That's kinda what I mean about the whole 3P development thing, it seems silly that developers can deny other devs from adding layers to products. It's not like doing so would mess with revenue split because you'd still require both DLCs from both companies and provided QA testing is good, then it should never really result in making a product worse and tarnishing anyone's names. As for seamless integration, yes this has happened on some routes but those situations are different from this. GWE is a DTG product so it makes sense that 3Ps have access to the raw TT for additions when making new stock. MML was made by Skyhook of course they'd directly integrate their own new content. There just needs to be more collaboration as eMAyTeeTee said or a team in place to facilitate this on behalf of 3P's.
I can understand it as a concern that the route dev would have no control and any edits may conflict with what that dev wants to do (although having said that it could be stipulated the route dev gets a say?). Either way just easier to ask the loco dev to do a separate timetable than work around their edits.
I would like to take focus away from the timetable momentarily and acknowledge the massive positives the Class 805 has to offer, and get back to some of the way more positive than negative stuff: The attention to detail that has gone into the the suspension and movements was really cool. Particularly the side swaying around corners, it really give an authentic feeling of motion at speed and has taken some man hours to perfect it. Really good. The sound set on both AC & Diesel was VERY sharp indeed. The traction motors were really sharp and spot on for the AT300 family and the way they have been implemented on the 805 is fantastic to say the least. I'm hoping there might be a small chance it can be rolled out to the 801 atleast. The complete rework of the interior and fittings was also incredibly spot on with an eye for detail. Again, not only was the sound sharp, but also the interior detail is spot on. It's not only going to overhaul WCMLS and draw players back in, but it's also got that complete new timetable for B2C. I don't think we've ever had a double timetable released? I really appreciate the time and effort that's gone into this and there are far more positives than there are negatives (which are easy to draw out more then they should be). My constructive criticism aside, this is going to revamp WCMLS and make it one of the most played routes for those who purchase the 805 on Tuesday. And for only £14.99 for the 805, and two new complete passenger timetables? It's a steal.
I think that was done by SamT? If so I'm not surprised, he's fantastic. His audio work is on par with, if not exceeds, Armstrong Powerhouse's audio on TSC in my opinion. I loved his 395 SP. Got me back into London Faversham High-speed for a good while when he released it.
Think you are over estimating a bit this isn’t a deal breaker for WCMLS giving the amount of the stock Avanti has you seem to type long paragraphs repeating yourself over and over as soon as anyone is less positive than you.
I feel it necessary to balance critical feedback with positivity, and I felt my original paragraphs highlighted more negative aspects more than positives one so I was trying to 'balance it out' so to speak. I'm not trying to block anyone elses opinions out at all or repeat myself. If you want to articulate the negativity and critical feedback about the 805, then please go ahead and be my guest and articulate that, I'm not going to stop you nor quote you on it. The room is yours, so please go ahead! I'm sorry that it may have come across like that, but I assure you that was not my intention at all.
I will reserve my judgement of the product until it is released then form my opinion. Jumped to quick on the route release which I won’t be doing again and waiting for feedback from players no streamers or ambassadors but users here who will give real honest reviews.
As a console user one thing I'm anticipating unfortunately is the blurring issues for the short term future. And again this is unfortunately a core issue rather than a developers issue. Lets just hope in a 6 month timeline that a remedy can be found to significantly improve that. That is atleast my hope.
I was originally going to ask if you would change your mind but re-reading it, it seems like you physically cant access the Class 90 to test it? If so that is a shame and it seems I won't be buying the 90 now since it will only have services on WCML south and no other routes?
I’m not starting a 3rd timetable so either the class 90 layers in on the 805 timetable or ill wait until both are released and decide which one I’m purchasing but it will be just one. Right now this constant additional timetable simply because 3rd parties refuse to work with each other is turning me off the game entirely, and the outlet of my frustrations is boycott purchasing in general
totally agree countless timetables for the same route is just silly. Have ONE and add to that cant be to hard surely
This is where timetables are failing completely for me. I already have 4 timetables for WCMLS. 2 of them (Fawx and OTS) are stunning. I've realised that I don't want or need another one, therefore I don't need the 805 until a modded timetable starts to use it. Likely it will be the same with the 90 and thats something I actully would like to see What I would like is a good scenario editor where, like TSC, some very talented people will write scenarios that use all the currently available stock. Maybe it's because I don't have as much time to play as some do, but I've never run out of scenarios to play on TSC. A lot of the time when I mention that I still prefer TSC, people raise the timetable as one of the big selling points, but unless 3rd parties and DTG start coordinating updates, I'm seeing it as a hindrance. It's even worse for console players that can't use mods and have to put up with whatever comes as standard.
Basically the same but I’m just automatically going for the class 90 since finally a new uk freight (I’m probably about to get so hate for this) And well the class 805 is just reskin of the other two IETs with the same boring driving experience
Have to disagree there. This has slowly being getting worse and worse since TSW4 and every route and edition of the game since has been progressively worse. But from the one of the theories, the way I understand it, it's the way trains on the map don't disappear even when they pass by or go off the map they stay stored. I think for the next 6 months atleast we can expect blurriness to be part of the TSW 'diet' until some conclusive alterations to the core can be achieved. I have confidence in DTG this time round as Matt seems really keen and enthusiastic to try and get on top of this since a large portion of the community have advocated for its improvement. So yeah, I'd like to think this won't suffer from blurriness, but I know that's unrealistic. But it is what it is for now... Hopefully it's bareable for the short term until the issue is sorted or atleast massively improved. Unfortunately this issue will be across the board until the get some form of resolution.
To be honest I may only buy loco packs which fit on modded timetables moving forwards, atleast these have a chance of being updated for future releases and broken/missing services fixed unlike the vanilla timetables which DTG/3rd parties deem acceptable for release and refuse to fix add on ever again. it wasn’t so bad when timetables atleast carried over progression on shared services. But for ever reason this seems to have been stopped for whatever reason.
A scenario is fixed, it's set in stone. The timetable mode offers more freedom of choice. There are other reasons to prefer TSW, but there are surely reasons to prefer TSC as well !
But was only raised as a serious issue with the Birmingham - Crewe route. I hope I am wrong here but I can see the 80X release having the same problem ie blurry textures as they have had to remove freight services to free up the timetable a bit. Hope I am wrong because the last thing the developers need is another release with problems.
Tbh I have been using TSC more than TSW recently. Yes TSW has a timetable however only so many times you can go up and down a route before it gets boring drive 5 services in timetable mode you soon get bored. Drive.5 scenarios in TSC on same route you are less bored as scenarios are created and can be different. Throw in the AP enhancement packs as well. And you have a fantastic looking sim. TSW just feels cold and bland compared to TSC in my opinion.
That was the case for me too until very recently. Fair point, but it's true for any simulator, and even more so the shorter the route. I experienced it acutely and unpleasantly irl when I was a bus and coach driver. That's not wrong, since scenarios are often specific situations. But we could say the same thing about 5 "awesome services" in TSW (and there are scenarios too, even if there's much less of them). It's funny, I would say the opposite and that could be taken as a criticism of TSW... The "cartoonish" global aspect, given the lighting, the flashy colors, I feel it's warmer. I remember someone here saying England looks like Australia... And thus, indeed, TSC often feels more realistic in this regard...
TSC is obsolete as far as I'm concerned. Without the AP packs it would have died years ago... It's essentially just a different variation of the original Rail Simulator from 2007. It's a subjective matter, but I think TSW has become a worthy successor. The timetable and free roam open map just make it a far better game for me personally... I've never really been one for scenarios anyway, I used them in TSC because they were practically the only thing you could get something out of, but when TSW launched and had a free roam map it really offered a level of immersion I had never experienced before. In TSC (and still in TSW scenarios) I could drive a service and then the service would end and bring me back to the main menu. In TSW, I can drive services in timetable mode, get out the cab once it has finished and either change ends or explore... TSW has got that right. TSW has been a slow burner in terms of content and building up the library so it wasn't one dimensional, but overall it is now far superior (in my opinion). Would I rather the Class 805 for TSC, or TSW? Definitely TSW with the open world timetable mode... I am one of a few that can do a few back to back end to end runs and get joy from it without getting bored. The timetable mode makes the immersion so much better for me and I use timetable mode over scenarios any day of the week. Anyway I shall stop ranting and raving!
Back on the subject of the 805 timetable, one thing I think is missing and a great shame is Liams scenery enhancement that was never released for consoles... I think DTG should release it to coincide with the 805 timetable. One of the things that looks really bland and let's down the route is that awful ballast texture and colour. If the improved ballast was released along with Liams tweaks this could feel like a totally new route.
Might want to make this clear before launch tomorrow then so Console users know they won't be getting the full allocation. Shame really as I was looking forward to purchasing this, but I'll be saving my money until there's a patch which means I get the same amount of services as PC players.
Wait, that was never released? I thought the only thing that wasn't ever released was the extra timetable layers like the ROG 37 and the 86 railtour. Agree on the ballast colour, it looks totally unrealistic and wrong. It was also used on the riviera line which runied an otherwise great route.
As far as I'm aware (but stand to be corrected), Liam's scenery upgrades were never implemented because of the crashing at the time. Even Liams timetable was never released in full and the current timetable has chunks missing out of it!
I will go find this out, I think the actual number isnt even reflective of the playable services but rather AI only movements/statics. Can confirm no passengers services have been cut though
Fills you with confidence. Noticed as well in another question they answered blurry textures could be WORSE.
Does limited console TT services apply to Xbox only? It’s a little disappointing, but it is what it is. Still buying the 805 tomorrow though.
Yeah thats the case. I have ask DTG Harry about this question and she send me a message thats the case for XBOX and XBOX PC not for PS.
