having played tsw on xbox for years now, i’ve been convinced that ive picked the platform that has the worst overall experience in tsw. however, i wanted to see whether thats a consensus at all within the community, and peoples perspectives (especially pc players) who think they have it worse off than anyone else
I can only compare between my potato PC and PS5. Both have issues, the main thing being stutters and sound distortion. It is very much route dependent though, most of my PS5 stuff is older content rather than the latest routes which push CPU and GPU hard. On balance I do prefer running on PC. Essentially the whole game needs an overhaul - you can keep filling the potholes but eventually you need to resurface the whole road!
Xbox is the worst place to play this game, no question. All the issues mentioned can’t be fixed due to the Xbox hardware/infrastructure. At least Xbox owners have the choice of switching to PC if they ever decide to go that route, they can bring along all their existing content and import it free of charge.
I’ve played both Series S and PS5, and from a bugs/issue standpoint, they feel about the same. Some bugs I see on Xbox aren’t on PS, and visa versa, but it’s just as problematic.
I get the xsx has its limits but other devs seem to manage it without too many issues.Granted im not a software expert so theres probably more to it than meets the eye. However the same few who seem to answer`..get an upgrade, change to PC......` dont really help much.We are all here for the same enjoyment factor with the game.
I know, I’m not having a dig at Xbox owners or anything. I used to play on the Series X too briefly so I know it’s a frustrating experience for many. I remember Matt saying something a while back about how Microsoft manage both the S/X versions, it’s not easy to optimise for and causes more issues.
I would switch from Xbox but I already have 130 addons for this game alone and many other games to the point changing now would be more of a lose than a win/ benefit
It depends, as a PC user I think we have it best because we are able to have mods which fix issues that DTG or the DLC developer are slow to deal with, or that we have the enhancement packs (another mod) which brings older TSW2-3 era routes up to a higher standard. We are also blessed with regular Steam sales. That said, we have it worse because DLC releases late in the day for us (5-7pm) compared to the consoles... If that's all it is then it's a small price to pay. Although, despite assurances from others and DTG themselves to the contrary I still believe that DLC is often delayed due to issues optimising for consoles, particularly the older generation which they previously would not just let go. Or that DLC is nerfed slightly in the aim of "fairness" with the consoles. But to answer your question, consoles have it worse - but they made their bed, they gotta lie in it. PC Master Race for the win
I'm playing on Series S, sound popping and Z-fighting are my biggest issues with the game. Some routes have crashing issues, but it's not that common for me. I'm playing on a VRR screen, so FPS stutters are not that much visible, only when the FPS dips to much. But there are still stutters, some routes are worse then others. Luckily I haven't seen the blurry textures, I have not installed that much add-ons and the multiple older routes from TSW and TSW2, I have installed on an old TSW version. Based on the reports in the troubleshoot section, Xbox seems to have more blurry texture issues, however it's also an issue on PS5. On the other hand, I see reports of save file issues on PS5, which are not common for Xbox as far as I know. On PC you have shader compilation stutters, so your first run is not that pretty. In conclusion, TSW is not the best optimized game on any platform and Unreal Engine is not a very good engine out of the box, so I don't expect perfection anyway. Compared to other games, TSW is one of the more worse games with a lot of unsolved bugs, and a many of those bugs are not that hard to fix, but they just don't fix them. For me it's the lack or care, I hate the most of TSW/DTG.
Hanging around these forums from time to time, it seems that Xbox players have the most issues of all of us. On PS5 I hardly have any issues with blurs (except the notorious Birmingham-Crewe and to a lesser extent Mildmay). Stutters only in very busy areas. Hardly any crashes.
