Route Great Western Express: Remastered - Feedback Thread

Haven’t had an issue so far, on Series S, which is surprising but absolutely welcomed!

Incredible work, as you can probably attest from the many pages on these forums, but I’d like to celebrate Liam’s hard work on a deeper level.

The route is now the best in the game. At least from a UK perspective. It’s a beautiful swan-song to a bittersweet moment, an end of an era. Seeing Paddington full of HST’s and DMU’s, yet large parts of the route draped in overhead infrastructure.. a reminder of the need for evolution but at the cost of familiarity and tradition. GWE now feels like the love letter to the HST it was always meant to be. The perfectly captured moment in time, the 11th hour, before it all changed. Thank you for taking on this project, well done for getting it done and congratulations for capturing and evoking such an emotional period of change on the Western region.

I play on PS4 and so am aware that I will experience a reduced timetable with only the base stock (66, 43s and 165/166s) involved, however I do wish that I would be able to access the railtour timetable as well. I feel that with the current timetable, the route runs mostly smoothly, and so I feel a few extra small services in the form of the railtours wouldn’t harm, especially since the Railtours was quite a big selling point of the route (especially Scotsman).

Also, one thing that I noticed on the 66s is that the numbers on the front if the cab can be different to the numbers on the cab sides (It said 66660 on the front but 66356 on the sides), which I saw when re-running the scenario in which you rescue a failed HST and drag to back to the depot.

 

Why does the 350 train PIS show Hanwell and Elthorne, did they rename the station map only says Hanwell ?

 

Also noticed the lack of spaces in the station names on the PIS above the seats by the door, just a small detail but one that I noticed.

 

When selecting the 2017 timetable via "Choose a route", I am unable to select the class 350. When I select the 2017 timetable via the "train depot", then select the class 350, I am able to select GWE.

 

I think you need wcml south version i could be wrong.

 

Overall positive vibe from GWE remaster. In fact I'd not really touched TSW since September, so this sort of brought me back from the brink!

The only negatives I've found has been Stop markers and lack of selective door locking. If it wasn't for the fact that I was operating as Conductor these issues might have gone unnoticed.


Operating service 1R02 London Paddington to Reading on the HST FGB (8 car) diagram - this a semi-fast HST calling at several stations enroute, and runs on the Down Relief. This means that at Slough the train is longer than the platform length.

IRL such circumstances would dictate selective door locking (if available) be employed. If that option is not available the alternative is for passengers to utilise the crew door towards the front of the train. I have actually experienced this when travelling on a Class 150/2 and stopping at Freshford (between Westbury and Bath Spa) on the "Heart of Wessex" line.

1R02 could be an unusual service for this type of rolling stock and such an irregularity was not anticipated with the functionality of the guard's panel for Central Door Locking on HST sets.

Operating service 2P46 Oxford to London Paddington (starting from Reading at 12:01) - this is a 6 car train formed of two Class 166 GWR units. At Maidenhead Platform 4 it would appear the stop marker utilised is the 2-3 Car Stop sign not the 4-6 Car Stop sign further Up the platform.

 

Class 166:
- The wiper animations do not match the cleaned area of a glass.
- Please, increase the instrument panel backlight resolution - speedometer is incredibly hard to read with the instrument lights on because of a pixelated mess.
- Let me open the window, I want to get some fresh air.

And give a bonus to whoever optimized Paddington. Or better yet, hire them to create all the major stations. I didn't expect to see 75 fps.

 

Sorry to report running the route with a Class 166 up from Reading to Paddington on a stopper resulted in two hard locks of the game and PC, on separate occasions. First time yesterday evening about a minute after leaving Maidenhead or 1.5 miles from Taplow. Second this evening when I resumed the run again and this time got as far as running into Burnham platform. On both occasions the screen froze with sound still playing. Couldn't Alt Tab to browser or even Steam. Had to hard reboot on both occasions as couldn't Alt Tab to Task manager after starting it either to kill TSW.

 

DTG Liam Hi Liam Class 166 job 1P85 you SPAD after about 5-10 mins into the job even tho you have all greens. Xbox series x. Tried three times happens all time.

 

Anyone else noticed the wipers dont clear the window properly on 166.

 

I tried that and all that happened was the train started rolling backwards. Ran it to beyond the end of the wires and tried using the engine there and still got nothing. It told me that the trains power would need to be switched before the run started but it didn't tell me which power system needed switching too

 

Well, that's a new one for me.
Saved the ECS from Southall to Paddington (66 with Royal Scotsman on rear) around Old Oak Common area.
Come back later and when I went to load it, it wouldn't load, the wheel just turned and turned and kept going.
After 10 minutes I had to to end task to get out of the wheel of doom.
That's never happened to me on this game before.
Service was 5Z60.

 

The lights are off on AI class 165 and 166 trains. They should be on by default. This is especially noticeable at night when the carriages are dark.

 

387 4 cars I get the won’t fit in this scenario message. 4 cars yet I can still spawn a 12 car 377.
