This is a fantastic re-master on which I have played for hours! Well done Liam and team for this. You've revived an old favourite route of mine and made it million times better. I play on Xbox series X. Here's a few things I have noticed- 1) The platform announcements at London Paddington station tend to announce an arriving train as a train to London Paddington several times which is quite inaccurate. I have however heard less of this since todays update. 2) Platform announcements announce "Hayes" instead of "Hayes & Harlington". 3) The Heathrow Connect class 350s have incorrect destination displays reading "Not in" instead of their destination. 4) I don't think I've heard any onboard announcements on Heathrow Connect services. 5) On Xbox series X most station signs and textures can be quite blurry when with motion blur turned off. 5) At some stations the platform announcements don't align with the speakers or there aren't any speakers. Not a big issue. In the future is there scope to add in platform announcements for through trains? "Stand back fast train approaching platform 4" etc? The positives- 1) The lighting and scenery has been drastically improved making it a pleasant route to drive, ride and spot. 2) Announcements are brilliant! 3) The variety of stock and workings is awesome. 4) The stations are so accurate and feel immersive and real. 5) The livery variations add some additional interest. 6) I'm very impressed that you even went to add in the correct seats and moquettes for each livery variation. Overall a brilliant update. Thank you.
Unfortunately 3 times today the game failed to resume a saved service, once with the Class 66 aggregates and twice with the Class 165 on runs from Slough to Paddington. In each case I had to shut down/ restart my computer. This has never happened before in all the years I've been playing the game on a number of machines. Because of time constraints I'm very reliant on the save game feature, so this could be a real problem, on GWE-R at least.
I read that the blurry issue was reduced by not using the class 350,how do i still use the WCML layer but not the train layer?Im a little confused sorry.lol
On GWE the class 165 and 166 the AI trains are not uncoupling especially The service that runs from London Paddington to Oxford the 2N06 it’s still coupled to The two unit that goes to Greenford that service supposed to start at 06:26 am the 2G03 and also it’s causing problem for the Heathrow Connect that runs old oak common depot it’s the one with the head code 5T12 that starts 05:11 hope this bug gets sorted cause it’s quite annoying i’m not playing the route until it gets sorted out I’m playing on PS5
DTG Harry hi Harry i never got any update that I know of restarted xbox a few times. Search as well and nothing. It is possible it done it when xbox was of im not sure. The dlc doesn't give you when it was last updated I did even get koln aachen remaster update.
Is there anything saying what was included in the latest patch? My Steam install downloaded a 4.5MB update this morning so i'm assuming it's the GWE:R patch but I can't find anything to say what's fixed?
I’ve noticed an issue with the Western Loco… when moving and looking outside, the centre wheel on all four bogies are all distorted.. they’re rotating but are all jagged. I had a quick go on the shunter in training mode and ended up with a game crash.. controller buttons not working and an extremely weird view that looked like it was inside the loco looking out but upside down with part of the scenery visible but inverted. PS 5 DTG Liam
Had a go at Guard mode… Pad-Rdg on a stopping service. Between MHD and Twyford I went to outside view and when I went back inside the train, I ended up stuck in the middle of the carriage unable to move, except to spin around. So, on arrival at Twyford it was impossible to complete the scenario as I couldn’t get to the cab to open and close the doors… end of game.. I’m not that bothered about this bit of the game as I think it’s more for kids but it wasted about 40 minutes which was a bit annoying.
2R05 Reading to Pad on Legend TT. Enjoying 101 suspension but stuck outside W Ealing, on red, deleting stuck train in front didn't work. Two in two days now.
Had my first run last night did a small HST run from Reading to Paddington. First impressions are the route looks absolutely beautiful it's completely changed. My only slight gripe was that Maidenheads scenery could've been a bit better. I did have my first ever flick of blurred textures though just for a second or two on Series X. I don't have all layers either so I'm missing the IOW, Riviera, FS and the cargo line stuff. So I dread to think what it's like with those all installed as well. My only other small one was wondering if the HST sets driven by AI are mixed livery? As All the sets I saw were either GWR green or FGW. Apart from that Announcements are nice, Paddington looks great and ran fairly smoothly and it was a good first run.
Sadly, Slough didn't get improved scenery. I was really hoping the north side would have better buildings added in.
Yeah I was hoping to see the clock tower at least by the bridge and the lower station building at Maidenhead. But I guess we can't have it all
From my experience on the Series X, the blurry textures appear when I have the 350 layers active, my guess is that it's something to do with that train which causes it. I also saw someone say that it seems like the blurry textures come from trains which are post-TSW5. This actually seems pretty accurate in relation to GWE, the Underground layers and the GWE stock are fine but the blurry textures only appear if I have the 350 or Mildmay layers active (I don't own the voyager but I'd imagine that's much the same). Also I have seen AI HST sets with mixed liveries
PS4 I do not come across vehicles in the blue First Great Western inspired livery. I can select and drive them but do not see them as AI. Is it something in the settings (layers, UGC liveries, etc.)? Vehicles themselves appear, i.e. the 165 are there next to the 166. Also, the Cargo Line Vol. 2 Aggregates layer does not seem to do anything. No HOA freight services, only the HKA services which come with the base route. On PS5, everything is fine.
Yeah the brakes are "cut-out" use the electro-motive screen to set to "cut-in", it appears this 66 is not set up right at all!
I noticed this too. It’s like the new motion blur has only been applied to four of the six wheels on the bogies. The coaches also don’t seem to have the new wheel blur.
The wipers on the Class 166 make a strange inverse effect when on. This means the rain/snow also clears from the other side of the windscreen opposite to where the wiper is. This is particularly noticed when the weather is set to snow storm.
There's definitely something going awry with this route and loading into a saved game. Just had another video hard lock. This time I resumed a Class 166 fast run from Reading to Paddington after saving at Ladbroke Grove. TSW ran for about 90 seconds then locked itself and everything else up, requiring a hard reboot of the PC. Prior to this I have done several runs with the DB BR 140 on a number of routes, all being successfully saved and loaded without problems, so this seems specific to the new GWE. No Windows Update running and my Nvidia drivers are up to date. Sadly it seems the only way to play remastered GWE is to ensure you can finish the run in one session.
Approaching Dolphin Junction on the Down Main there isn't any approach control on the signals so its straight from 125 running on greens and getting slammed over on the 40mph over the junction.
None of the junctions appear to have been revisited to set up either the correct approach release (control) signalling sequence or where applicable flashing aspects. So you really have no option but to drive with the top right HUD active to at least get an idea from upcoming speed restrictions, if you’re going to cross over.
I thought it was me.. it’s happened several times… and I think.. ‘how did I miss that speed change’? It happens leaving Reading too.. 40/125/40 with only the first 40 in the HUD. I’m really careful departing there now.
Could anyone help me with the 802 run to Reading 5Z16 please? Run out of electric and diesel won't take over despite me having started it at the start.
Drop to Zero power and then press and hold the diesel button until it lights up, then press and hold the engine start button for a few seconds. Once that is done, press the lower pantograph button and reapply power. You don't need to run on diesel until Hayes. People say they have issues with diesel not starting and needing to be in the other cab to start the engines but maybe they have this sequence wrong. I've done this timetable run twice now and both times successfully completed the power changeover on the move on PS5.
I did the run… couldn’t work out what the engine change was at the start given the engines were running and the panto wouldn’t rise even after trying to turn off the engines…started with diesel power…the the loco, towards Reading, slowed on its own.. no throttle response and nothing happened when trying to override systems which usually clears the ‘fault’ even though no fault was suggested… so completely unsure what was going on…textures were fine. PS5
Since the last update, a majority of AI 166/165s still have their passenger saloon lighting switched off - strangely though, the odd one or two AI services have had them switched on (see below): On Off
When I select GWE2017, the 350 isn’t showing in the list of trains available… I have to go to the TRAINS area and then select the 350 to do a service. I’ve got 33 layers, all on.. which include a number of trains I don’t own obviously. The 350 shows up in WCML Euston timetable. Is this correct or is there a way of getting the 350 to show up in the GWE timetable? TIA.
Has that been fixed since the last update. The last time I did one of these runs I couldn’t switch to diesel mode in the 802 when I tried.
Not working for me (PC, Steam), I tried it earlier. Spawned an 802 at Paddington, ran it on electric to Hayes and Harlington. Tried turning on the diesel engine both on approach and stationary, no joy; as soon as I lowered the pantograph, all I got was Driver Assist warnings to put it back up to get power.
Do you also have much less FPS when it's raining on this route? Just a light rain, not a storm. I started several times with dynamic weather and light rain. Each time FPS was significantly lower than usual. But as soon as the rain stopped, FPS returned to a high value.
The class 66 intro seems to be busted on PS5. For the step to hold brake release until the BPC needle is at 5 it doesn’t go past 3.9.
WRT to the save games not loading properly, noticed a post on the TSW Community FB page this morning that the XBox version has the same problem. Needs a swift resolution as it has ruined the experience, no point in starting a run if you don’t think you can finish it.
1C01. The signals do not warn about turnout. Double yellow with white line literally in front of switch. It is physically impossible to slow down from 125 to 40 from the moment the signal becomes visible.
Yes. On express runs, I can usually complete the short 35 miles in one session. But sometimes, on a stopper for instance, or a slower freight run with maybe some loading/unloading, I might be interrupted and have to save. If I can't rely on the ability to resume a saved game, as you say, not much point starting out. The 165,166 seem to be the main culprits, but it's happened on a 66 too. I'm thinking that, on these particular runs, there might just be too much background data to be loaded into memory and saved. However, it doesn't happen on other heavily populated routes like BML or LIRR. Nothing more irritating than to have to reboot my computer each time this happens.
Happened to me on the Flying Scotsman run as previously noted. The other route which is crashing on loading a save at present - albeit without a hard video lock requiring reboot - is Frankfurt S-Bahn.
This is why I run with the mini HuD displayed to include approaching speed changes. I know some people like to run without a HuD and fully understand. For me, it's my route knowledge.
The thing is, most HST services run along one track on this stretch. I simply didn't expect there to be a turnouts to local track and back(3 times?). This should be mentioned in the briefing atleast.
Class 166 wipers have been fixed and ready for a GWE patch. As for the save game crashing I have no idea how that stuff works. I've seen instances of it before where it was due to a mod breaking the Class 66 so please try with no mods if you haven't already. Otherwise though the issue has been noted.
Re-running Christmas Shutdown, upon leaving Acton Yard, get an unexpected brake application which seems to be linked to the TPWS, after resetting, I get a second brake application whilst crossing from Up to Down Line after resetting again there was a third brake application whilst travelling to Slough. I gave up after this. No overspeed occurred, signals all displayed a proceed aspect. This was not a problem before the re-master! Played on PS5.
