Evening all Recently i have really got into texturing the assets ive been making im now able to set up normal maps etc, now im looking into if its worth baking textures for basic scenery objects such as houses etc, if so what would be the procedure and what shader would i use? The reason i ask is because my assets still look a bit bright compared to the professional assets they seem not to interact with any light within the ts editor and have a slightly dull look to them, is this the result of texture baking? Thanks in advance
I use TexDiff for most items. I'll bake in shadows for those items I want to add detail to. Mainly track side buildings.
TexDiff is an outdated shader, I would use TrainBasicObjectDiffuse instead. TrainLightMapWithDiffuse is great for trackside buildings. The shadow map can have its own UV, so it is great if you want to use trim textures for example. https://the-art-of-rws.blogspot.com/2012/04/trainlightbumpspecmask.html
