Times are changing, lot of stuff nowadays is done on smartphones. Younger people are even more tend to to do everything smartphones. Back in the the day I had a gaming pc, but for several reason I switched to console: not wanting to deal with hardware upgrades, drivers, trying to getting it to work and home space.

Consoles are just simple devices, turn on tv and console and play your game. No worries about settings and Windows updates. I even don't use Windows anymore for years, so if I switch to gaming on PC it will be something like the Steam machine or other Linux based PC.

Your view is clearly dated and from the past. Consoles are a fairly cheap option to start gaming, while PC components are pretty expensive. Look what happened with graphics cards due to coin mining and look what happens now with memory because of AI. Console prices will alo increase due to memory prices, so we have to see how this turns out in the future.

Is this on X-box? I have had no crashes there on PS5 recently.

Same here. Keeping a PC running and up to date is just too much of a hassle. Not necessarily a money issue (at least not for me).

Yes on Xbox, it crashes on both Series S and X and for months already. When it was released on Xbox by accident to early, I had no issues, but after I few (game) updates it started crashing and it has never been fixed, despite bug reports and posts here on the forum.

    Yep, me too.

Nothing at all to do with money, and everything to do with simplicity, compatibility and ease of use.

Point was they knew about problems before releasing but still released it unlike the remaster that’s been in the works for nearly two years and also it was probably the old system that broke the route in the first place instead of just being the new timetable

At first I didn't have crashes on SKA, this started later, so I can't say they knew it. Fact is, they still didn't solve it.

A bit of question is, has the concourse been made accessible or it's still the sorry state before remaster? It doesn't even have the bear!

It all looks amazing, although I was hoping for a bit more effort with the article! I thought we’d get lots of screen shots, breakdown of services and other info on what’s been changed (similar to most articles). I’m interested in how Paddington has changed, closer look at some of the additions and especially the service patterns. I really hope it gets what it deserves before and during release.

No, most likely the earliest date we get for the release will be week commencing 5th January; it's too soon after the new year to start releasing content again

Hopefully this comes soon along with 125 pack. I really hope they use the Armstrong Powerhouse sound set with the screaming rear unit.

MTUs operated in 2016 on the GWML so probably no screaming engines. Best bet is Midland Mainline.

Yep, concourse is opened up a lot more with a reworked interior to better match the real station. You can also find 2 route hop points here for the Underground and National Rail routes.
As for the bear himself, I went for the legally safe option of Paddington Donkey to take place where his statue should be.

I know not possible but would have been so epic if you could have got permission for the bear himself

Releases at DTG usually happen on a Tuesday or Thursday. Typically a preview stream on Tuesday followed by a Thursday release.

So I'd estimate 7th of January or 9th of January for release? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :D

When it says "Released in the new year", I hope that means very early January, rather than February or March! One can hope!

Any chance of a last second remaster on Cardiff Central concourse lol? :D

Seriously though, this looks amazing from the showcase and I love the idea of a Paddington donkey! Can't wait to see the content you come up with as a 3P dev :D

Very impressed with the rail ‘singing’. These are the kind of additions which really help with building an immersive environment. DTG could have given us this instead of random train faults!

Catching up with this thread since the GWE:R video came out and just wanted to say thank you for all the kind words I've seen here. It means a lot to see so many players react this way to the reveal and I can't wait for you all to get your hands on it very soon :)

Can ask 2 questions. the 10 min video was sped up it looked like everything was in fast forward and is there any new scenarios. And thanks for doing this for free i appreciate it.

It was sped up for the video, and no new scenarios in the remaster. The HST Farewell pack will have new scenarios for both GWE and Riviera but that is a paid addon.

Is it just getting face-lift then the old scenarios? Will we get new audio lines?

Has a new class been slipped in as well? Not seen anyone comment on the 2 car Turbos seen in the showcase. I thought the 166's were all 3 car with about half the 165's being 2 car. GWE_165.jpg

It's a cheat that's always been in since it was announced. Liam's using 2-car 166s to represent the 2-car 165s.

Do the 166 destination boards work? They all look blank in the video.

I don’t use a pc I have a top of the range gaming laptop which solves all issues of space. It has a decent sized screen and sits on my lap so it’s nice and close. It also doubles up for work, I’ve yet to see a console on which you can work and run a word processor etc. so unlike those things it’s a true multi tasking tool.
All this talk of upgrading drivers and graphics cards is nonsense imo - I’ve never had to upgrade either that I can remember. Actually being able to upgrade is an advantage anyway as I see it.
The performance is red hot especially as I transferred all my ram from my old one onto it. It literally loads the game in seconds.
I can use every mod under the sun too. I don’t see the point of going backwards to a console when I’m not interested in any other games on them. They are the poor relation of the pc when it comes to TSW that has been proven beyond doubt and only the odd die hard console addict would think otherwise.

I went the same way, the MSI gaming laptop I had my eye on was available for a grand off on Black Friday so I bit the bullet. I've added an extra 2Gb hard drive I had to hand and I can upgrade the 32Gb memory to 96 if I ever need to, but I don't expect I'll need to upgrade the processor or graphics card at all within the next ten years (and I wouldn't want to, on a laptop).

Before then I had a desktop that I first put together in 2005 and kept upgrading over the years (used the same case for 20 years), but a desktop PC with its monitors and speakers does take up a fair bit of space even when you're not using it, whereas the laptop I just fold and put away. I'm even tempted to leave it permanently attached to the TV and use a wireless keyboard and mouse in addition to my headphones. All the convenience of a console without any of the limitations. The ability to use mods and tweaks is the real deal-breaker for me, though.

And I say this as someone who played on consoles from the mid-90s to the 2010s, with five of them still warmly tucked into the TV unit.

Back on topic though, the remaster is looking absolutely fantastic and I'm loving the inclusion of two different types of tube stock, fake 166s (presumably), and the HST liveries from the FGW / GWR transition era! Really looking forward to it, particularly as I put many, many hours into my own GWML Extension along with Keith Ross, a certain Kariban and a few other contributors back in the TSC days (never finished it, sadly).

Remaster does look good, I’m looking forward to this as the original seems so incredibly dated now!

apologies if it’s been asked, what’s the timetable like?

also, are there going to be the blurry texture issues?

Does that mean we might get an 802 livery featuring Paddington the Donkey, as per the Paddington Bear one?

I don’t think it’s right to presume there are going to be blurry textures just because some developers don’t know how to optimise their product. I don’t own B2C, but I’ve not even experienced the issue with any of my other routes on PS5

No presumptions being made. It was a question. If the issues can’t be avoided then so be it. However, I’m just curious as to whether or not this route will succumb to the issues most of the others seem to.

I don’t know about Xbox, but running PS5 I can say I’ve never had this issue on Tees Valley, ECML, WCML, Blackpool Branches, Preston-Carlisle, Riviera….And guess what? It’s never been an issue on GWE either.

I literally have no idea how you are not seeing the blur issue on these routes (except TV) if you have all layers enabled.

Unless PS really is a million miles away from Xbox performance.

Stuttering is the only issue, but that has been an ever-present since Train Sim Classic 20+ years ago.
