Gwe Remaster: Appreciation And Discussion Thread

Perhaps a silly question but will the remaster essentially update the existing game or will it be a separate game in the menu?

 

I believe it'll replace the current GWE route.

 

I imagine it will be similar to the cathcart GCC remaster where we got a new timetable added etc.

The original GWE route is a bit like yer favourite teddy bear you could never throw out. It might have one good eye , the other eye dangling down by a thread, patches of fur left but still looking good after all these years.

I stopped playing GWE the moment the remaster was announced in August 2024!

Big mistake. I'm too stubborn to play it again until the remaster comes out!

It's entirely my fault - there was no release date so this is the risk one takes when adopting this strategy.

I’ve done exactly the same! So it’s been that long now it’s doubly going to feel like a new route when it drops.

 

I just uninstalled and forget about it. So when remaster comes it will so fricking awsome to play.

 

Ditto here, not even DLOGW. It seemed pointless with the remaster and full timetable in the offing.

More than ever, we need DTG to shift their bottoms and fix chained saving for this route release.

 

The lighting is absolutely brilliant!

 

We’re going back to where it all started. Not long now, hopefully.

 

Never stopped playing the original GWE along with SPG and NTP.. The things I most love about the railway are in these older routes. Give me a noisy, throbbing diesel engine, a dirty loco hauled consist or even ( I wish ) a chuffing steam loco. I'll even love a first or second gen dmu.

I have a bunch of more modern routes, of course and I run them, especially LIRR and BML.

But I just can't love pretty- colored plastic, one-handled and electric and the dreadful cleanness of these modern trains.

I hope the remaster doesn't add a lot of really modern stuff to one of my favorite old routes!

Technically not the American freight route CSX heavy haul was where it all started then Great western

 

Looking forward to this,hopefully it runs on consoles without too many issues.

 

The twitter post does specify it's where it all began *for UK routes*

It was one of the first three for consoles though

 

The original founders edition on console was just GWE iirc.

I’ve been running PS5 with limited issues. Yes, the expected stutter in certain situations, but not the blurry textures many seem to refer to. I must add though, I have not yet purchased Crewe - Birmingham, which was clearly released with problems to solve.

Anyway, I’m not sure there has ever been such bated anticipation for a new route!. Absolutely cannot wait for this one.

 

Same here (also PS5). Only issues I have with blurs are on Mildmay (solved by disabling some hardly visible layers) and indeed Birmingham-Crewe. Only very rarely on other routes.

 

The 805 has bought with it more blurry texture issues, included on the Euston to MK route now. I never had blurry textures on that route before (PS5).
It’s not a widespread problem for me though how others describe it, as it’s only limited to three routes.

 

This is my experience too. I have blurry textures on MK-Euston with the 805 timetable only. I think this has to do with not only the 805 itself, but the subclasses of 350’s too.

 

I had this too. With the 805, the first blurries on there in quite some time.

 

Same for me on Xbox - never had blurrier on WCMLS before, but did a northbound service in the 805 and had blurry textures from just outside Euston that never went away.

Me. So far I've not been proven wrong.

We were told it was going to be totally free and any DLCs we owned that would feature on the remaster would improve it.

Then there was that alleged misunderstanding from Matt weeks ago that Consoles wouldn't get the new timetable, just the remaster.

Now we've been told a promised 387 layer isn't included because a paid DLC is apparently coming in the future that'll add it, thus making it not free.

But I'm not allowed to be critical because it's free, what would I know eh, I'm only a customer.

If this Remaster was £12.99 then I, and I’m sure others would snap it up. In fact I think they should charge for remasters in the future as it’s a complete overhaul. The fact that we’ll pay for some extra layers if we want the full experience and or a GWR 387 or HST pack is absolutely fine. I can’t wait for the remaster and to add both to my layers. The amount of hard work and effort from DTG Liam and then team is incredible. It has everything upgraded to TSW 6 with station and train announcements, lighting, audio and all the other thousands of things mentioned in the past year. It’s incredible, and the fact that it is for the most part FREE if you own the route is astonishing. For anyone moaning that you have to pay for a GWR 387 I have no words.

 

Well said. Unfortunately there will always be the minority who will find something to be upset about. Considering this route has been on offer below £10 multiple times as well, I really struggle to see the negatives here.

I would pay something for a remaster of certain routes if it came with a new timetable. Obviously not full price as if it was a new route.

If it was the only way to get remasters in the future.
