looks like my ‘joke’ didn’t really come across well which is fair enough. it’s been one of those days where nothings gone right so i apologise to anyone who i confused. putting that to one side, this route looks absolutely fabulous and the attention to detail is so obvious, the optimisation work seems to have made a big difference too. well done to everyone involved, this is already looking like JT and AABS level work
Strood to Tonbridge is 26 miles, plus the 13 miles from Rainham to Gravesend making 39 miles of track in total
Only seen it played on PC, I am PRAYING for a somewhat smooth experience on the Xbox. Every release, console has suffered but given who's developing this route, I have my hopes set high. The route looks absolutely stunning!
I have a niggling feeling this route will be a blurry mess like Birmingham to Crewe is on console. I really hope I'm proven wrong
Well this route is apparently made with the fixes for that issue, so for me it’ll be a test of whether TSW has a future or not, on console.
It really does shine through, it felt like watching that stream Just Trains did with BPO and the NTB stream with TSG. That's what I appreciate so much just seeing how much you guys have put into this! Blown away by the lighting and just the scenery in general on this one. I feel like this route actually shows was TSW is capable of. It's good to hear that all has been smooth on beta testing (Xbox and steam deck etc) so hopefully that translates well to the release and we have some good performance! This feels like it could be quite a keystone moment for TSW especially in terms of the balance between detail and performance!
Only a small problem. Do class700 have improved auto brake system? I mean the system will kick off when the speed is under 2 mph.
Looked great. I was shocked to hear what they said about optimization. I’m glad they’re working on it of course but all they did was reduce textures that didn’t need to be hi res? They are talking about it like it is a revolutionary idea. Who made the uniform for the class 700 driver in 4k in the first place? He said 4k ambient occlusion, 4k color, 4k mask… I’m not a developer and so maybe I just don’t know much but I would have thought putting hi res textures only where they needed to be would have been standard practice at step 1.
Thanks for everything all! Just a reminder that a manual will be accompanying the route release explaining the operation of everything. In terms of layers this is what you should be seeing if you have all the layers installed (the RHTT sits inside the 66 obviously) Also worth mentioning that if you’re on PC any mods that modify the Southeastern Highspeed trains in anyway (that includes the route EPs) are very highly likely incompatible and will break the updates, perhaps even causing them not to show at all. These will need removing until their respective authors update them.
That's not all that's been done no, there's also been LOD, LOD groups, and asset optimisation across the route. Also making best use of formations in the timetable to ensure each train is used as much as possible without over burdening memory. "They are talking about it like it is a revolutionary idea." No, it's not, it's standard practice you are right. But that doesn't mean it's been done for a lot of assets previously. So we've gone through and set things up as they should be.
Hey folks, due to ongoing Microsoft Store discoverability issues, it may not be possible to find the Medway Valley Line Add-on when using the search functions, and instead, we please ask you to follow the direct links included below: Xbox EU Store Xbox US Store All the best, Jan
I do have a big positive review ready... But as theres no feedback thread yet, I thought it would be important to make the developers aware that the Electrostar sounds on PS5 appear to not being working. I have the braking sounds, but the actual Electrostar traction motors accelerating are completely mute on my end. Don't worry, as I say I do have lots of extremely positive stuff to write about later, but this is a bug I've noticed straight away.
Looks like a build issue currently, DTG are investigating it as we speak. Was all fine in PS5 QA testing . Can I confirm all the other audio is present (cab fan, wheels, flange squeal)?
Yeah all the other sounds above seem to be working absolutely fine, including the braking sounds. It appears to be just the traction motors themselves that aren't audible. Honestly, these things happen, so don't worry to much about it. The route and quality are absolutely superb... I'm going to say this now, I think this is the best quality route I've ever experienced in the game and I can already feel it's going to be my new favourite route. For the moment though, I've substituted the Class 465 in and enjoying all of its new features and the scenery!
Wrong build again?!? Probably inevitable with them releasing 42 DLCs in 2 weeks lol. Hope it's a quick fix! This route looks amazing and will be buying on Steam after work. The SEHS patch also seems quite impressive- will that also fix the overall PIS bug that's been happening for the past few weeks?
Yeah i'm on PS5 too and the audio issue is unfortunate but I will say the route is superb, the lighting is so good and so is the scenery. Runs really well too with no blurries!
This is the first route where I get that real rural UK vibe. I'm not from the UK, so my view of the UK is based on things like TV series and pictures, but the part alongside the river really gives me that vibe. Well done!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I guess "hebertar" means this like, why is this not done before by DTG and why has this to be done by a group of modders (now 3rd party developer)? The performance issues are here for a long time and now a 3rd party developer (developing their first route) has to fix those issues and bring them to DTG as a solution. So a lot of credits for Firefly, but it tells also something about DTG and their knowledge.
Looked absolutely incredible on the stream last night. Can’t wait to get home tonight and play. Well done to all those involved.
Brilliant route and no blurry textures on Xbox series X. Well done to all that produced this. I think a standard has been set for all future releases
Same issue here with the traction sounds on both 375s (also on PS5). Other than that, this route is magnificent
Anybody notice how when you get cloud cover it doesn't get extremely bright, overexposed and washed-out? Amazing!
As a rule, I don’t buy routes on release. I don’t have time to play TSW month-to-month (new parent), and there are normally enough show-stopping bugs to warrant waiting for patches. Not to mention the inevitable sale prices - why buy at full pop? But my goodness, I’m happy to give Firefly a full price sale. I’m breaking the rule. I love the Southeastern region and the 375, and this route looks stunning. This is going to be my new go-to route.
Yes I noticed this too. I feel the sky & clouds have had some firefly tweaking going on behind the scenes, it definitely doesn’t look anything like what we’ve seen on previous routes. What’s their secret sauce?
In the announcement thread they did not mention any train faults. Does the new train have this TSW6 key feature?
I was watching one stream and saw what looked like alto-cumulus clouds. They're a classic summer cloud that appears really high in the sky when the conditions for a thunderstorm are coming together. If there have been improvements to the weather I'll be really pleased.
This is 90% guesswork on my part, but I would imagine there isn't any kind of traction interlock that would require GSM-R unless the GSM-R is used for for train control (e.g. ETCS requires this), which to my knowledge isn't the case in the UK (AWS uses magnets, TVM uses a rail circuit).
Yeah the GSM-R isn't required to drive the train. You can ignore it entirely (Outside of the scenarios) if you so desire, you'll still be able to drive.
(not really a bug so putting here rather than the bugs thread) The Crossing Gates over the road next to Cuxton station are somewhat short ?
Is there a rough timeline in which we can expect the audio issues to be fixed on the Electrostar for PS5? I just want to manage my own expectations. As I say, not a biggy as I'm using the 465/9 for now that feels just at home on the route. Will be doing the 700 test runs later too.
Congratulations to the Firefly team - it's great to see something like this come from folks who have long been a part of this forum, and who have done so much in the past through their PC mods. I hope you're really proud of this moment - it's a great achievement.
Firefly, you’re amazing, this has restored my faith in the game, THANK YOU the route is stunning! DTG, please sign these guys up as permanent staff members, they can lead your team and make it soo much better!
