For $40 I expect something with a bit more " oomph " than that frankly. But if you're satisfied with " quiet " and " less substantial " , go for it.

With the advantages it brings vs the caveats of busier, mainline (which you conveniently cut from the quote), I sure will.

It seems safe to assume Liberec Stará Paka is coming this week, together with the BR145 Expert. Dropping two add-ons in a single week isn’t logical and isn’t ideal for the sales of each one.
Edit: I mean Liberec Stara Parka this week and the 145 Expert next week of course.

End of the tax year in the UK, not sure what month DTG run their financial year to & from, but April is pretty standard. I would not be surprised to see even more DLC’s drop this month.

Well, I wouldn’t go that far, but I’m pretty sure they’re behind schedule in the release cycle. And that three‑month schedule is insanely full, so yes, they’ll have to start catching up and that’s exactly what seems to be happening, at least from how I interpret it.

And that may cause them to rush a bunch of releases to market before they're properly cooked, leading to the inevitable buggy or unpolished routes and trains, perhaps missing some track or catenary and, in my own recent experience, lacking Raildriver compatibility and save function reliability. Not to mention the first lockups I've ever had in more than 20 years of playing TSC and TSW.

(And to think my wife told me to give up complaining for Lent. Too hard, I chose chocolate instead. :D)

It was similar last year, we were getting a couple of things (sometimes nothing or just one DLC) around winter, then March came & we got like half the routes on the roadmap dropped. Mildmay, Cardiff City, Thomas & then Zwolle. Other than that we were seeing one route per month pretty much, with rolling stock/gameplay packs dropping between. The only busier month was July when we got 5 DLCs in 4 weeks, but again only one was a route.

Yeah though what’s new, we saw with ECW remastered it came too soon & you could tell they were wrestling with the date on that with how little notice they gave.

Id have hoped with more third parties they’d be better positioned to pace themselves, but it appears very 50/50 (at best).

Sorry, but I find it a bit far‑fetched and somewhat conspiracy‑like. We don’t know DTG’s financial situation, so I’m not going to get involved in that.

Haha what conspiracy? I just mentioned March is always the busiest month & that I wouldn’t be surprised to see it any different this year.

So far, in three months, not a single paid DLC made by DTG has been released. And if you look at the latest roadmap, about 95% of it is third‑party, meaning there’s very little coming directly from DTG as a developer. The only thing currently shown on the roadmap from DTG is the BR147 and New York to Stanford, so I don’t really follow the story you’re telling. I’m not going to blow up these kinds of nonsense theories or pretend I know anything about DTG’s financial situation. What I do know is that we’re in a new year and things are always quiet around the holidays, so it could very well be related to that.

I popped in on Matt’s charity stream over the weekend and while I was watching he said March is going to be a busy month for releases. Pretty standard for the end of the financial year.

Yay. Hopefully that means NY-Stamford is coming in hot. Alex mentioned on stream a month ago how the route was in “the final stages of development”.

Surely at least one of the 3 x 3P UK routes must be nearing release, or have they fallen into the hole of DTG announcing too much, too soon?

Anyhow back on topic, barring any yellow or red flags from the stream fairly certain the Czech route will be a Day One for me even if I would have preferred a 749/751 (plus loco hauled coaches) over the 750 and the dinky little 810 Railcar or meaty 850/851 DEMU as the unit.

As a local to this route, I can tell you this is not a territory for most of these classes, 749/751s were especially hated in Liberec, and they did all they could to get rid of them throughout history. 850/851 I don't think ever appeared up here. 810 could rarely be seen here, but it was a correct choice to start with 843s because they served all types of trains on this route, express or slow. If I were to expand the coming roster further on, I would definitely go with 753.7s and 742s, the first being a rebuild 750 with a completely new engine, sound, controls, yet similar look, the other being a helper and light freight loco with a very different look.

What about class 770? Or have they been retired long ago?

If the performance on console is good enough and no popping sounds (Xbox), I will buy this route very soon.
However, it looks like this route has a lot of trees and a lot of trees usually means, it will not run that fluid on console.

So I hope for the best, but expect less then the best to no become disappointed.

Appreciate the insight. Just that, from an enthusiast point of view, the older locos and railcars seem to have more character. Hopefully if this route is a success, another one which features that traction will follow. I still want to see Kubova Hut and Nove Udoli etc. in the game!

They're still in operation in some places, even, some with private companies, a handful with state cargo. They have not, however, operated on these routes as they are not suitable for 6-axles. They're one of the most produced locos on the planet, we supplied the entire eastern block with them :D
That is, without a doubt, I personally also adore the sound of the 749/751 crazy 6-cylinder more, and I would love to see routes with them; I just pointed out this one would not be that accurate. There is the Jeseník region further in the east of the country, where they dominated the wood trains for a long time; that area would have a potential for a "freight-network-like" route in the future. It is very remote and steep there.

I get the nostalgia, but let’s be honest: we’re a bit older, and the biggest buying group isn’t people our age. Sales figures show that modern content is simply more popular than trains from the ’70s, ’80s, or ’90s. That’s why what Vector Simulation is doing is so clever they’re offering a route with an ’80s vibe (because time has stood still there), but it’s actually set in 2018. It blends two worlds, and I think that makes it very attractive for younger players.

749s can still be seen, albeit not centralised around one depot. They are now mostly owned by private groups for freight and tourist train operations, so they can still be seen. Not far from this route, you can see a tourist train with a couple of 749s swapping in the lead of a tourist train every weekend from spring to autumn.

We've had three remasters which earned them zero dollars and one small DLC (171/377) that's half the price of a full route, so I don't think DTG is dropping a lot of DLC for cash at the moment. That theory just doesn't have legs.

March does make sense from a marketing/sales viewpoint because it's a non-sales month for several sellers like Steam. That gets you more attention and less expectation of a "sale." In fact DTG seems to release often in the "down" times for other games like March and August. Not exactly of course, but there does seem to be a pattern.

It makes sense to release some layers and remasters in "sales" times to encourage people to go back and get those in the rush since they're not looking to make much on them, it's more setting them up for later.

Long story short, I do think March will be quite busy with the NEW releases now that the smaller stuff is out of the way. Not sure if it's a great idea to release TOO much in one month and cannibalize some of your own sales, but I guess if a bunch of stuff gets done at once, you don't want to hold onto it for TOO long.

As a boss used to say "products don't make any money sitting on the shelf."

Very nice and very reminiscent of a Class 26 thrashing through the Scottish Highlands.

The engines are quite similar, large-bore inline 6-cylinders

I love learning details that can only be learned from locals. The post-Soviet space, represented by me, would very much like to see the ChME3, Even if it's the Czech version with a narrower gauge. But if it doesn't work in this region, we'll wait for another route.

All we need is DLC with a "Bangle" 742.
