Hello there, I recently started to get blurry textures on the PC, however I'm using a 2080 RTX GPU (8GB) & AMD Ryzen 3700X, 32GB of RAM it holds some modern games and it's not too bad in medium/low settings. I usually have my settings in TSW medium/high.

However just only recently (2 months ago) I started to see some blurry textures, I was playing GWE remaster which it was using 5.4-5.6gb/8GB. I'm not too sure how much headroom the GPU should ultimately have, so it doesn't go through any extreme stress or pushing the boundaries with the GPU.

I know it's probably end of era for this particular GPU but I thought I had about 12 months before I fully upgrade.
My motherboard can only support up to a Ryzen 5500X3D as the highest CPU and RX 7800 XT (16GB) for the GPU. I believe these parts and the 32GB of RAM that I own should be enough to help me run the game in Ultra/High.

I'm seeing if this should be false proof for few years or so.
If anyone has similar builds please let me know how you've been getting on!

An 8gb 2080 is really the bottom end of what you are able to get away with. Until recently I was running the game on a 10gb 3080 just fine with most settings on a mix of high and ultra. Subsequently I've upgraded both my CPU & GPU to a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a 5080. so there's a bit of headroom for the next few years.

Oh nice one, yeah to be honest I should've upgraded for this sequel of the game, but yeah it's starting to get a tiny bit laggy in places. That's good to know a 10gb can do the job also. How much headroom do you think the GPU needs to have before it starts to decrease in performance?

You need to upgrade both your CPU and GPU. If you only upgrade your GPU, you will definitely experience a bottleneck. Your CPU is too old to handle more modern GPUs.

Yeah I've mentioned that'll be upgrading the CPU to a 5500 X3D. I think that'll sort it out for a few years fingers crossed.

Why not a 5700x3d or 5800x3d? Those are the top tier am4

Choose this one. Is the best am4 at the moment

That’s a tough question to answer in all honesty. No-one really knows where TSW is heading. I mean the more headroom the better but as a minimum I would say 20% and I’m sure others will disagree but that figure gives you flexibility going forwards. Also, who knows what TSW7 will bring….

You’d be better off with a Ryzen 7 5800x3D. 4 more threads and 128kb L1 cache, L2 cache is 1MB larger Runs on an AM4 CPU socket too.
    What chipset is on your motherboard? X570, B550, A520, X470, B450?
