Why doesn't the Mk1s for peak forest and spirit of Steam have the british railway logo on the middle of coaches is It licensing and if so how can dovetail not have the british railway logo
Biggest Mk1 rant for me is we dont have a 'decent' blue grey one. Thats meaning TSO and SK/FO and FK variants....
Absolutely. There's no way I'm touching that existing pack... "Help me, Just Trains Kenobi. You're my only hope."
This. And while we got the beloved RMB from JT, it’s not part of the DTG standard pack or fitted with the original B1 90 MPH bogies, nor do we have any other variety of catering vehicle or Mark One sleeping cars.
We only actually got half of that Vern. Due to the file names between this and the other coaches in the CL86 pack all being messed up, we cannot create liveries for the RMB using Livery Designer. (Well you can create the livery but you cannot actually select it in-game). JT aware but are doing sweet fanny adams about it.
Probably a situation like ATS MAC update where it’s been ready for awhile but DTG qa team is being slow with it (hence the lack of a 90 layer)
Unfortunatley I think thats the best we will get, very much in the 'that will have to do' now someone has done it regardless of how poor it is. In TSC there are so many Mk1s from different devs I couldnt start to list them all. Meanwhile in TSW......
Or everything has been patched and is sitting in the DTG “we may or may not release this one day” folder.
Oh quite happy to believe that but now we are often looking at months, or even years, for things to be (not) fixed. That is quite bad and such a waste. In the case of the buffet car we waited so long to actually get one that you'd have thought there would be that little bit of a push to fix it once it became obvious that someone had dropped a clanger. Surprised by the radio silence from JT too. It really is very, very poor
I considered getting the Athena pack just for the Mk1s, but I’m getting the impression they’re even poorer than the 47?.
I know there was an issue with the door drop lights leaving the metal bar at the top, not sure if that ever got fixed. My inclination is only in a very deep sale, 70 or 80% off and then only if other devs or DTG started using them for railtours etc on other routes.
Go and switch on the lower left marker in that class 40, and watch your machine room windows glow brighter than the sun. That's another 7 year-old bug that DTG will never fix, because the original builder of that class 40 model laughed in Matt's face and walked away when he was asked to fix it. Oh, and Athena Simulation is in charge of the class 45 now. So good luck with that loco too.
The 40/45 could really do with a JT style upgrade. What a bizarre decision to leave them in the hands of Athena
Do you remember the ECML rail tour pack last year, with the green class 47? During the DTG live stream, Jane from Athena started talking to Matt about "other projects" and how they have "adopted" the class 40 and 45 locos from NTP. I think it's because DTG lost interest in BR Blue routes, and were just happy to offload NTP on any third-party developers they could at the time.
Well DTG must still have the source files so it ought to be a fairly simple process to take the locos at least back in house, particularly if Athena are no more. Probably slightly more complex for the Mark Ones but then again they are a reskin of the DTG originals so some sort of joint IP there, but whether any reversion clause was inserted in the contract to cover the eventuality of Athena going pop, we will never know. Easier at this stage for DTG to do their own B/G version.
Oh I'd never realised that this error was linked to the left marker light. So that makes it similar to the error on the CL101 DMU then? (but the CL101 'outcome' is more colourful).
Yep, you also get red glowing engine room windows when you switch on the tail lights, but to a lesser extent that you only really see it at night.
I haven't bought this pack, yet. I always liked the GWR150 liveried class 47's and some blue and grey mark 1's are definitely something which would add some realism and variety the BR routes. It's a shame that what looked like a promising new 3rd party has seemingly disappeared leaving their one DLC feeling unfinished. A rake of mark 1's with JTs new class 20's would look great on the Blackpool route.
It’s a shame DTG fudged the Diesel Legends pack. If that had gone well, perhaps we’d have a Deltic on ECML by now. BR Blue is still clearly popular from what JT are doing.
No they need to come off the fence and either say (1) We know that there is a problem but we're not going to fix it or, (2) We have fixed the problem and submitted the fix to DTG on 'this' date. To do neither, which is what they have done so far, makes them as bad as DTG in their apparent contempt for their customers. Both parties have had enough time to fix this error.........and as others have mentioned the other errors in this pack. Remember there was a time when things like this would've been corrected within the week.
Don't buy it. When you switch on the class 47 marker lights, the bolts on the cab roof glow-up just like the engine room windows on the class 40. Athena really did bugger-up that class 47.
I'm not sure that they were "promising". After all a very large number of people predicted what was likely to happen well before the pack was launched and, judging by how quickly the company vanished, they seem to have been proved right. Perhaps DTG need to beef up their 'Due Diligence' department.
I am working on a BR Blue TT and would love a new set of Mk1s to replace the Athena coaches. At least for the 45 we have the NTP version which has none of the audio bugs present in the Athena 45.
I certainly wouldn’t buy it for the class 47. I’m only pleased they didn’t try and release a loco we don’t have, just to go and butcher it. Il pick up the Mk1s once there is 70-80% off again. I begrudge even paying that tbh.
I have been thinking about making a BR blue timetable and would fancy the mark 1's for that, if I am ever brave enough to chance the editor.
Depending on the route I'd suggest maybe doing a practice timetable to start with. My BR TT is on the Riviera Line and it gets quite complex at the Plymouth end as you have the loco changes and the dropping off/picking up of coaches occurring. I started off with a 2018 RVL timetable as that was much simpler and helped me grasp the fundamentals of the editor. Give the editor a go it's quite easy to navigate and really fun.
Thanks for that. I was thinking of doing a simple one to practice. Maybe just a DMU on a branch line. I'll have a look at the editor over Easter.
The Athena 47 is God awful. But the MK1s are ok. I bought it only for them but they don't layer into anything so they need to be spawned in.
if anything, i want to rant about how when we have so many variants of MK1s. We dont even have that many to begin with excluding the BG... where is FO??? or BFO. Like seriously what the hell.
