The run I picked starts around 0715 and setting it in March with a little fog and light cloud produced some nice lighting effects. Made me actually appreciate the route a little more which, in all honesty, I haven’t spent much time on since it came out. Plus 100km will polish off most of my remaining Feb Mastery distance requirements!
Tier 2 ist nothing Special 3 Scenario 10 Timetable Drive 200 Miles/ 321 km Only counts by successfully complete a Service
The fact that Tier 1 is entry level is fine, but we could indeed do with some beefier Tier 2 challenges.
Very lacklustre. What, do they think we are all wimps or something, don’t relish a decent challenge? March with 31 days would have been ideal to revisit the 1000 mile/1500 km challenge. And as we know, the scenarios can be completed simply by save scumming the walk to marker ones on Sherman Hill or SoS.
Once again though, same old rubbish... Tier One shown as complete even though the distance is at 0 and hasn't registered the 25 miles I just drove from Stafford to Crewe (which should leave 5 miles to do). Can't they fix this wretched thing! Well I'm off to find a quick five mile drive so at least I'll know I've got the proper total.
The third one : "Failure is not an option", means if the SIFA or other safety system is triggered even once, you loose.
Tier 1 counted OK for me, but Tier 2 did not count the Km even when I successfully finished the Scenario. Also, the scenario was counted for the Monthy Mastery but not for the Isle of Wight Mastery (as it should). The DTL mastery tracker is a major pain in the *ss.
Tier1 worked without any Problems. Tier2 The Scenarios won't trigger; this might be because I'm using the G6 FreePlay scenario. I did it 6 Times already and nothing happened
This could also be the old problem of the objective count not visually updating, while in the background it still registers.
Yeah, this happened to me with two of the objectives last month, weirdly one of them was visually updating before resetting to zero (but still counting). A support ticket was sorted the same day to correct them visually once I'd completed Tier 2.
I don't think mileage ever displays properly for me in my game, but it always seem to count behind the scenes.
I wish it were so, but I made a Kassel - Würzburg schedule without error, but the kilometers did not appear.
I have collected miles that way, so he's probably correct. Just completed the service, cutting it off half wat doesn't count.
Checked again, still counting up. Maybe it's just the old issue if the counter not updating on your end
Kind of abandoned mine for the moment and playing SimRail and FS25 instead. Might pick it up again next week if I decide to buy the Czech route.
Well I did jump back in for a couple of runs. However, it seems if you split a run and save then come off, it's only counting the distance on the last leg from loading the save to finishing the run. I just did a 380 run across Edinburgh to Glasgow which should have bagged 47 miles/75km but only seems to have added what I drove loading in after Falkirk.
Ps5. The milage in the second tier does not track for me at all. Still at 0. Edit: turns out it counts but just doesn’t update on screen
I feel silly, but I just realized for tier 2 that mileage will probably not accumulate until after three scenarios and 10 timetables have been completed. This could have been worded better. I will confirm this tonight. " Drive 200 miles / 321km, but it only counts if you successfully complete the Scenario/Timetable "
The roadmap article gave this description for the last challenge: "Failure is Not an Option - Drive 200 miles/321km, but this will only count if you successfully complete the scenario and timetable challenges first." Seems to be the case that this is working as such, as my mileage counter got reset to zero and started counting again only after I completed the 10th timetable....
This was actually the first month in living memory that I was able to complete both tiers without having to submit a ticket to unstick something, most unusual, and probably an anomaly...
The way it was worded in the roadmap article: you do have to complete either the timetable objective or the scenario objective before the mileage starts to count. This is exactly what happened on my end: the mileage counter started counting after I completed my 10th timetable... This is a new feature yet again, which seems to work but was poorly worded in the instructions on the mastery page on dovetail live (and the in-game screen).
Still not 100% sure on that. My mileage started building straightaway, then stalled, then started but only the portion of the run from loading a save to finishing.
Yes, mine started counting at first, then reset to zero and started counting again when I completed the TT objective. Could be that DTG found the mileage goal was set up wrong and then fixed it !?
So the I’ve not got the game on at the moment.. hence the questions…. There’s a dlc for Preston to Carlisle that cover 90 miles of track? If so, is it a worthwhile purchase? (Hopefully not the stupid question it would seem to be) Secondly, the WCML, does that cover Milton Keynes to Crewe or Birmingham to Crewe? And again, worth the ££?
The full Preston to Carlisle run is just over 90 miles. There are currently two other WCML sections… WCMLS Euston to Milton Keynes which is just under 50 miles. WCML Birmingham to Crewe which is around 55 miles. There is a Trent Valley route in development which will run Milton Keynes to Crewe via Rugby and Nuneaton but no release date yet.
It's more likely that was just a delay on ths backend of the mileage tracking. It would make no sense to force arbitrary completion of in-tier objectives before the one that is going to take the longest to begin tracking. FWIW, it began tracking for me straight away.
The real problem is that when one of the items is not counting as expected we start to wonder if it is a problem with the description, or the description is right but the implementation isnt, or DTLive is hanged and not counting anything, or DTLive is counting but the game is not showing it ... The problem is that past experience demonstrates that nothing in the mastery system is reliable at all.
I get that, and I don't disagree. But that is the way it is now described in yesterday's RM article. Hence my comment (and confusion)
This is just it, right? I still got to complete every monthly mastery yet, without submitting too many tickets. But the uncertainty is the issue.
Ah, I see what you mean now! That is some unusual wording, I agree. I think maybe what they're trying to emphasise is that the timetables and scenarios themselves need to be completed in order for the mileage to track, but what they have inadvertently done is make it sound like you need to complete the previous objectives first...
Despite the issues, completed this month's challenges pretty quickly. Maybe it's time to create a third tier with a big mileage or points goal, just to keep us entertained
That's exactly how I read it, no link at all to the other objectives. Basically they're stopping someone spawning an ICE3 in the Training Centre, setting AFB to 330kph and letting it run round and round while you go and catch up on some TV watching. Not that I've ever done that, oh no no no*. *every time there was a long distance requirement!
Oh.. I think I’m a bit too old for posters but what do you do with said posters? Sounds like it’s aimed at kids.
They are just in game stickers, nothing to get excited about or something meaningful like a £1 voucher off a DLC.
