So it’s finally been announced in this year’s Festival of Rail news article that we’re getting an East Coast way remaster, after months of speculation following Rivet’s leak. More details will likely be shared next Tuesday when the roadmap is released, and I’ll update this post once we know more. Yet in the meantime, feel free to discuss the remaster here.

Might finally give that route a chance and buy it. Wasn't that interested in it to begin with, but the upcoming Rivet 171 pack and timetable were tempting me, what still kept me was the god awful lighting system.

If it wasn't being remastered I wouldn't have been purchasing 171/377 DLC, I suspect some others would have been the same.

I'm glad it is being remastered and given the love it deserves, it's still a bloody good route and I'm glad to see the 700s will layer into it as well.

I don’t own the route, but i voted for it in the Winter Survey as a remaster route as I could tell, based on videos I’ve seen and other people’s thoughts, that it certainly had a lot of potential. Very happy this is coming, to the point where I’m almost convinced of buying it once it’s out. Screenshots look fabulous and details given should really help liven up the route. Maybe it’s too early to judge, but I would like to see the 377/2 from WCMLS layer in - if they do appear in the WTT irl. Hoping sounds can be swapped for AP’s ones, and I noticed the article said pantograph faults would be included as part of train faults, even though the route uses third rail :D.

Great route and can’t wait for the remaster, out this month too by the sounds of it?! Seems smart to remaster this alongside the 171 pack, turns that pack from a maybe to a must for me.

Amazing announcement, I had a slight feeling that East Coastway might be getting a remaster!!

I noticed the article didn't mention new audio for the ECW version of the 377, please please please tell me this hasn't been left off. It'd be a massive shame to be stuck with the old (and IMO bad) sounds.

Edit - same goes for the 66 as well.

Does this mean it's stopped spontaneously launching itself into orbit if you don't change the brake switch on the back panel? :D

This is an exciting one for me. I have lots of fond memories of driving ECW- one of the coziest routes in the game imo. Glad it's being given the proper treatment.

Fwiw, DTG, I'll buy loco DLC to fund remasters like this all day long as long as they're done well- keep 'em coming! :)

Personally, I really enjoyed East Coastway. Nice route and really scenic, it's a good surprise for me. Maybe the next one will be Brighton Main Line… Who knows

I’ll second this. I’m planning to buy DLOGW when GWE remastered is released as a way to support remasters.

A VERY welcome surprise this afternoon. It'll be a great little self contained route upgraded to modern standards. I expected with the 171& 377/3 we'd only be getting a TOD4 upgrade and that was it... But to have the entire route essentially remastered to a complete modern standards is a very welcome surprise. So we'll done to the collaboration between Rivet & Liam on this one.

As I've said in the the other thread, a bit of small feedback from the pictures released today, the 377/4 has also been upgraded, however the font and destination boards are wrong and from the original 377/4 from ECW not the modern 377/4 from BML. The BML 377/4 has the correct sounds too.... So I hope that the 'new' updated ECW 377/4 will use the correct destination board fonts/display and have the correct sound. As I say, not to nit pick, but just some constructive feedback!

But appreciate all the work of all those involved it looks fantastic!

I thought that Cathcart was upgraded whether you purchased the 380 or not? I have the 380 so mine has been upgraded.

Will the remaster still be available if I buy the route after its release - for example during the next sale?

Koln Aachen is releasing this month, ECW it just says "coming soon". Which I personally take as not this month, otherwise it would say that like it does for SKA

    AMAZING!

Quick question: what role do guards play on freight trains?
    upload_2026-2-3_17-1-31.png

And why is there a Thameslink train in the article?

Very much looking forward to this. As someone who used to live in Brighton around the time this is set, it'll be great to see it represented with the quality and eye for detail that Liam has. As has been mentioned already, I hope we do get a sound update for the 377/4 on the route as well as a fix for few other odd details such as PIS Typeface and strange stop marker placement.

Class 700's did Mileage accumulation runs along ECW

it was and wasn’t- the lighting and scenery remaster was free to all owners, but you couldn’t get the improved timetable without the 380

Cathcart was a good example of how to do it, with the 380 bringing in revenue to subsidise the remaster work. Just a shame they never fixed the brakes for being too firm.

exactly- i’d happily pay for a loco or the equivalent cost for remasters, especially for bml. it’s the only pre-tsw3 route i’ve touched in the last year

Interesting that rail singing seems to be a standard in all future routes.

I'm scared that rivet have their hand in this though. I really don't want them to mess this up. I have faith that Liam won't let that happen though.

what on the 313 is going to be improved?

how are the 377s (i hope this will be applied to the BML 377, apparently the ECW and BML 377 are seperate models/train entirely) gonna have a guards panel when said guards panel is non-existent?
    upload_2026-2-3_18-36-15.png

actually will there be 387 substituting on some Ore/Eastbourne to Victoria services? Considering the GWML Remaster is gonna bring in some unbranded 387s.

Pretty sure they did most of it and did it pretty well I must say.

Just a shame they haven't patched a few of the annoying bugs on the locos, but the route itself is very solid indeed IMO.

Feel like Rivet are due a lot more credit than they are getting on this one. It was them who bought me on (as Grump Dog Games) to work with them on the remaster. Without them this remaster would not have happened.

IMHO, Rivet has most problems because they cant get the train physics right or they do not manage time allocation for their own projects correctly.

If you give them an area to model in a route and a correct timeframe to do it the results are usually good.

To add to this from a player perspective, historically Rivet were a bit ropey as a company. But since the Class 170 timetable, and the Riveria Line I think it's safe to say Rivet really have pulled their socks up when it comes to standards. Riveria I play often and it's a really good route, and the new timetable for Birmingham Cross City was smashing.

Since Tyler come onboard and I'd imagine a few other staff, Rivet are trying and very successfully I shall say, improving their quality. So again credit to you Liam, but also equal credit to Rivet for thinking outside the box and getting Liam to fully upgrade the route. Fairs fair, and they deserve credit for this.

I'll always call out bad quality, but I also think it's important to acknowledge when a company has genuinely changed for the better and Rivet have so I think it's time we finally give them a break. They are working hard, and they have clearly changed for the better... So good luck and fair play to them, and continue down this road! I have seen a vast improvement all round, and they deserve genuine appraisal for that.
