Also, what we'd actually get, for licensing reasons, would probably be more like "DTGWE"...

The yard is there, (and a bit of the Hudson line track) just without any buildings

At the end of the day despite the track being there, there must have been a reason..but hey should they do the Hudson line at some point some of the track is already laid!

Be nice Bill :) . But even if I had the option I wouldn’t recommend driving without it. I already see it, why I didn’t get a warning and found myself rushing behind another emu :)

The amount of traffic on this matches so nicely with the amount of traffic in real life. It’s crazy how many trains and running through rush hour between the MNR (all line destinations) and Amtrak. I’ve run both off peak and peak and that difference was represented so well.

Well, let's put it this way: a LOT of the "signals" on this route, like on the Harlem, have no visible lights at all; without in-cab signaling you're driving blind. Also, as dense as the traffic is, sure, you can turn off ATC and run at line speed- but then you're just hammering yourself into red signals and waiting for the train ahead to open the distance.

where and when did I say it would be something quick to do?

I said they could do it using the mildmay line as an example (less likely) or also as was done with the SEHS extension and sell it as a US base route for the next tsw iteration (more likely)

People seemed to for about the 20 miles of the NEC party of route:) as I said before , it barely fit as it is, not to mention we had to plead and suggest just to get the Yankee station station in :)

Hardly matters when the HUD exists, that covers all sins in regards to missing info safety systems have. And let's be honest, the game's made under the assumption you have and are using it. Even correctly made routes often still have tons of areas that need rock solid memorization that IRL train drivers get many hours of training for.

Also I'm sure with some of the NE stuff, the speed or warning level still appears on the in cab display, even if you have the penalty system disabled. I've driven the old M3 quite successfully on LIRR 2.0 and never found myself about to pile in the back of a stationary preceding train.

Once you learn how to read the upcoming signals from the cab, it’s pretty easy to avoid the penalties. Plus you just prepare for the areas where you know there can be more traffic (which on this line is pretty much everywhere).

Are there going to be any updates to the Amfleet cars to address the ability to have Conductor mode? This is by no means a big deal as all, but for night rides it would be nice to include the actual vestibule lighting (and light switches) to help with lighting in between cars. I know it’s usually kind of dark anyway, but both sets of NJT cars have them and it makes a difference when you turn on the lights there as you are getting ready to begin a service.

There are some issues with the wires that have been fed back, particularly on curves in some areas of the route.

But that takes the sense of satisfaction out of finding an AI service that goes off the map and riding it as a passenger to just beyond the invisible walls!

The MNRR M8 is abeutful train recreated in TSW. Nice job to DTG for recreating it. But as this route was based in 2015, I have NO idea why the MNRR M2/4/6 were NOT included here.

In 2015 the final M2/4/6 trains were running, it would make sense to include these as they did run from 2011-2015 together.

    DTG dodged that bullet, typical...

I got this route mainly because of Brandon!!! Stellar work on the signals mate!!!
As for the M8 being forced to having the cab ATC and ACSES on as default. I am not a fan of that, but meh, our company the MTA has it's problems and well, safety is something we take very seriously. Still, it is accurate to operating in real life soo, good to know how us operators actually work.

Stamford-New Haven is big enough to be the next route entirely, not an "extension."
The only "extension" I can see being reasonable would be the rest of the Harlem line and integrtate it into this route, since about HALF the rather short 24 mile Harlem line is already in this route too, making the old route half redundant.
Granted that's another 12 miles onto an already busy route and might affect any dependencies from the Harlem line (such as the native stock of the Harlem line layering)
I guess it is what it is....although the idea of this being an opportunity to develop a "seamless upgrade" is there like in other games.
You buy Stamford and then buy the "Harlem upgrade" and get that 12 miles and stock for a few bucks as a DLC, which "unlocks" lines that already exist in Stamford, not a "jump" point but just opening up that track. It'd be a good test case for DTG/TSW.

However, if that would cause a degradation of Stamford with it's already busy traffic... then never mind.

I did get a chance to operate an ACS-64 on an Amtrak intercity back in 2019, I do remember the section in NYC where I am from and from what I can remember. The signals are spot on, even down to the speed and ATC changes.

Fun time getting to operate an ACS-64. Also I operate in TSW with all safety systems on as default now. Helps to learn the routes and it is more fun to learn than to just stick the power and go. But as I mentioned in the past, I prefer getting that choice as I can take trains on different routes in TSW which is why I love this game. Still, the M8's ATC being active all the time is quite annoying, but I can deal with it.

It just annoys me that DTG dodged the bullet by not adding the M2/4/6 in this DLC. It would justify the price as it's steep for a route that I own 68% of. I own BOTH Harlem Line and NEC NY-Trenton as well as the original NY- New Rochelle route from 2018. DTG should have given this for FREE to those who owned all 3 parts of the route.

The only new section to TSW is from New Rochelle to Stamford (and the Pelham connector to MNRR mainline). Idk why DTG did not go straight to New Haven (it's only 78 miles - Preston-Carlisle is 90 miles) and include the Danbury or New Caanon branches. Oh wait I know why!!! Gotta make us pay for more train DLC.,.. This was a great opportunity to go to New Haven and include the M8 and M2/4/6 with bar cars. DTG also left out the single car B car M8 cars and their respective bar cars. If your going to do the M8, do it right and include ALL variants aka making the bar cars and single unit B cars... This route is good, but of course it has to be let down due to that. i can't help but wonder if this route was going to go straight to New Haven, but with how DTG is pushing out DLC so fast now it was cut down. If that is an expansion, it needs to be FREE to exisitng owners and with associated train DLC... Wishful thinking maybe... My only hope for U.S content is 3rd party devs now, Please JustTrains make a U.S route, we need a U.S route with JustTrains quality and accuracy haha

It's not the "same" as the other routes. It's parts of the areas but FAR improved in my opinion. The older routes are nowhere near the same level, and there's a reason the older route was discontinued. What is with so many people demanding so much "free" work from others?
You bought it so it was obviously worth the cost to you.
Over half of it (well over 1/3) is brand new too, so should that $20 of content be handed out like candy?
Did the developers not earn their paychecks making it?

Expanding to new haven would’ve probably pushed this route to 60-70 dollars range and not many would buy it ( I would) but not many. The entire New Haven line is extremely dense Urban-suburban area and that would acquire a lot of development time for custom asset and other. It would’ve been nice for them to do it but 78 miles of dense urban area is a huge task. And as someone said up above, even the remaining mile between Stamford and New Haven is a whole new route on its own

A counter argument for that would be Preston to Carlisle... If we can get a 90 mile route delivered by the wonderful JustTrains, why can't DTG do that as well??? They did that with Kassel-Wurzburg back in TSW 3. Also you have to remember, many of the final routes that release for TSW are longer, but time constraints and less resources cut them down. So for this route it is likely it was going to go straight to New Haven, but DTG wanting to push out more DLC either by Focus Entertainment pushing them too, or higher ups is causing all the mass DLC's they are pushing out right now to be half baked and full with bugs. It's insane how some people are still supporting DTG even though they are basically milking this game. Metro North-Stamford is the FIRST new TSW DLC I have bought since TSW 6's launch. To their credit as I mentioned before the M8 is amazing and the signal work is amazing. But I doubt i'll be buying more routes made by DTG post Brandon's departure (departure haha)

Money's tight and inflation is a thing. guess it doesn't bother the folks from Chatham that everything is harder now and they are pricing people out with the insane prices. Now yes i am being a bit sour, but again 50% of this new route is recycled albeit updated. DTG had more than 50% of this route done already, so increasing the price it not a factor here. Nothing new in terms of route building was added except for updating textures and track side stuff. The only new stuff is around 15 miles long. $45 for 15 new miles of track yeah that's a scam. If this route did not previously exist 3 TIMES in parts mind you, then I would not have an issue. Get the trend now??? You can say the traffic is good and it is, but most of the money that you pay goes towards route building as that takes time. But again most of this route is reused. It really conflicted me when buying this route, most of it is reused so your only paying for the M8 and Pelham-Stamford section. Which on it's own is around $10-18 value MAX. DTG loves to price out of proportion and have been for years, no surprises there.... That's why extending to New Haven AND adding the M2/4/6 cars would have justified the price here. As it stands it's only worth it if you don't own Harlem Line, NEC-Trenton, Orignal New Rochelle from 2018 and Morristown line. But that's counter intuitive... that's how DTG uses reverse psych to get you to buy this... if it's in parts, they build less and charge more for more parts of the same stuff. It's not hard math to see how much they rip people off and overprice here.

The fact that JustTrains made such a long route and kept the price as the standard price range (Although DTG being the publisher has the rights to that) it makes the excuse of not going up to New Haven a sad one. Also 78 miles is the full route from Woodlawn. So you'd have around 45-40 miles to go from Stamford to New Haven

Shap isn't that busy. The issue isn't the mileage, but how much AI is on that mileage since the computer has to track every AI train's condition. The track and assets themselves aren't fully "rendered" until you "see" them. So the more AI trains, the worse it is. Frankfurt is a good example. It's MUCH smaller than Shap but has a lot of traffic so has a performance hit. Meanwhile yes Kassel is long, but there's almost no traffic. New York is massively busy with traffic. The whole corridor up to Providence/Boston is busy too. It's no comparison with Shap in traffic.

Also station count is not mentioned here. I think New haven line has about double the amount of stations and mostly urban. You can't compare the two

Full transparency, the section between Harold Interlocking and New Rochelle was made again from scratch. Only the hell gate bridge asset was reused in this section. The original section in TSW2020 was too old and unsalvageable. The team also made a conscious decision to update the existing Harlem line stretch, instead of simply copy and pasting.

Was any thought given to just finishing up the remaining northern part of the Harlem line too? Or was that not feasible or desirable?

Simply wasn’t in scope for this route given the amount of stations and art work needed elsewhere. I would have loved it personally (Harlem is my home route!)

90 miles of bridges and tunnels, or open countryside, is not remotely like 90 miles of the most densely-urbanized section of North America. Nor can it be, without absurdity, compared to doubling Mildmay from 6 miles to a whopping 12. The proper comparison might be building 90 miles of Mildmay.

Valid suggestions however there are budgets per route i suspect. If it doesnt fit budget then it becomes a "why didnt they go to".... post

Nice route but the power lever on the M8 is way to slow! You get a panalty due the the lever. In the middle there are 2 steps and when you try to get them in max brake you're to late. MAX1319 is there a fix planned for this issue? On the LIRR route is this not a problem for me.

So we initially flag this and at currently it matches the M7 and M9. There’re other factors in play that is making more of an issue here. IMO ,those issues need to be fixed first before this can be looked at. Nevertheless, I have sent this internally to beta to get their feedback on it. Will keep you posted

so YOU report stuff back to DTG and THEY pass it to beta testers not you makes sense. You seem to try and make out you are more into the development of this route than you actually are when all you have done is test it. I admire your passion but stop trying to be more involved than you actually are all you have done is the same as us that have bought this and beta test it.

this is why DTG is no longer. If you would like to know, I help DTG with all the bugs reported I have access to internal bug reporting system. But you are correct, I'm now official off duty. Good luck

WOW really so because someone else realises you are a BETA tester and NOT STAFF you reply "Good job now you are own your own" DTG really need to remove you as a beta tester you have portrayed you are DTG staff/Developer and when you have been called out for it and someone else comments you have fooled them and you say that you need to be removed as a tester. Screenshotting your comment incase you delete it

Ok so are you officially DTG staff or a developer yes or no. Or are you just a beta tester. Simple question. ANY beta tester has access to the bug reporting system its what beta tester are for you a no different to any other tester despite trying to pretend you are.

"off duty" yet again leading people to believe you are something you are not. All you are is a BETA tester the same as any other beta tester DTG have you are NOT staff nor a developer, I even had a fellow forum member message me who asked if you were staff or not as you lead them to believe you were.

What im on my own now because you acting like you where a staff member. I reported bugs to you thinking that you was a staff member logging them. But you just beta tester like everyone else who plays this game except you see a few extra files and maybe log something.

DTG should be doing damage control for this, not Eddie nor Brian. I understand they were just trying to help, but it seems to have done more harm than good.

Both are beta testers, not staff members or developers. In case that is unclear.
