I was growing up, all those kind of guys had a PC at home for gaming. To be honest, every male I knew growing up had a PC. It´s also great for watching shows, movies, researching, working or just browsing the net. I would not want to live without a desktop pc and most males I know (no matter what age) feel the same way. If you love TSW and gaming, just safe up for a PC? You won´t regret it.

 

There is a HUGE difference - especially in price - between a PC you can use for websurfing, spreadsheets, email and watching videos, and the high-horsepower, high-dollar monster needed for satisfactory gaming (which then has to be continually upgraded). I would say that most every console gamer owns a modest desktop or laptop PC. and probably has less invested in that and the console combined than a latest-and-greatest gaming PC would cost.

 

If other companies can make high quality racing game massive open world RPGs other sim games. That work perfectly on consoles. What the hell is the problem with TSW. All we seem to get is excuse after excuse.

 

There is a thread in the forums on oldest TSW player, turns out alot of us are also in our 60's and 70's who are playing the game.

I for one born in 53 never had a personal computer in my life. It was after my time so for me the ease of a plug and play system is why I choose a console.

I hate PC's.

 

Okay, I get it. It´s not for everyone. I would not want to play this game without all the layers and great mods like Winzartens weather app. I´m not saying everyone needs to get a pc and consoles are bad. I´m just saying I feel it´s the better experience... not feel, it´s fact at this point in TSW history. No blurry textures, no missing layers and loads of great mods.
I also agree that the game is badly optimised. We feel that on PC also....

 

Do we really have to have yet another thread degenerate into PC vs console players? Can we not all accept that everybody, regardless of the platform they're on, wants the game to look and play as well as their hardware is able to?

I don´t care what words your throw at me... your little politics game won´t work with me. I made one post about PC´s and people are flipping out. Unlike others, I´ve never joined in on the discussion before and I´m sorry that people are getting triggered by past discussions, that I had nothing to do with. So, how much of the player base is female? Have you got the stats on that? I´m sure it´s very low...that´s just a fact of life and nothing to do with "sexism" and since when is owning a pc elitist?

Train Sim Classic has not 'ceased to exist' and it's PC only.

 

I must have missed when that was released on consoles.

 

We will all know what the special surprise is at 6pm tomorrow night.

For me it would be fantastic, if they were to announce along with the GWR remaster, an expansion of the route to include all the Thames Branch lines and a new terminus at Oxford.

Now that would be a great surprise and a wonderful Christmas present.

 

But TSC was never built around the income generated by console sales. TSW was made because of that console revenue and there are a lot of 3Ps coming across because of that too.

Back on the subject of the GWE Remaster, one of the things I'm also excited about is the suspension physics and GSMR being added to the HST and 166... Not only will I be able to enjoy that on GWE, but also on the Riveria Line. Funny how such little things can make a difference!

 

Suspension physics is something I would like to be ported back to every train, it is the one thing I notice missing when driving older stock. I realise it would be a lot of work but it would be nice to see. Definitely looking forward to having it on the HST and 166.

 

I do respect your opinion and some points I firmly agree with as I also own a PC and game on it sometimes.
The appeal for console (PS5 Pro) is convenience. It’s easy to set up and play. I’m also heavily invested in the PlayStation ecosystem. I love chasing platinum trophies on other games.


I also own about 90% of all content on there (shy of a few cargo packs and few newest routes).
I also like the comfort of sitting down on my sofa in the living room, playing on a big screen (65 inch TV) versus playing on a small monitor/desk set up.

I know people will make the argument that you can just hook up your PC to your TV, in reality that rarely happens. Are PC players willing to sacrifice their 165 or 240hz refresh rate for 60 or 120hz on their TV? I doubt it. I also hooked my PC to my TV at some point, but you lose so much detail in the picture.
Gaming on PC is mostly used for games that I can’t buy on console, especially indie horror games. I was playing the lightkeeper and homeless a few weeks ago. Jump scares galore.

 

In my case getting a proper PC setup is a goal, but I don't and, for the entirety of TSW's lifecycle I haven't had one nor the chance to get one and, given how much content I have on console, I'll probably stick to Xbox (Series X).

Until recently I found the experience on Xbox to be really good and on less intensive routes where the blurring issue in particular doesn't occur it's still true. It's just ruining it on newer routes, but otherwise I'm good with Xbox personally.

 

Just curious: which platinum is going to be number 1,000?

 

It would be great, but Liam has said right from the start that he is making no changes to the route at all: just rolling stock upgrades, cosmetics and timetable. Remember, this is an on-his-own-time passion project, not something with a dev team assigned. If it were,, it wouldn't be free.

 

Even if it turns out something was changed with the route, his statement there is still correct if he indeed didn’t make the changes himself..

So we're getting some gameplay footage and news about GWE, Reckon the surprise is something FGW? Or a 180 which could layer on ecml . Possibly 91 for ECML if we're being realisticly over ambitious

If it is GWE related then I suspect GW branded class 387's. I suspect it is something probably not particularly exciting, although whatever it is might be to some.

 

I have 1692 platinums currently. That’s trophy level, max is LV999.
I’m currently working on Earth Defence Force 6 and want to start Clair Obscur Expedition 33 soon

 

The only real announcement that would make a difference to me, is knowing First Group have allowed for the GWE & FGW to be used in game.

Outside of that, I think any expectation of the 'little gift' being anything more than that is only leading others to their own disappointment. As I've said numerous times, the surprise should be the release date of GWE and nothing more than that!

I feel like it would be something FGW, if it is I hope we see thr dynamic lined HSTs not just the plain purple ones, while I say this I have a feeling it be with the GWE remaster directly rather it be included with Liams HST pack

 

I really hope it is. Love both FGW Blue and GWR Green. Would provide great variety visually. Maybe DTG were working on a backdated Riviera Line set in 2017/2018? I'm probably getting my hopes up to high.
