Now that the Cargo Line packs are out, its the first time in a while that there isn't any skyhook on the Roadmap. I wonder what's next? More cargo lines? A new route (Midland Mainline came out a while ago now)?
Pretty sure the current speculation is they’re behind the Inter7City 43 that’s been leaked. In any case I’d really like to see skyhook bring us a new 158, perhaps a TfW or GWR variant & bring the others upto scratch. I’d also like to see an updated TT for MML. Of course they do have MML they could throw some add ons for, such as 156’s, 222’s etc. Unfortunately I don’t think they’re too interested in TSW other than Adams seemingly restricted team, certainly not to do anything significant.
They are now busy developing lawn mowing simulator 2. Maybe that is the reason they are not actively working in stuff for TSW.
I could imagine them making a new german cargo line. There are many many freight wagons not in the game yet and bringing in more could also benefit other european countries like austria or czech. If its not Skyhook doing more freight, we also have a german 3rd party which is very famous for wagon packs in TS, being Railtraction.
I did really like MML (though I can't stand the HSTs) and would love them to do another route as I feel that one was done well.
I get the vibe they have stepped back from route building at least. I believe Adam said a while back when asked about extending MML that such a project was not regarded as commercially viable. Kind of strange, as pushing north to Sheffield or south to Bedford would make for a much fuller driving experience. Maybe their route builder left the team and there was no prospect of a replacement. Don’t forget, both the MML and their foray into the US scene got a mixed reception - and for good reason. Maybe there is, after all, more money to be made in a lawn mowing sim, though as I’ve said before you can do that in Farming Sim and even turn the grass into silage to sell for a profit! Or use it to feed your cows.
It's kind of a shame really because I actually really enjoy MML, and would have loved to see it reach Sheffield. (Or even just Sheffield to Derby and Nottingham and it's own separate route)
Yes I gave it a run last night, taking the HST from Leicester to Derby & then a 158 onto Nottingham. Other than the scenery being a bit iffy (line side could use some work though much better than it’s original release) it’s nice little run. What’s been nice to see with the route is how the depots get updated with new static stock - it’s come a long way from just GWE stock & looks really good in that regard. It’s a nice little diesel sprint route & it would make a great regional line with an extension, or just keep it as it is & add in the XC stock with some EMT stock DLC’s.
But these are two different things. While a route extensions is absolutely not worth it (from a revenue perspective), building and selling a completely new route is a different story. Just because they don't want to extent an old route doesn't mean they are stepping back from route development in general
I do agree it could do with a small overall, cabling troughing adding etc, but for a 30 minute HST blast it’s excellent. The VP185 engine so much more enjoyable to drive than the GWE MTU version. I do wish we had a Valenta of course, but this is a good stop gap.
Yeah I prefer the VP engine along with the different cab desk too. Just wish it had suspension. The other good thing about the route is variation in freight, going back to my earlier point about the depots, it’s a really nice route to see a lot of the more unique rolling stock that’s usually restricted to visiting other routes at one or 2 specific times.
It’s probably the Inter7city HST. It would be nice if it came with a new route but going by what some of the comments are saying in here that seems unlikely unless skyhook are being very quiet about a route they might be working on but don’t want to say anything yet. It would seem weird putting it in Fife Circle as the HST run is cut short since we can only go up to Markinch so more likely for Edinburgh - Glasgow…. Well hopefully we hear something in the March roadmap. We haven’t had Scottish content in a while so it would be nice to have something new again.
To be fair, Skyhook made the 158 for Edinburgh Glasgow and Fife Circle, which are both Rivet routes, so I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to think there may be new route it accompanies, albeit made by Rivet or someone else. Sort of a "hey we're making this route that we think a HST would well with, and since you made the EMT one..." Perhaps might explain why they haven't announced it yet, despite us all knowing it exists, if said route (if one does exist) isn't in a position to be announced yet
Likely they’d just throw it onto E2G. It’s become the racetrack for Scotrail in TSW - not necessarily a bad thing but it would be nice to get a decent looking Scottish route.
I wish they would extend to Dundee so bad. I really would like to see the Tay Bridge in this game. Having the full Fife circle, Leven and Dundee would be a whopper of a route. See this is what I said in the Fife Circle discussion thread. DTG were originally going to do up to Dundee but they decided to pass it over to Rivet… So I guess it’s really up to Rivet to extend further up north.
I agree, it’s a brilliant route and one I play frequently still. When that released I really hoped that they’d be releasing more
It was TSW3 so technically yes it’s ToD4, though it’s one of those earlier ToD4 builds so not quite as good as more recent lighting.
I've heard Trainsimulatordriver say a few times that as far as TSW goes at Skyhook, it's just the one person. So it's possible they just can't make a new route right now and are focusing on DLC expanding off their existing DLC.
Wonder if they might do a Cargoline UK car carrier pack as their next Cargoline DLC... with the WCML scenery that we have and coming out you would get it across a number of DLCs!
I'd love to see another pack with the DRS 20, maybe an RHTT/SITT pack. There is the possibility I think of using DTGs car wagon from the Kassel to Würtzburg for a 66 led pack as you suggest. Although I would love to see a GWR/Northern/TfW Class 158 (I'm sure it could go somewhere with a TT pack maybe?) or even if Rivet and Skyhook could co-op a 222/221 DLC surely that could go many a place
I'm under the impression that Skyhook is no longer working on TSW add-ons. And I'm really worried that the Class 158 never received a suspension feature and remains abandoned. Something tells me we should expect a new 158 to be developed by DTG or Rivet.
I wouldn’t mind but they did something to the 158 sounds when they released the Scottish version and not half as good as the original.
let's hope we get more options for the DRS20. Currently its use is very limited with a few timetables and scenarios on WCML South.
It's a shame, it's such a fun loco to drive. I don't know how applicable it is as of today, but I feel like even letting the 20 sub onto existing RHTT services would be an awesome move
They seem to have gone quiet since the "underwhelming" Fife circle 158 timetable release. It's probable they are working on other stuff for TSW, such as the Scottish HST, As much as I enjoy driving on the MML (It's my local route), the lack of AI at Nottingham, Derby and Leicester can be depressing. I'd love to see that done with Voyagers and XC 170s added along with other 158s performing other EMT services.
