It definitely has from what I can tell, this is someone who bought it day one. I know from memory they updated the vegetation, same what they used on the goblin line and enhanced other assets. My only criticisms, Edinburgh Waverley feels a bit deserted, hopefully the upcoming locos can add more life to the route, like Cathcart. Also I’d like to see airplanes taking off and landing at the airport and see a few boats passing under the forth bridge.
Edinburgh Waverley shouldn't be far off of Glasgow Central in this TT, the only train really missing is the 334 (as well as Lumo but that's only a few TPD) A 380 layer, at least, would be nice to see.
The 334 is a train I have wanted to see in both TSW and TSC for years surprised one has never appeared.
I’ve just bought this route. Pleasantly surprised! Also. I know Rivet have committed to adding the Leven branch which got me thinking. Having read on the forums that it’s near impossible to extend routes and add track, I wondered how they’d add the new branch. Would they remake the existing map to add it? So I spawned in near the spur for the Leven branch, which is on the map. Being the curious sort I spawned a train and drove the short spur, expecting it to only extend a short way. Nope. Full branch is there - the track is fully laid to Leven itself. There’s not much in the way of scenery, apart from some roads and a few bridges. Looks like the terraforming is done too. So it’s a safe bet that they’ll be working on scenery assistant open up the branch without needing to be sneaky and drive it.
If the track is there then it's just a case of adding scenery and activating it with a timetable (like MML's freight yards or Meißen on DRA) It's when there's no track (i.e. SEHS to Dartford or LIRR) that it becomes a bit more of a rebuild.
I am curious, as I drove it but recall it being single track, while the new branch is dual track. So I'm interested to see how it is updated, and what timetable they create to accomodate it
I’ve just finished a couple of services on the FC and I’ve got to admit to having enjoyed it. Yes, there are issues with scenery all over the route and some of the building assets are frankly very poor, however the overall ambience of the route is good and I’ve enjoyed driving the 170. If this gets a going over and a bit of spit and polish, it’ll be incredible I’m sure.
I know it's been some time, but just clarifying things - the services via Dunfermline terminate at Glenrothes (with some shorter ones at Cowdenbeath) and the services via Kirkcaldy terminate at Markinch (in-game, that is, since IRL they go further to Dundee and such)?
Did you guys know the Azuma runs on this route? Unfortunately the services are not playable but there is one from Markinch to Waverley at 10:13 and one from Edinburgh to Markinch at 20:20. (Sprinter Timetable) Currently working on the full timetable, should be finished soon ...
There's another Markinch to Waverley at 12:05 or so. While I was in the cab on that one started clicking buttons until I got one of those "you've used the headlamps", or something like that, messages and interestingly enough it said it was a "Lumo Class 803", especially because those don't run there
Rivet please give us an extension up to Dundee please. Then we can have long HST runs on the route just like the TSC version has.
Not sure what the Azumas are running on as the 801's from ECML only have the emergency recovery diesel equipment. Probably waiting till hell freezes over for Rivet to do anything else with this route, still haven't addressed the lack of rail resonance and running sounds on the 170's.
It sounds as if it's running on Electric ;-) The one I saw also left Markinch with open doors while Passenger were still disembarking (and they kept disembarking while it drove out of the staion...) basically just TSW as we love it!
Southbound services do stop, not yet sure about the others. They are not listed on the departure board however. But neither are they listed as AI-trains in Waverley or Haymarket... I assume they don't have a proper timetable with departure time but just a stop-flag...
But technically they would be struggling as 801’s, not sure what the maximum attainable speed is on their limited diesel power but not enough to keep passenger timings.
For a mod that’s a couple of years old? Ok then Just merely pointing out that on PC, if people wish to drive the Azuma on Fife as part of a TT, they can.
They’d have to be running on those since there are no other engines & there’s no overheads to make the run onto Fife. IIRC they top out at 40mph (on a good day).
Probabley old now, in terms of updates for futurestic purposes. But since you've mentioned the Azumas running AI, does it also have Class 220 included (Haymarket / Markinch) Aberdeen / Dundee | Glasgow respectfully? I bet it doesn't even have Class 390s layered in for AI or driveable. Let alone the dubbed Class 350s for TPE services. If you've not worked it out, Aberdeen / Dundee | Haymarket. Plus to add the Class 43 upgraded timetable / Edinburgh for Aberdeen not included Glasgow Only. Correction this is in the Glasgow - Edinburgh via Falkirk route, but still inline for this route if Class 43 was brought in. Unsure related to above Class 170s to Aberdeen.
I know what we did to it. It will happily run at line speed and accelerate sensibly etc without issue Try it. Run electric to Haymarket then do the power switch and start the diesel engine etc
According to the information I can find, the Class 801’s are only fitted with one MTU DPU per set. A five car Class 800 or 802 is fitted with three DPU’s and a nine car with five DPU’s. So sorry but IMHO DTG and Rivet are fudging it by allowing the 801’s as modelled in game to work away from the wires, when in reality they would struggle to get up any sort of speed. From what I’ve read about GWR and the fuel injector problems, if more than one DPU is out on a 5 car or 2 on a 9 car, set comes out of traffic so far as diesel operation goes.
I think you’re maybe taking it a little bit too seriously as far as the EP goes It’s a mod and it works so just enjoy it! I can’t comment on the actual Azuma in the game and what is done with it as it’s nothing to do with me.
Interestingly the real Fife Circle is getting electrification now. I think they are putting up OHLE from Haymarket to Dalmeny then all the way up to Leven. It will be crazy to see trains such as the 380 / 385 going up north. I’ve always seen them as Glasgow trains. Edit - https://scotlandsrailway.com/projects/fife-electrification
They won't be. Not unless they reversed the decision to not electrify the Forth rail bridge for which they are ordering new battery electric units.
Ah sorry, complete misunderstanding on my part. I thought this was part of the DTG/Rivet/SHG timetable, not a modded one. I shall withdraw gracefully…
S’ok. I’m only talking about the modded TT and the modded train just to be clear. IIRC we added engines to all the cars that should have had them, so it should work fairly realistically
