Hello, I have several routes that require the Platform Clutter Scenery Pack or the Town Scenery Pack. My question is, do I need to do anything after purchasing them, or are they automatically installed in the routes? Thank you.
If you buy them from Steam they should automatically download and install. Once installed, any route that needs them will automatically display them.
Hello, thank you for the quick reply. Steam suggests purchasing the packs not directly through Steam, but from within the simulator itself. Does this make a difference, and is this correct? Do I need to unlock the packs for the individual routes in the editor? Thanks. Regards, Mario Send feedback
Should not matter. I'm not even sure how you purchase them from within the sim. In the end, Steam will install them. As far as I can tell, DTG used to have their own shop selling Steam keys and this entire UI is a remnant of it. Revenue aside it made some sense due to workshop integration.
I wasnt aware these packs existed - are they just for people who route build or is there any specific DLC that requires or uses them?
I have a number of routes that use these packs. I just purchased them through Steam. I have no idea how you would purchase within the game. I've never bought anything from within the game in the whole 16 years I've been playing.
There is a Store page bottom right on the main screen but like you I always purchase thru Steam as its easier.
There are no payware routes that requires them, as far as a I know, but a number of good community routes use them. They can also be added by a player using the editor to whatever routes they want. I've used them to add detail to some routes I've got.
I suggest you search Youtube for some tutorials. It's too involved to explain here. But it is worth learning, if only to learn how to place and move scenery objects.
For those wanting to use it for route building, the Chatham Main Line has the same assets as the Platform Clutter Scenery Pack included for free. The same applies to the Construction and Town scenery packs. Obviously for other routes that require it, you’ll need the original version.
