Great will be getting it tomorrow.

So DTG haven't "handled this poorly" and what was said was correct all along. Maybe this will stop some from jumping in with both feet first in future.....or maybe not!

Reminder for PC players: Check your UserContent/DLC folder before this comes out! For instance, Aran-ECW-Time-of-Day-Update-v1.0.pak

Well not until a sale and/or the sounds are backdated on to the FC 170.

I will be happily thrashing the EU07 or EN57 on the new route or seeing if I can fudge up in one of the signalboxes!

    • The prompt to switch to 'Immersion' mode during the introductions doesn't appear
What is immersion mode in the introductions.

Is everyone happy now? I won’t be buying it tomorrow as it clashes with my plans to yell at a cloud.

    Spot on there...

The way some were throwing their toys out the pram was somewhat shameful. I think they need to re evaluate their attitude going forward.

On a brighter note, very excited for tomorrow. Just about the watch The British Aces review on the route!

No. Definitely not buying this, even if the SimRail stuff wasn’t also coming out tomorrow. I just don’t have much faith the sounds will ever get back ported to the FC 170. Quite apart from anything else, I always found ECW a bit boring compared to BML.

This seems like a decent addon and I might buy it, but going off some of the videos of it that are already on YouTube there is definitely a lot of room for improvement, especially with the class 377.

Both the 377/3 and 377/4 have the old passenger information system where it doesn't scroll through all the calling points.

The class 377/4 has a working guard panel, but the 377/3 doesn't.

The class 377/3 and 171 have a different announcement voice which sounds a lot like the real announcements, but the 377/4 and 313 have the same GWR voice as Riviera Line.

My main interest in the pack is the 171 and the timetable. I have the 313 so will stick to the timetable which features that. I am not so interested in the 377/3.

It's good to read the 377/4 is getting new sounds. I had never noticed before as rarely drove it on this route, but comparing it to the BML one you can hear that the BML one has far better sounds.

From watching TBA preview, you can hear the updated cab running sounds they sound pretty good. Also the annoying loop that was happening at 85mph has also been resolved! I think the only fair criticism which he also noticed was the PIS screens not being like the 377/387 on BML which are active and running through the stations the train will be calling at. But overall, very impressive and another feather in the cap for Rivets continued quality improvements. Will give some proper feedback once I've actually played the 171 tomorrow myself... But from the preview, it's looking pretty darn good!

I may also go in for this day 1. I love ECW and it'll be nice to revisit it with the 171 and the timetable honestly.

I'm a little apprehensive with it being Rivet but surely they can't mess up ECW being so old?

I just a few jobs still really like it but its so bright in some places and yet so dark in other places. The remaster is gonna make this route 100 x better.

The biggest Rivet red flag for me was always the timetables, with Tyler onboard, it’s not a concern anymore, I’d say with him looking after that it gives others more time to focus on route building? Riviera Line is the jewel in their crown.

Just finished my final time on the original East Coastway ahead of tomorrow's remaster - while I'm so looking forward to it and timetable/rolling stock update (much needed and very deserved finally), in a way it does feel like the end of an era though and quite sad actually in a way to enjoy as it is one final time as the route has been like this since 2019 :o - that's a very long time in TSW history and many hours and memories.

Some pics from my final playthrough today:

Oh, and how ironic/coincidental the final service for me was to Seaford and back with 313/217:

It certainly seems to have weathered the march of time more than the other routes of the period.

I went on NTP the other day for the first time in ages and I ended up exiting it. The lighting is poor and Leeds had no other trains in it except a parked up 47 and some BG's. A shame as it would be a favourite remastered.

Yeah, some routes certainly are much worse than others. Regarding NTP, I'm like that with BML even though the route and timetable is my favourite overall - but it's just too dark to enjoy nowadays (and I don't like non-TOD 4 night lighting as it doesn't feel like night), plus the fact no 700 either really spoils the immersion.

Let's hope every older, original TSW route gets remastered eventually - especially many of the German ones which are crying out for some love.

Having watched some videos from the British Ace, I'm a bit confused as to why rivet chose to use the incorrect PIS for the 377/3 and why the updated 377/4 also uses the outdated PIS. The announcements on the 171 and 377/3 sounded almost identical to real life, but why use the GWR announcements for the updated stock? Other than that the remaster and DLC look really good and I'll probably buy it soon after release as I haven't played East Coastway in a long time.

So with the big day coming tommorow I took 313 201 in it's beautiful BR blue livery for one last jaunt down to Seaford. While I agree the route has definitely aged there is still just something about it which I love. I did enjoy my run down to Seaford and there's just something I love about the 313 it's a great EMU to drive! With a separate brake handle too! ;)

    The livery was by: James#3620

313 201 Departs from Brighton station headed towards Seaford for the final time before large scale engineering works are due to be completed across the whole Eastcoastway route.

No, it was different for me on Xbox. For GWE I had to manually DL it, and It's labeled as a remaster. The other 2 just kinda showed up.... in an update I guess. They're not labeled remastered. it's the inconsistency that I found confusing. It's not a big deal, just sayin.

I'm glad they are bringing these routes back to life. I'd like to see more of the German routes with the lighting fix. Koln Aachen is enjoyable now for me.

I had never noticed the Bryan Ferry before...

I find it more funny and amusing because I'm a fan of the old Ricky Gervais Show on XFM from the early 2000s, and Karl Pilkington used this as one of his Rockbusters clues. I'm probably on my own in that regard though as I'm quite the saddo!

Have just watched Dadrails run in the 171 which was very informative as he signs the route. He said something sounds off with the 171. The route itself does look great with the new lighting and textures. I wish a little more had been done with the scenery but then it is a free remaster so I'm not overly disappointed by this one. Liam's still done a great job!

The stand out thing is the timetable though Brighton looks so busy, it was great seeing the stock moving at Eastbourne too. Tyler's done a great job with it! Nice to have some options for the 33 and the 31 also!

Will be awaiting the feedback from the initial wave of purchasers before pulling the trigger.

Edit: Not a huge fan of the GWR announcements as mentioned. The new ones for the 171 and 377 sounded very close to the real thing.

The 170’s have always sounded off. They aren’t terrible (other than being deafening in the exterior), but they aren’t the real thing.

That’s really the biggest negative I have with the 170 packs, they should be getting better with each pack but they’re really not. After a route bundling & now 2 paid packs with them, I’d have thought there would be budget for AP involvement.

I think they've got the right sounds recorded but it's subsequently the way it's mixed for the game that just doesn't hit the spot entirely. To me it's lacking grunt and some of the higher pitched notes. But as you say it is a gradual improvement over the proceeding 170 sounds.

In terms of the cab running sounds, as I've previously mentioned I am very impressed by the new sounds and they sound really good.

The scenery and Liams work is outstanding. The biggest thing I noticed is the incorrect PIS font and display that sticks out like a sore thumb, and the 377 sounds (although it's already been clarified these will be updated). If Rivet implemented the correct PIS screens for both the 171 & 377/3 they'd notice how such a small thing can have a drastic effect.

As I say though, overall I'm impressed with the entire package. It's just some small stuff that needs ironing out... I'll be buying it tomorrow and appreciate Rivets overall work on this. I'm also encouraged by their recent attention to player feedback too which gives me confidence they will be proactive in improving this on a future patch.

I will wait and see before I buy the loco pack if it now causes blurry textures on ECW for Xbox X.

Seems to be any new timetable has them yet if you run the original timetables no blurry textures.

It happened with the 170 pack on BCC.

    Following…

It seems Rivet just can’t do decent sound mixes even with reliable source material.

that’s not really a comparable situation- the original timetable only had the 323, whereas the 170 pack has 2 versions of the 170, 390, 220, 323, railtours, etc

It is happening with new timetables much more frequently because there is much more rolling stock which makes timtebles much busier. This as a result takes more memory and since consoles don't have VRAM for graphics, they run into troubles with texturing. It might not be as bad on East Coastway since the route is small and there might not be as many services as on Birmingham. I hope (although I myself am a PC player) that you will have decent experience.

Did a quick sanity check run on what was released at 10 UTC. Which is supposed to be the ECW remaster minus the new content.

    What I noticed:
    - Route visuals in menu improved
    - Lighting improved, but an evening run in Journey mode conditions was still pitch black outside of any station. The only thing I could see was the speed signs when lit up by the headlights. It was a 377/4 on Night headlights so not the 313 candles.
    - Got a TSR before Lewes, this is a pleasant surprise, since they couldnt confirm on stream if its included or not with the updates. Not the custom TSR by Tyler but the standard 40MPH TSW 6 one.
    - Had zero announcements in stations or the 377/4 on my run. It is either a bug or it automatically subbed in the Brighton Mainline one for me. Still no station announcement audio in any stations between Brighton and Lewes.
    - Loaded in a 313 run, and got train announcements working with that stock. However what feels like a big gap in the:This is (crickets) service to Brighton. It didn't say This is a Southern service.

Overall not a terrible disappointment, just the typical communication issues before launch of what is included/working.

As mentioned above I also have had zero announcements when running the 377 on a short run to Lewes. No station or onboard announcements whatsoever.

Which 377 did you use? Seems there are some differences across the 3 available types.

but there are 2 to select from, East Coastway and London Commuter, if you run with the latter, then on board announcements won't work as it's a different train within the game.

What a great looking update, many thanks. Haven't played ECW for ages but this has reinvigorated my interest.

Did I spy new tree/bush assets as well? Much needed imo, great work.

(PC) just had a quick run on a 313 between Brighton and London Rd - there were announcements on the 313 but no announcements whatsoever on stations.
