Something that won't happen, but I would like to see. (By the way this is only for routes set around the same era.) When a developer has a station or area that was previously in another TSW route, quite often the newer route is an improvement and thus the station and scenery on the older route looks worse as a result. Case in point. I love the improved Manchester Piccadilly station in Manchester Airport Commuter and the scenery around it is way better (though still no football stadium in the distance). I just wish it were possible that that version of Piccadilly could be put into the Glossop route. It's so big and open for you to wander about, even down to the tram platforms. When you play Glossop now after a run on MAC, the difference really shows at Piccadilly. (The difference also shows in the 323s, I wish the MAC one layered into Glossop.) Another example, Birmingham New Street. While I don't own the Crewe-Brum route, I saw the comparison photos of their changes to New Street compared to the Cross-City route. New Street looks much better and more realistic. Of course, the fact we have routes made by different developers means the chances of Glossop and Cross City getting improved stations are unlikely to happen, but it won't stop me dreaming one day it will. Anyone got other examples of same station, different routes, where a later route has improved on the original?
The overground section of the Bakerloo Line from Queens Park to Harrow as updated in WCMLS, both for scenery and AI traffic if you have the layers.
I remember when Birmingham-Crewe was releasing DTG or AABS were talking about how they fixed the light baking and glowing benches at New Street. My assumption there was that this fix would come to BCC but it didn't. Part of this was obviously poor wording but I agree that some of these changes should come to older routes and even maybe newer stock coming to older routes. A few of the ambassadors are always saying that the timetable must be completely rebuilt in order to add new stock to older routes, but this has been disproved time and time again. How was the pendolino able to come to Cathcart when it hadn't been released yet, same with the voyager on multiple routes. I'd like to see some older routes get changes when newer ones which reuse parts of that older route are released.
To be fair, as SEHS is a DTG route I could see firefly carrying on and remastering the whole of SEHS, especially if they want to continue the Southeastern theme…
I did think this too the other day as that route is getting a lot of attention at the moment as the Guinea pig for the next core update
I think the Pendolino was likely in development by the point Cathcart was being updated, and like with the BCC 170 TT update, they made space for the Voyager ‘if and when’ it came to TSW - in hindsight they knew it was coming so that space was left. I think there’s been a shift in attitude towards developers future proofing routes a little now, as we have quite a variety and abundance of stock, and the licensing teams are killing it. Early routes were pigeon holed somewhat. Anyway, my two cents on this will be for the future Brighton area! Currently though, the BML and ECW versions are similar enough, but with different parts of the timetables missing. There’s no Thameslink on either, but no Gatwick Express on the ECW. That will all change soon though, and hopefully enough pressure will be mounted to finally update the BML to its place as a 2.0 route!
Absolutely! I always found the drive really unique, most likely because we were introduced to a tilting train for the first time. The route itself is a nice pace, not too fast or too slow and it keeps you alert. You’re never at the same speed limit for very long.
They should at least add the new layers to the glossop DLC. The emptiness is what bothers me the most having seen a busy Piccadilly on MAC.
Wish they would remaster NTP, love that route next to WCML Shap its probs one of my most played routes.
