Out Now Great Western Express: Remastered - Out Now!

It’s great to have this route remastered but have DTG missed a trick? Paddington to Reading is now the Elizabeth Line and extends to Whitechapel, only four more stations needed for the full line. Many in the forum have asked for the Elizabeth Line, so what is DTGs take on this for the future DTG Harry?

 

they haven’t ’missed a trick’, the route is set in 2017, before the elizabeth line opened. it would also require lots of dev time

 

Great work it looks fantastic i dont have the 350 do you have to own London to Milton Keynes to get it

 

Not to mention the amount of tunnels that would need light baking, it’s ATO with platform screen doors and while the 345’s look smart they are another modern one handle EMU.

 

The Elizabeth Line also goes a fair bit further than Whitechapel. Most of it is underground for that section anyway so it could get a bit boring.

I'm getting frosted windows on the 166

 

Do you have old 166 mods installed? !Laika-GWRClass166-Patches.pak needs to be removed

Series X player here, unfortunately we're just going to have to expect blurry textures until it's fixed by the team

 

Had a quick look on the PS5 this morning (will stream it tonight) But performance around Paddington, Ealing Broadway, Acton* was between 30 and 60fps it wasnt bad but after playing the last week or so on PC it is noticable. I have to admit (my god) the PC version is the Dogs Danglies at the moment. It just looks and plays superb. DTG Liam has done a bloody good job as well as Rhys doing the sound. AS I said it was just a quick couple of runs on the PS5.

* I did have a custom liveried 66 at Acton as well.

no worries, it’s been ‘getting there’ for a year and a half. i’m sure it’ll be fixed very soon

 

Perhaps they are unable to fix it? Hope not as we will have to live with it.

 

A quick question if anyone can help. How many services does Cargo Line 1 (Petroleum) and 4 (Military) add? They are some of the few layers I don't already own, but unfortunately there's no way to know how much a layer adds until you buy it.

Mods can bring a huge upgrade to the game so keep youre eyes on the TSC community website i should say

 

Just testest guard mode. The guard panel on the HST (only tried FGB so far) opens the doors on the wrong side. So if you use the guard panel thats platform side, it will open track side and vice versa. I don't think that's right.

 

Platform 9 at Paddington has a building you can walk through.

 

I'm on Xbox series X and there's a blurring issue on the inside and outside of the trains

 

Well, Steam pushed it very early for them. Already got it at 0845 EST, will run a little later.

 

steam doesn't push anything or dictate when anything release on their platform. dovetail pushed their update. i dont know why they refuse to release dlc earlier on release dates

 

I do understand it wrong maybe but you pressing the right red button, then the right hand doors are open when you press the left red button, the left side doors are unlocked... You pressed the right button so doors are open on the right but the platform is on the left so you should pressed the left red button. There is for both doors 1 gaurd panel.

 

What about ps5 i am having issues with the route not show all the train that you can control in timetable mode

So this was a route that I had never really had any interest in, even going as far back as Railworks. I only ever completed one timetable run and that was in the HST from Paddington to Reading. I fired it up today and wow, it really does make a lot of difference, it feels so alive thanks to all of the layered in stock and a much busier timetable The lineside clutter and engineering crews really make it come alive too.

I did a quick HST run from Paddinton to Reading and then changed platform and did another one in reverse, I can really see myself spending a lot of time on this route now

I did notice one bug though, I think it's probably a glitch or a core issue, having returned to Paddington I'm prompted to lock the doors, despite doing that it will not trigger the "end of mission" - even releasing and closing the doors several times, even manually closing them etc doesn't work. It's not really a gamebreaker as personally I'm in it for the trains and not to "collect" diagrams.

 

Im missing the 350 on series x is it a layer or should it of been there on release

Appeared fine for me and saw one as AI on a run (on Xbox).

Telling me to lock doors at Paddington too. Had to wait about 3 minutes or so of locking and unlocking.. eventually after locking it completed

It's probably the old DTG one that used to be hidden in the route code.

 

BTW, the Class 52 also has frosted windows

 

I don't know if this is the case, but if you arrived before the scheduled time and finished unload passengers, even if you close the doors, the departure will not be completed. You will have to wait for the scheduled arrival time to arrive for the mission to be completed.

 

Shame that one of the few routes I could play without blurry textures is now a blurry texture mess even with the original timetable.

Everytime DTG adds more it seems to just break the game on Xbox.

 

Just been playing it, its great however.

Class 484 audio is very loud compared to other trains and audio, very overpowering, drowns out everything else, especially when your waiting for one to come into the station, they were never that loud in real life!

Class 484. Boarded a train at Westbourne Park, as a passenger, viewed outside camera and returned to inside train, only to find, I had been switched to the back cab, with no way of getting out, this was between Royal Oak and Paddington.

Class 350. 1st car is original 350 livery, the other 4 cars are Heathrow express livery.

Passengers coming downstairs footbridge at Ealing Broadway station, bottom parts of body showing underneath stairs while walking down them....Platform 4.



But I will say this upgrade has breathed a whole new life into the game.

 

Thats not how it works. You have to press both buttons to release the doors IRL. Obviously, in game you cant do this. However, no other stock does this when operating doors on the guard panel.

 

In the case of the 165/166, it is mod related because I disabled mine and it went away. Since it is only the right window in the 2017 tt, I will live with it.

 

Will the Xbox nerfs be reinstated at some point in the future should further optimisation be made?

Job well done! It's been many years since I've run this route so it was like a whole new experience for me. The layering is great. Thanks for this, it’s hard to believe it's a free upgrade honestly.
