Ha I guess it’s an unhealthy amount, been getting them since the PS3 era, so 2008/09 roughly I started.

Expedition 33 has been in my backlog for many months now, and seeing as it won GOTY recently it’s made me want to start it even more.

Here is the post I was referring to - Alex mentions no more core updates, but I missed this 'core' part. Thank you for flagging - hopefully this does mean we may get GWE before the new year [fingers crossed]

No way we get a licensed GWR 387 for free IMO. Would have to be a paid add on surely. That's the only reason I can think DTG don't want to add the unbranded 387 to the route.

The thing is, the surprise if its related to gwe at all, can't be a branded GWR 387, in my opinion, since I agree with the post a few above that says it's unlikely they'd brand it for free, and the surprise is supposedly not a new announcement

It was going to be free as it was an unbranded version of what is basically the wrong subclass. Just a GX 387/2 reskinned as an unbranded GWR 387/1.

Things come to those who wait!

Lets see what the announcement holds in just under 5 hours!

Tbh I'm hoping this article is for Preston-Crewe in all honesty but wouldn't hate it being for GWE or Liam's HST pack!

All of the unbranded 387s plus the 350 and 484 liveries are still coming. Just the 387s won't have a layer as I wanted to leave room in the timetable incase a licenced GWR 387 comes in the future.

The majority of us understand that.

I think the possibility of a branded 387 will increase in the next 12 months, not only because the GWR licence has been renewed, but also the GWR branding will hopefully become DfT owned next year when the franchise goes back into government hands and the branding is inherited by them. Given DTG also have a great relationship with the DfT we can only hope it will allow an official 387!

On a side note, I've always wondered who actually owns the rights to the grouping GWR branding? or if First Group got permission to use the brand from whoever owns the 1923 - 1947 GWR brand.

Regardless, the interior and exterior would have at least been made accurate

That still sounds a bit poor. What difference would leaving out the 387 in the timetable make if hypothetically it were to be in the timetable at some point.

The problem with adding the unbranded 387's from London Brighton to the new timetable is if a branded GWR 387 pack came along, then those London Brighton 387's would have to be replaced with the new GWR 387's, which means I'm taking away playable services from players and forcing them to buy a new pack to get those services back.
You could have substitution set up on the London Brighton 387's to auto swap to the new GWR 387's, but then that means players will need to own both London Brighton and the GWR 387 pack to play those timetable services.

What if - just spitballin' here - you created a layer for 387s which, in the base route, has a substitution percentage for unbranded BML 387s set to, say, 1%- but since that is the only train assigned to that layer, it will still spawn on all services. But if a new branded 387 comes along, it could be assigned to that same layer with a spawn probability of 99%, so that those players who have it will always get the new ones. (Okay, maybe 1 in 100 would be the old one)

How was this done with the Isambard Kingdom Brunel 47 from the ECML Diesel Railtour Pack? It always shows up separately in loco selector and I have never seen it appear as a substitute.

Or the training centre locos? They exist in the game but never substitute for a real 66 or 323.

Looks fantastic! Visually has to be one of the best routes coming to TSW!!

With the route being set in probably my favourite GW era with the mix of FGW/GWR and Turbos, I think it will be a strong contender for my most played route next year.

It looks good and busy, however I'm afraid for blurry textures and crashes on console

The new track singing feature made such a difference to gameplay when I heard it. A marvellous improvement it has to be said! The immersiveness of it really is something else.

    Will be interesting to see.

The original runs quite well obviously, so really depends what they updated to make it more resource hungry.

For the consoles, it probably won’t come with everything that has been shown. It will likely have to be stripped down a bit to avoid issues. All the route improvements will be in but probably won’t have the full timetable.

I am on PS5, so I hope this is not the case. And I haven't seen any mention of a reduced timetable to date so until then I'll presume we will get the 'full fat timetable'. I'd be disappointed if not!

TOD4 lighting, better vegetation and a huge timetable, so all ingredients are there. Koln - Aachen with revamped timetable crashes already without an update to the route itself and I was even missing quite some layers.

There is no mention of a reduced timetable and if I remember correctly, Liam said somewhere here, he was aiming for the full experience on console.

Seems better, nice to see improved AI stock incorporated in, such as CrossCountry. Undetermined on what SWR operate but expected EMT 158s like in western route (2026 Core).

2x new stations are these runable stations or AI use only, going for AI as their isn't any route available for them to be driveable, unless I am wrong.

Ealing Broadway recieved an extention, brilliant, had hoped previous edition would have had signage for tube lines, like Bakerloo platforms in game.

Might even see a route hop in Paddington to Bakerloo route, or vice versa. Noting Bakerloo has no reference to other tube lines in its route, in Paddington or elsewhere.

I take it Heathrow Express is AI only too due to no stations served avaliable.

The 2 new stations, Westbourne Park and Royal Oak, are now proper stations (they were only scenery both) and are playable with the Circle and Hammersmith & City line services using the Class 484.

The 2 route hops in Paddington do indeed include 1 for the Underground to Bakerloo and another for national rail services to Cardiff and Riviera.

Without confirming anything, testing on both console and PC using the same timetable with all layers on has been positive. As always there is still some optimization to be done to improve the experience.

Sounds good but this also sounds like the texture issue could potentially be a thing as well though.
Either way you have done an amazing job and the hard work has certainly paid off. Thank you ever so much for this I hope your efforts are recognised.

Thank you for keeping us upto date!

Well done on implementing the rail singing to, it makes quite the difference. It's a bit like the suspension physics, we didn't know how good it was until it was implemented and now we have it, it's the little things that make the biggest difference sometimes.
