Dovetail just uploaded the route showcase video, and boy... I love the New Haven Line a lot but it's going to be hard to order it... Honestly, for me, even the 2020 version is better... What happened ??
DTG really needs to work on texturing objects - some look like they don't have their own texture at all, just material from a 3D editor applied.
This just looks an awful lot like the way I always complain about TOD4 lighting just blasting all the texture out of stuff. It's probably using the 2020 textures, but you can't tell because of how washed out it is.
The bridge looks brilliant but the colours look pretty washed out VS TSW2020. You can see the difference. TSW has had this ever since TOD4 and especially at certain times of the day such as the afternoon or mornings when it’s clear weather. The only time you get strong vibrant colours is during evenings while the sun sets. I feel like this is where TSW could really do with an improvement.
I don’t think that’s a draw distance issue sadly… they probably just haven’t modelled tall NYC buildings where they should be. As said above though it could be a WIP screenshot.

but was rivet directly involved in the route development? wasn't it just tyler who created the scenarios and the timetable for it? btw, tyler work on class 170 pack was good
Here’s another view. Looks a little bit better from this angle but still not quite like the real version of the city. I love how they modelled the Freedom Tower. Nice detail. Can’t see the Empire State Building though….
Yeah much better, they really captured that giant void in the middle of the city. They’ve done NYC way too many times for it to be looking this bad, and now they have the gall to charge premium pricing for it too.
Tune into tomorrows stream. We will be running an amtrak service along this stretch and you might be happily surprised . To be clear, preview photos are approved sometimes a decent chunk of time before development ends.
I mean yeah, but often they’re just what we’re going to get, and it perplexes me that DTG are unable to get more upto date versions? This is the media being used to show the route off. It’s not doing a very good job.
i really do hope thats not the case. or else how is it worth this much for just copying the old asset and placing it in this new one. This is not good DTG Team I am happy that you finally did the stamford line, but there are some work that still need to be work on.
Isn’t it just an updated version of 2020? Don’t think it was built from scratch. Def looks like a WIP since manhattan is missing buildings that were shown in a newer screenshot.
Yea this is a much better representation of what to expect. I wish they would had shown other captures that were taken. But before you buy please tune in to the stream and that should make it easier to make your decision

Just going to say that after watching the showcase video I'm not impressed at all. Hope that, as Max1319 says, the DLC is better than what was shown in the showcase video. If that is the case, wonder why they make showcase videos that present the product as something that is worse than what is actually released. Makes no sense.
this has rivet games written all over it that bridge structure reminds me of the fife circle houses textures.
bridge still has the same bland textures on the brick structure regardless of it being darker and zoomed away
So I can't show any photos at the moment, but I did get up close to the bridge asset. Up close and as you are driving, it is pretty detailed compared to the clip from the preview. You can see the individual stones for example. I think it was the lighting, the distance of the camera, and possibly video compression that affected the look of the asset in the clip. We will make sure to take a look during the stream tomorrow.
it could be pre post before everything else was finalize which they decide to not go through all trouble to get a better representation. I hope that won't be the case.

I don't know why but i feel that lighting in grand central terminal does not look correct, it doesn't feel like grand central terminal at all. If anyone have a insight to this please feel free to answer, cause when i look at grand central terminal photo that they posted the lightning still seem wrong. the lower level as well. Does anyone know if the grand hall for grand central terminal where the clock and schedule or the main hall be in this route for us to explore or not? Anyway so excited for this route, i hope the sound of the train and everything is amazing, also where is the PSA announcement, platform announcement and train announcement? this is what i mean by the lightening is wrong. compare to the in game it look so weird and make the ambient and feeling so wrong.
As someone that walks through there several times a week, it could be darker. But other than that it’s pretty close. And to be honest I don’t know that I’d want it to be darker because in real life you still see the details, but in the game you aren’t able to see them when there isn’t enough light.
Played a bit Harlem Line (originally released for TSW2). Compared Harlem 125th Street with the new version shown in the accelerated video posted in the DTLive article by DTG. I would say it is 100% reused, with the exception of the blue litter-box that is a collectible and probably replaced for something else in the new route. Colors are a bit different too, probably because everything has been adapted for TOD4. What I'm expecting right now is that all the area that was present in the original Harlem Line DLC has been reused, adapted to TOD4. All the scenery above GCT has been improved using assets from the Morristown DLC (this is OK, as it is recent). Of course they also added the extra floor at GCT. It is kind of the USA version of the Riesa - Dresden -> Leipzig - Dresden operation. Including having to keep both routes in your hard drive because you need the layers. The timetable seems good, but the Harlem Line DLC is pretty much mandatory to get the M7A and M3A. Without these the Harlem part of the DLC is going to be a ghost town. No wonder why they are making a bundle with it and the Acela. If we jump to the Penn side of the line, we need to buy Morristown Line, NJ TRANSIT ALP-45, LIRR Commuter and LIRR M3 to fill it. These have no discount right now. Other than that, it is great that the SD40-2 is included for the freight services. For sure the timetable is going to be the highlight of this DLC, but a lot of it is needed and it will be very noticeable if any of it isnt there. If the Hell Gate bridge has been improved, and there are no other assets that look as bad as that bridge looks in the screenshot we have, this is probably an OK-ish, not a terrible, DLC but probably not worth paying 40€. For sure not for those that do not own the layers. Not with all the other excellent quality DLCs that have released this month and the ones that are coming next week that are selling at the same price. Unless the complete your collection bundle discount is really awesome this is going to be an easy "wait for a good sale" material.
