Could someone from DTG tell me if there gonna be a PS5 pro patch so we can get the full advantage from PSSR 2.0 update so the flurry texture and frame rate will go away and we can have full layers on Frankfurt S-bahn
    Cheers

No! The PS5 Pro is useless for TSW because TSW doesn’t use any upscaling techniques. There are no plans for that either. For TSW, the PS5 Pro isn’t a different kind of console and it never will be. The term ‘Pro’ refers to different types of upscaling, and TSW doesn’t benefit from that at all.

Yeah, it is what it is. You didn’t buy the Pro specifically for TSW, right? If you did, I’m afraid that was a pretty pointless purchase.

Man I really hope they don’t take my frame rate away.

Of course not but it’s 2026 and why not use the technology that are there like other games do? I mean especially when we console players gets reduced timetables and layers

Upscaling is just one thing the PS5 pro brings on the table. For TSW the more powerful GPU is a benefit for sure. I have both, the PS5 and the PS5 pro and there is a significant difference in performance.

Upscaling will not help TSW at all, even if it would be implemented. For utilising PSSR to a significant amount the game needs to be brought to Sony to train the AI algorithm with it. That will probably cost a ton LOVE of money to do. Without training PSSR will do nothing much to a game at all. Upscaling is already in place anyways for most games on consoles. The console renders the game in lower res and upscales it then to the set resolution of the display. That's upsaling. Any TV set can do that these days. Some better, some not. To benefit with a huge amount from AI upscaler the AI it needs machine learning before (for specific games in this case). All official PSSR enabled games are pre-trained.

Funny enough I noticed that Wonders of Sodor is labelled as "PS5 Pro Enhanced" whatever that means lol

It’s pretty sad how easy it is to get that label, can be anything as little as removing the frame cap (which of course isn’t [debatably] an improvement).

Funnily enough it was only made much easier to get the enhanced label, as the PS4 Pro version was deemed too strict to obtain.

Just would like to point out that PSSR wouldn't be useless if they lowered the base resolution to use the GPU resources elsewhere.

Pro also doesn't just refer to upscaling

It has hardware accelerated RDNA 4 functions for ray tracing, which granted would not be any use in TSW

It also has a not very talked about cpu high frequency mode which based on some rumoured numbers increases cpu clock speed by 10% for around 1.5% gpu decrease. Crimson Desert developers recently mentioned this, as it helps with CPU bottlenecks. Lets face it this is an issue in TSW.

Must say though it's best use at this time would be memory as it added 2GB of slower DDR5 RAM freeing up more of the GDDR6 for games.

So there would be nothing stopping DTG increasing the texture pool size so at least some of us console owners can get shot of blurry textures

More CPU power, memory & a more efficient GPU is so far from useless.

You said the pro was useless as TSW doesn’t use upscaling, but the pro has more to offer than just PSSR as outlined above.

Sony themselves would have to add support for that feature. They’re have started adding PSSR v2 to a bunch of games that will be included in the latest patch. Resident Evil: Requiem is the first game to see this enhancement.

I still would like to see TSW7 have PS5 Pro Enhanced support though, but it really depends on the developer. They have added this feature to Thomas: WOS, so I don’t see why TSW7 shouldn’t include pro enhanced support.

PS5 Pro Enhanced support has nothing to do with DTG. The technology used is by the console hardware, they use PSSR Ai to improve FPS and Graphic fidelity in real time.
Just like with AMD’s and Nvidia’s DLSS & FSR for PC.
To say it’s useless for TSW is a bad take. I bet if you was to compare Thomas: WOS with a base PS5 & PRO you’d notice a considerable difference.
When I eventually get round to buying Thomas: WOS myself (waiting for a physical copy) I will test this out myself. Thomas: WOS is identical architecturally to TSW base game, as it’s still using UE4.
If I’m wrong I put my hands up, but until I do I stick by my statement.

As I’ve already stated Thomas: WOS received Pro PS5 enhanced support, so I would see no reason for TSW7 to include this feature.

Where is this information from that there is a special WOS version? Is that official communicate by DTG or is that a claim made by yourself?

Bro it says on the official website and in-game stores that it’s “PS5 Pro Enhanced”.
What does that mean “Special version”? lol. It’s the base game that uses PSSR upscaling. Which outputs at a higher FPS and Graphic fidelity on the PS5 Pro. By your logic AMD and NVidia are lying to their customer base too. They just stick the “this game uses upscaling technology” willy nilly!

So Sony are lying? What about all the other Pro enhanced games, do they not use PSSR upscaling?
I’ve played pretty every Pro enhanced game that has been released, and let me tell you there is a difference between the base PS5 and Pro. Yes, I own both versions of the PS5 and test games quite frequently on my 144hz QLED tv.

Wow, no need to get so aggressive! I’m only asking. It happens often enough that all kinds of claims are made without any explanation.
That’s really good news, though. Glad to hear that’s happening now. Hopefully it’ll be the same for TSW7!

My bad, my comment did come across a tad aggressive. Sorry.

I hope so. I don’t know if the Pro user count has gone up slightly. I was very shocked to see Pro support added to WOS.

No problem! I hope they will add this to a new TSW version in the future. PS5 Pro is very powerful and not very useful now. (It will not use the full advantage now)

The current PSSR v1 has its problems and can make pro supported games look worse. I’m hoping PSSR v2 can fix that.
