This train is something of a no brainer, it exists in Train Sim Classic, they are equally many in service as the class 70, more fuel efficient than the class 66 (less wattage from your psu I guess??) and best of all, sounds like a italian sports car on steroids that has just taken Sulfur Hexaflouride. It is more versatile than the class 66 as it both can do freight as well ass passenger services. What are the "big hurdles" from making this a reality given that Dovetail once already made this as an add-on in TSC. I mean just listen to it!!
Well they first need to get licensing from the toc. Then they have to get reference material. Tsc might not mean good reference material to use in tsw so they might have to reget it. Then actually creating it, making sure there is a route for it, etc
The Class 68s are often used for nuclear cask trains in Britain. A Class 68 should have been included with the nuclear train pack, along with the Class 20. We should also get the other British Stadler locos (Class 88, 93, and 99.) in game.
Maybe it was the lack of functionality in the TSC version but I found the Class 68s a bit boring to drive. I was really disappointed because I love their design (and that of the 88s, 93s and the utter beast that is the Class 99)
They have the DRS license I thought? We have the DRS 66 and the 20. Could always go with ScotRail as well, or could obtain the TPE or Chiltern License.
Apparently it was only for the 66. The 20 is unbranded. The DRS 68 would be ideal though, it’s pretty universal & could reasonably stand in for several ToCs as per reality, unlike a ToC specific version.
Well whoever did the sounds certainly didn't capture the thrash that well. They also seemed a bit over powerful so it was a few seconds of throttle then power back and coast.
Unfortunately this kind of things was common in TSC, whose physics were very limited. One of the reasons why I uninstalled it on a whim and switched to TSW !
