Get ready for more German traction arriving to Train Sim World 6 from the Dovetail Games team with the DB BR 147 locomotive, with a modern timetable twist for Frankenbahn: Stuttgart-Heilbronn.

    DB BR 147
    [IMG]

Following in the footsteps of earlier locomotive series such as the BR 145 and 146, the BR 147 represents the most recent iteration of TRAXX locos which have been in service across Europe since the late 1990s. Featuring a revised cab design to their elder counterparts, and a more rugged-looking body, the BR 147 offers the latest innovations, with modernised controls, functionality and traction packages, all while offering the same tried and tested versatility. The DB BR 147s are locomotives built for passenger use, capable of 160 km/h and useful on DB Regio services in big cities, replacing older traction on busy lines.

The DB BR 147s offers you the chance to time travel and experience Frankenbahn: Stuttgart - Heilbronn with an all-new 2018-era timetable, in which the BR 147 is utilised on various regional services. Much like the DB BR 111 in the 2000s timetable, the 147 operates in push-pull configuration with either n-Wagens or Dostos, pulling trains to Stuttgart and pushing them to Heilbronn... but not always! Look out for some unique formations in the mix.

Go up against the odds and take on unique operations with a trio of scenarios too; weather woes and convoluted convoys await!

In Train Sim World, the BR 147 has been recreated with accuracy, with a completed reference trip to capture the main sounds of the loco, such as traction motors, horns, brakes, bogies, HVAC and pantograph, taken straight from the 147 itself to make it sound as realistic as possible. Attention has also been put onto the in-cab screens which, being a modern loco, display a lot of information and hide controls which would otherwise be buttons, switches and dials in older models.

The modern controls offer a completely different way to experience the route, although the Wittenberger cab car still provides a nice contrast.

Specific features of the DB BR 147 in-game include:
    • A brand new model, unrelated to the BR 187 already in-game
    • Train Faults including Pantograph Failure, Wiper Blade stuck and Door Faults on the passenger coaches
    • Audible Passenger Announcements
    • In-depth screen navigation, including displaying your stopping pattern
    • Ergonomic controls - e.g. the AFB toggle is on the AFB Lever itself rather than a separate switch

    The Timetable
Let's take a closer look at the new 2018 timetable, and the layers included that you can make the most of!
Starting with the recent release of the Expert DB BR 145, there are some services where this will substitute for the BR 147, reflecting the operational reality of the period where these locomotives often filled gaps as the 147s were being phased into service.

As an important note: the NV variant (with destination display) is not used here, because it did not run on the line during this period, keeping the timetable representative.

Utilising the new Stuttgart S-Bahn DB BR 423, which will be added into the route alongside the DB BR 147's release, a full suite of S4, S5 and S6 services are playable, nearly making up half of the timetable service count by itself! This new BR 423 also replaces the Frankfurt S-Bahn layer on the 2000s timetable, meaning it is no longer a requirement to access that gameplay, and it is included by default.

The BR 110 from Bremen - Oldenburg also adds variety, alongside the 'Karlsruher Kopf' KaKo cab car. These services will be running to and from Bad Wildbad, in shorter, more localised runs that provide a distinct change of pace from the mainline.

For the thrill seekers, the ICE 3M from Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn layers in, and features two full-length runs across the line as well as appears near Stuttgart throughout the day. Similarly, the non-expert DB BR 101 makes an appearance with two full-length runs of its own, providing long-distance expresses, as well as shunting movements into Stuttgart with the BR 363.

Freight action doesn't stop despite the time travel, although it's almost exclusively handled by diesel traction. Shuttle cargo across the route in the BR 363, with the DB BR 294 substituting in if you own it. A most unique set of services await owners of Rhein-Ruhr Osten, where you get to drive a contrasting combo of DB BR 140 and MRCE BR 185 traction, including a service where one drives right into Stuttgart Hbf itself!

Finally, the BR 425 adds some services between Stuttgart and Bietigheim-Bissingen, and an AI-only BR 425 makes an appearance on the infrequent RB11 at Kornwestheim, only at peak-time.

The DB BR 628 from Niddertalbahn also appears as AI at Heilbronn, and there will also be additional AI-only services adding traffic around Stuttgart, including:
    • ICE 1 from Kassel - Würzburg
    • ICE-T from Frankfurt - Fulda
    • TGV from LGV Méditerranée
    • ÖBB 1116 from Semmeringbahn
    • FlixTrain BR 193
    • DB BR 442 from Köln - Aachen Remastered

Train Sim World 6: DB BR 147 is releasing on 31st March 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £14.99/€17.99/$17.99.

I hope, although it may be a bit unrealistic, that the BR 147 can also be used as a substitute for the BR146 or BR 111.

It looks like not very difficult to implement. Maybe not as ai but only playble loco to drive by yourself.

I'm curious about the texture blurring on PS5, because maybe something needs to be adjusted in layer 423, if I remember correctly from previous messages, it should help performance a bit.

Will the new schedule layer work on Ps5? And will the Fis walk on the train because when I launch a service, it is always written "nicht eisteigen"

Can you provide a full list of all (driveable) layers and substitutions before release? They are mentioned in the article, but would be nice to know the required content in full.

The part about seeing your stopping pattern on the screen is interesting, could this be another step toward eBula ?

What is with the Original Timetable, will this also get its own BR 423 or does it still need Frankfurt S-Bahns BR423

Will the 147 correctly sub at least for the player selectable loco into all older routes that have 146 and Dosto services? That would be a big selling point for me, rather than having it restricted to the Stuttgart timetable. For some auto subbing would be out of the time period, but I would definitely like if the player had the option to choose it.

    Stuttgart Improvements
Mentioned in previous roadmap livestreams, and earlier in State of the Game, Frankenbahn: Stuttgart - Heilbronn is being updated to include a DB BR 423, removing the requirement for Frankfurt S-Bahn, and therefore natively including over 400 services in both the original 2000 and the DB BR 147’s 2018 timetables. Not only that, but it has also been amended to reflect Stuttgart S-Bahn condition, making the services more realistic than just using the Frankfurt one.

So there's gonna be a two day release marathon? Monday the Class 90 (albeit that wasn't the originally scheduled release day) and Tuesday the DB BR 147 already.
I mean, I'm kinda glad those two will finally release, but I'm beginning to get overwhelmed by the flood of content these days.

I've gotten myself the BR 145 Expert and Liberec - Stara Paka in the beginning of the month and I haven't found the time to really explore both DLC in depth yet.

Partially to both needing fixes to even play the scenarios and journeys, but mostly due to being glued to YouTube for preview-, release- and review-live streams, add to that the occasional community stream event with your streamer of choice (not complaining about me spending my time socialising for a change on TSP's streams), the time needed to consume actual world and local news to keep up with the moat chaotic time I've yet to be alive in and the need for actual rest, recreational entertainment media consumption, chores around the house and work, I'm not even finding time to actually play the game or have the mental strength at the end of a challenging work day.

I know it's the end of the fiscal year, close to Easter and so on, and I'm able to afford the DLC I want without having to starve by any means and I'm looking forward to fresh and long anticipated content, but I feel overwhelmed by 6 releases in one month in such rapid succession and with, let's face it since we all know it, day one bugs which certainly won't get fixed before Easter.

Please bear in mind I'm not complaining about having to buy everything on day one, FOMO or something alike. I had my eyes set on certain DLC to get on day one. That doesn't mean I'm only interested in those, I'm just less interested by the others at the same moment until I can read the articles, watch the streams, learn about the DLC and gain interest in them, possibly make up my mind to get some of them as well. And I realise I could just watch the streams after they've been broadcasted on YouTube, but that way I can't participate and interact with people on the streams, which is a core feature of DTG social media (and I'm really glad it's that easy to communicate with the Devs and Publisher).

Also the huge backlog of updates and fixes still in QA-limbo don't make me look forward to the Easter holidays anymore in terms of the game.

Instead of rolling out long awaited fixes so we can use the holidays to finally sit down for long leisure days and indulge ourselves in the game we get flooded by new broken content on top, which we still want to explore because we've been awaiting their respective releases with hope and wonder.

On top of that the season for real life train events is starting on the northern hemisphere and weekends are getting claimed by them.

Where are we supposed to find time to follow just DTG social media (not even speaking of social media in general which consumes more and more time in our busy lives these days), stay on top of events, anticipate and discuss upcoming releases, play said releases once they're out, discuss, report issues etc. in our busy lives?

This may be just my experience and my mental state and I really am looking forward to driving the 147, even though it will release with bugs and without extra coaches to fill highly demanded gaps, but seriously, there never has been a march with that many releases before for TSW, there will likely be a big gap in the near future without releases and for QA and Devs to handle a whole bunch of issues for even more DLC all of a sudden.

I have a really really bad feeling about the whole situation.

So please DTG and 3P Devs, please change my mind or at least ease it.

I guess it makes sense they’re churning out all this content in March from a business perspective. But I’m worried the add-ons are not launching in a state that’s as polished as it should be. The fact they had to delay the preview stream for the new UK route by a week because of a completely unrelated issue (EMU braking on NY-Stamford) just shows how super busy everyone is right now.

I’m hoping they take a well-deserved breather in April and then release all the updates/optimizations these add-ons should probably have launched with in the first place. This also includes resolving the issues in the core game and existing add-ons (PIS, blurry textures, PS5 add-on mounting) that have seemingly fallen by the wayside because of the busy DLC release schedule.

I saw a forum comment opining that the developers have become overwhelmed by the various bugs/issues recently, and I think that rings true. Resources were clearly pulled away from bug fixing to get all of these add-ons out in time.

Looks surprisingly good! If the new timetable holds up to the promises, it might be even better than the "old" one (which I already consider to be quite good) :)
Hopefully we will also get the promised bundle of updates and fixes for the route along with this.

But I share the concerns Puddington Bear already mentioned. We are getting a tidal wave of new stuff lately, I can't remember a single month ever being this busy. My hope is that quality control can keep up with this influx of new stuff to manage. DTG's QA track record for 3rd party content hasn't been too great lately as it is, perhaps mostly (?) due to the blurry textures issue. And rushing all those 3rd party DLC out half-tested just to meet some fiscal year deadline probably won't help.

Its funny how in January people were complaining its too quiet. And then making up conspracy theories that TSW is dead. They are too busy on Metro Rivals.

In case you didn't notice but Alex said alot had been pushed back on the roadmap stream because of the PS5 and Blurry texture investigation.

So this was all probably going to be spread out originally.

Some BR147 have recently transferred from the Berlin district (where they move to after originally working out of Stuttgart) to Aachen to work RE services IRL. Would be good if this DLC subs into Köln - Aachen dosto services. Here's one on a RE at Düren in February. 147_Duren.jpg

Let's hope that at least this TSW 6 add-on meets "all" the Standards a user can expect.

Nice but its not reflecting the route time period..... The route it self in its state is way back so 2025/2026 is not really realistic ;)
