Run 8 Studios today has released the Fresno Sub South route, along with Update 24. The long awaited Fresno Sub South fills the UP gap between Goble and Saco.

The route is $40 and is available for purchase at https://www.run8studios.com/fresno_south.shtml

Here’s a look at the Update 24 Changelog

    Update24
    • The Use System Timebutton in the Overhead Options Menu has been fixed & changed:
      • System Time (Local): sets Run8's time to the user's current computer time
      • System Time (Region): sets Run8's time to the current time for the Region being used
        • For example, if it's currently 0800 Pacific Time for the user and he's running the A-Line, Run8's time will change to 1100 (since A-Line is in the Eastern Time Zone)
        • Server AutoStart makes use of this option for "UseSystemTime"
      • Both buttons now automatically set the "Use Daylight Savings Time" option as needed for time of year
    • Selkirk Yard: We're not sure how, but at some point the CTC switch-indicator signals in the Receiving Yard got messed up, so we've un-messed them up
    • UPRR Signals: The following routes have had their signal systems adjusted to better simulate UP signal practices:
      • Fresno-Modesto (UP portion)
      • For a siding thru-move, the best diverging signal you'll ever see is a Red\Fl-Yellow
      • Intermediates preceding any diverging will show Yellow\Yellow indicating a diverge ahead
      • The signal preceding a Yellow\Yellow will show Fl-Yellow (yes, this is correct)
      • A diverging Red\Green is only seen when diverging to multiple-main
      • Using Chowchilla Siding as an example, assuming a thru-move in and out of the siding, the signal progression would be:
        • Grn -> Fl-Yel -> Yel\Yel -> Red\Fl-Yel (entering siding) -> Grn (exiting siding)
      • Using Biola Jct (SB diverging) as an example, assuming the next control point is also cleared, the progression would be:
        • Grn -> Fl-Yel -> Yel/Yel -> Red/Grn (diverging Biola Jct)
        • Note: Intermediate Yel/Grn (Approach Clear 50) is only seen in rare cases of high-speed diverging turnouts\crossovers
    • UP Symbols: Otto is now able to properly recognize GK and GM prefixes for UP train symbols

    • Otto & Crew Changes: Otto now only lines a freight train up to a crew-change, and will not clear that train further until after the crew-change has completed

    • You Squawked, We Listened: The Flashlight has increased in both brightness and range

    • NS AGSgot a bit of love this round:
      • Extended north to CP Cahaba
      • Extended East-End to CP Leeds to add a siding for train staging
      • Added missing xover near the trim-leads at Norris Yard
      • Regraded 3B District
      • Changed a few switches from CTC to Handthrow near the Norris Hump
      • Added Finley Yard, nearby industries, and Acipco Steel
      • And whatever else we didn't list here
    • BNSF Bakersfield Sub: Amtrak is now able to stop on M2 at Corcoran to prevent Otto from getting stuck

    • CSX Waycross:
      • Fixed an issue that caused AI trains to run past a dwarf signal for the Brunswick branch
      • We've included an updated TrainSymbolRoutings.xml; this will not overwrite your existing one, so you can incorporate the changes as you see fit

I'm already behind with the SoCal routes, but in all honesty haven't touched Run 8 for months.

Its actually crazy to see the local UP mainline thru my hometown be featured in a train sim, makes this very temping, but I don't have a permanent PC atm to use Run 8.

$40 for a route is kinda steep ngl, especially when half the time you’re paying for fixes that should’ve been there day one… still, if the signaling actually feels more realistic now and not broken every other run, I might cave later, but no way I’m buying this instantly again lol

The problem is, Run 8 never have a sale so there is no chance of ever picking this up a bit cheaper a few months after release. Even the old freight wagon packs for V2 never get any sort of discount.

I still find myself going back to this sim after a while away, mostly for the physics aspects, still a great sim. I hear rumours that V4 is in the works?
