Agree, to an extent - NTP and TVL come to the fore UK wise. My preference though would be to fund the refurbishment with a new train (Class 25 or Trans Pennine DMU for NTP; Class 56 for TVL).

I wasn't thinking a huge amount but yes that would be the best option if a new DLC was made for the route, I am hoping ECW will get one with the new trains like Cathcart did. Then again Hamburg didn't.

NTP, TVL, ECW and BML would be my first choices but I would love to see all pre TSW3 routes remastered but I guess that won't happen unless there is something in it for the creator.

I get the feeling GWE has been a bit time consuming and quite a hassle for Liam although I'm grateful he has done it as GWE will feel like a new route, I haven't touched it for a few years mainly because the timetable was poor.

Wife and I have been having the odd afternoon trip up from Swindon to Reading for shopping and a walk by the river. Although the timetable we are getting is slightly older, IRL Reading is alive with trains coming and going virtually constantly. The old GWE never captured that and one other thing I’m looking forward to with the remaster is just spawning in Free Roam, see what’s about and jump on it to drive up to London. Ditto at Paddington.
Of course, it would have been nice if the remaster had added the GW branches but c’est la vie on that.

    Completely agree OldVern
Transpennine DMU is a must as is the Class 25.

Yes there are times when there isn't actually a train in Paddington on the old timetable, it was their first passenger one to be fair though. I can't wait to see it transformed.

Watched drivers eye views of the route from paddington to reading and in real life, it's a busy route also with freight the video I saw ,so now we have a new timetable should be definitely more emersive

Making remasters paid DLC is not going to work in my opinion. Some would buy them, some would not, as we found out here. Bringing out updates and managing DLC layers.for several iterations of one and the same route would make it really difficult. Like having to introduce new timetables because there is a new loco DLC.

    Oh wait.

Jokes aside, I am thankful that DTG takes care of its existing customers (who bought routes early, maybe even at full price). The remaster may sell GWE to people who were not that interested in the first place. Or may make them buy other DLCs to populate the remaster. It goes without saying that Liam should receive a fair remuneration for all his work which is much appreciated.

isn't this exactly what they did with LIRR? Don't see the problem. The truth is likely that the old iteration will remain untouched (like most old routes) and the new one will be the main thing.

We are very lucky in this case that the GWE remaster is going to be free for all existing owners of the route, considering how much work has gone into it too...

However, generally, if routes are not going to be remastered as a passion project we can expect developers to charge for the work put in. But it is understandable that if work and man hours has gone into remastering a particular route it will have a price tag. LIRR is a prime example of that and is a really good and paid for remastered route. I would happily pay for DTG to remake NTP or the BML... I don't think it's a bad thing either. Liam has done this as a passion projects and complete respect for that, but if a company is doing this we have to naturally expect the man hours will have to be paid for.

If already own yhe route they remaster it i wouldn't want to full price for it again but would certainly pay half the price.

That seems fair. I do think DTG and 3rd party developers are missing a trick with potential remasters on both routes and locos. Look at the class 40 and 45 for example. Both could be released as preserved 40145 & 45118. Upgrade the sounds and exhaust dynamics potentially. I’m more than happy to pay for something like that.

I agree that TVL and NTP needs a full remaster and the 25 is what we want + The TPE DMU would make a nice change as NTP set in 1983 + for the 56 for the TVL I think most 56s went via the DCL on Coal and oil workings but a few of them did do steel and coke workings towards Lackenby/Redcar Bulk Terminal.

Can't wait to drive the networker again, the world is no longer a mostly barren, GWE is retaking that GOATed spot for me. The rail singing and horn use really confirms it for me personally. No more 125mph 166s either hopefully

I suspect free full route re-masters will be a thing of the past after GWE and the Mildmay 'update'.

They are great for us customers, but I don't think they really make sense from a business perspective for DTG or the freelance devs themselves.

I remember Liam saying he was doing this basically to develop his skills to go the 'paid 3rd party dev route' next time, which makes sense, but also seems a unique situation which is unlikely to occur again.

I've been running tsw since before it was tsw2020. Anything to thank him for remastering the og route.
We definitely should all pick it up as a token of our appreciation. Can't wait to see all the well known power cars running.

Nevertheless. This will be worth a Year and a half wait and we all looking forward for the remaster's release. Liam is doing a outstanding job making improvements and adding more services to make the route more alive and more Busier than ever! Its great to see we get to drive the underground between Paddington and Westbourne Park..Okay its abit short but least thats the exciting part of the remaster! + More Underground as AI at Ealing Broadway! I am so looking forward to it!

East Coastway remaster! I had a sneaking suspicion we might not be too far off with the upcoming pack.
Friday release for the GWR remaster has made my weekend plans clear.

Good work Liam, it’s very clear how much time and effort has been invested.

I said I'd apologise for my comment regarding it being vapourware if I was proven wrong.

Based on historic patterns, it's likely present for the route but not for the HST Farewell Pack DLC. Unfortunately the only way now is to make your own localization mod...

Can not wait for Friday for this. The wording of the announcement today also makes it sound like ECW:R will be out in the next month too.

I would pay for a remaster only if it included additional mileage and some new rolling stock.
That's why I was quite happy to repurchase LIRR.

As far as I can tell the current remasters do not reach that threshold, so they should be free to original purchasers. That's not to diminish the work of individuals who have put in the hours, but a new timetable and bringing a route up to TSW6 standards is not enough to make it a paid update in my view.

Does this mean that, on Fridays release, the Riviera's layered 43's and 166's will be updated alongside?

In regards to the Transpennine DMUs, it would be important to include both Class 123 and 124 in a variety of formations as per reality for 1983. The Class 123s could also then be added to dlogw as they are perfect for that era (1971) as well.
