Hello, I know there have been countless threads on stuttering over the years, no matter how good a setup you have. I have an RTX5080, however apart from the microstutters has anyone experienced a flashing white or black screen for the briefest second (if that), let me be clear it’s not the monitor flashing it’s definitely in game. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts?
I’ve got that already, wonder if it’s because I’m running in Windowed Fullscreen, with the live weather mod?
It doesn't affect me. I've been driving with this mod in this configuration for a long time now. Try increasing the texture cache size to unlimited. I don't remember exactly what it's called at Nvidia. And don't forget that the first few launches will be quite choppy. After completing the entire route, the situation improves.
Is it possibly just pantograph sparks? They are implemented in very shitty way where they just flash insides of the cab through the roof for some reason. If you are running with live weather, you may see more of them now as the temperatures are around freezing point.
That was my first thought too, so I turned them off in the settings! Like I said, the microstutters are part of the game, which you can never fully eliminate but it’s the random ‘flicker’ that is annoying me!
When do you expierence flicker? If its at night runs for me was the fix to turn on HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling) and variable refresh rate in the windows gaming settings. Windows 11 -> System -> Screen/Monitor Settings -> Graphics -> Advanced display Settings
That’s all turned on! It can be random, there’s no pattern to it, but it will happen along with a microstutter.
Okay try to turn off free sync or g sync... Maybe that will fix that. Its a known issue when you enable that. Its not really necessary to have that active when you play TSW
Seems to me the OP is seeing graphics glitching (sorry can't remember technical term), which happens from time to time. I had a major problem with it, especially at Euston, until I reverted to DX11 instead of DX12 - problem fixed.
There have been a few instances where I have experienced my screen go black while in the middle of operating a train in TSW6, it happens at random for a few seconds. I am not sure what it could be or if it's my monitor, as it happens sometimes when playing GTA V Enhanced or browsing the web. I have an ASUS VG278QR 27"
For me i was more in the way like the vertical refresh rate. Sometimes it will give you light flickering when the fps rate is changing very often. Or unstable fps.
I was just thinking the same thing as well. For a while, I was taking a look at my monitor settings, and I am not sure how I did not notice for quite some time, I was operating @ 60hz instead of the designed 165hz. Hopefully changing the refresh rate stops the flickering from occurring. Thing seem buttery smooth now when I switched it to 165hz.
Yep, I’ve tried that as well. Tried VRR/GSync on and off too. It does seem to be unstable frame rate, which sounds strange to say when it’s capped at 60FPS with no issues at Ultra settings and 4K!
Funny enough, I’ve just played around with a few settings, set my monitor refresh rate to 144hz and in game FPS at 144 (I know I will never get that at 4K) I’m getting around 90-120. I thought I’d try an intensive route Crewe to Birmingham. I had a huge stutter leaving Crewe station which was accompanied with a flicker (like a headlight or arcing flicker, like someone else described). I’m in the middle of a run now and in a 45 minute period, it has only happened the once when I left Crewe. Is it a monitor issue too, combined with all the settings? I have an ASUS ROG Strix XG32UQ
Hi Shaun123 , Stuttering and flickering are two entirely different problems. Stuttering the result of a large frame time variance, meaning a frame is delivered late, but it cannot change the content of that frame to make it entirely white/black. What you are seeing is a visual artifact that could be caused by a number of different things including, but not limited to... Graphics/lighting mods or overlays or injectors (remove all mods/complete a clean re-installation before moving on) A graphics driver issue (Complete a clean re-installation of the graphical driver and check Nvidia forums for issues) A hardware fault (look up GPU artifacts) A faulty/insufficient cable going to your monitor (not all HDMI cable are built equal. If you are pushing a 4K signal at a high refresh rate you will need a cable rated to do this. Lower bandwidth cables may flicker or cut out intermittently)
Thanks DTG-Chris This is really useful feedback, I’ve had a play around and it does seem like it’s a Nvidia graphical settings issue caused by what I had as my settings within the Nvidia Control panel. I’ll keep an eye on it, I’m currently doing a service on Riviera Line and it hasn’t happened (yet)!
