No instead of prepping the build to show the Medway valley route the devs have been working flat out in trying to sort the Penalty brake bug out on the M8. Thats why the stream was postponed till next week.

Dissapointing yes, but imagine the spleen being vented by the community if the penalty brake bug went unfixed.

That still doesn't make sense. If there's a completed build ready to release, then there's a build they can use for a preview

 

If anybody cares, according to British ace in their ambassador discord the reason given for the higher price is due to ‘supplier costs’, whatever that means. But more importantly, it shouldn't be the new standard

 

We probably just got charged interest on them fixing an issue before release.

 

As the nice as the explanation is, do we really need to rely on ambassadors to tell us this?

 

the "ambassadors" need to guarantee the dlcs for free, so it's obvious they'll come up with some justification for us to paying the price of a third-party premium route for a standard dtg route

Or supplier costs have actually increased. It may have something to do with AI pushing up all computer related costs (GPUs, RAM, storage, server costs) and perhaps a little to do with rising energy costs due to unnecessary wars waged by crazy world leaders. DTG and their suppliers will be facing these increased costs and it gets passed on to us unfortunately. The direct and knock-on effects of these increased costs are profound so a 10% increase in DLC cost is understandable. There may be more increases to come.

 

Finally, some realism. Inflation is always a factor in everything, so wages go up, costs go up. And that's just 'normal' inflation before you factor in the specifics mentioned here.

Software companies can only do so much to absorb these extra costs and not pass them on to the consumer, but eventually the 'standard' price for something has to go up.

 

No they don’t. And from the initial feedback on the route it’s not looking good so far for the £33 asking price.

Yes Riviera Line was just about okay, but they still couldn’t get the 150 right and they completely ignore the masses of flawed content in their wake. Oh yes and the 171 pack is recent, looking at the feedback on that all sorts of issues. So I will not part with full price for any product made by Rivet or that it comes to light they have been involved with. 70% off in a sale is my best offer.

Perhaps there was more oversight given Riviera was supposedly the “in house” UK route for the TSW6 package.

But from what I’ve read about the 171 it was largely a copy and paste job even down to the same stuck horn note the 170 has (another bug they not only ignored, but proceeded to replicate). And the 377/3 is coming in for huge criticism re the sounds.

 

To add, my understanding is that the only difference between a 171 and 170 is the coupler. The 171 can be coupled to a 377 where as the 170 uses a different coupler.

 

I for one will not be buying this route. TML Studios The Bus which has a one to one scale of Berlin with multiple bus lines and buses will be coming out next thursday. I'll save my Xbox Store credits for that instead

 

Transport Fever 3 must also be getting close. Almost mandatory purchase which will see TSW gathering tumbleweed at least for a while.

 

After Cities Skylines follow up, I’ll be giving TF3 a cautious approach. TML’s The Bus isn’t exactly a stellar development either, they’re busy selling DLC & porting a game to console before they can even finish core features & AI traffic.

 

Maybe the increase is driven by higher costs. But is a 12.5% increase justified? Some of that increase can be attributed to DTG's effective monopoly in train simulation. Some may be due to the factors you mention. And the chosen ( by whom? ) exchange rate may account for some of it.

But with a price now in excess of $50 with tax, a Rubicon has been crossed for me. Many AAA games are less expensive and this is just for one dlc.

DTG need to come on the forum and explain such a dramatic price increase.

 

Yeah, things are getting too expensive for me too. It will be very rare for me to buy a TSW DLC at release price now. I never bought that much at release anyway but now it’s out of the question for very nearly everything. I won’t say everything because I might buy JT’s next route at release just because I know how much use I’ll get from it. One thing I’m certain of is that release prices will never go down, so sales are the only option. If DTG do explain it themselves they will just say the costs have gone up and they have tried to keep the price increase as low as they can. It’s all they can say.

 

That still isn't good enough for me to justify that outrageous price tag. We have New York Penn on various other routes, being reused each and every time it's presented, resulting in the outstanding bug of trains clipping through the platform, and dispatching issues. This can coherently be expected for the Stamford route as well because of the pattern that's put in place.

There's also a decent chunk of the Harlem line already in game, sure receiving a much needed ToD 4 upgrade along with scenery, but the length, rolling stock, and locations already present in other DLC's doesn't exactly deserve that premium tag. Also if we take in account that they still haven't solved blurry textures and this is a heavily packed route with major terminus's extremely close in proximity (GCT/NYP), and now that GCT contains both levels of track.

 

Well, the m3a and m7a aren't even part of the route, just layers so why would they get updates. Layers don't get updates so why does it seem like a problem with this dlc

 

If Rivet is involved in some ways (what I also supected as I read the article) then it means a high chance that there will be again some stations with these "beam me to the next platform"-´sh* stuff. That was (as I know) in the past on every route Rivet was involved. Not at all sations, but enough. And sorry, but if a developer - whoever - is not able or too lazy to build proper stations where you can simple WALK (and TSW is able to let a user walk, and thats too one of the TSW-features from the very beginning) from one platform to another like other developers are able to do, then is there no reason to give them a "huge credit"! I dont ask for walkings far up to 10 kilometres away from the tracks, even not 1km, but at least the station itself should be walkable! Those BeamMe-portals are only pathetic.
And if this will be here again the case, then they can get my 40euros somewhere in, where the sun never shines.
