So without any CL or the RHTT pack, the only freight runs are 4 light loco runs (2 between Tonbridge & Hoo, 2 between Tonbridge & Gravesend [guessing 1 of each in both directions]). There was also no static stock (at least at Hoo yard). It seems the in game layer menu isn’t accurate, as both misc freight & static freight show as only being SEHS layers, yet removing both RHTT & CL packs remove any freight runs & also static wagons (again at least at Hoo). I did also remove the WCMLS HKA pack, so not sure if that’s a hidden dependency too.
Thank for checking! I almost never drive freight trains, but like it for AI traffic and static stock, so a minor downside not having freight.
Yeah I’d have not thought it to be an issue aslong as the static wagons are there, but Hoo is a pretty big yard to have empty. The CL packs are definitely worth it though (well maybe all except nuclear), especially for the AI side of things - on this route you even get some rare double headed 66 runs.
Main reasons I never bought those packs are the blurry textures on console and I'm almost never drive freight. I was looking to buy at least one of those packs for GWE remaster, but I have already blurry textures when the WCML layer is enabled. So I hope DTG is gonna fix this very soon on all routes, you guys proved you can make a good performing route without blurry textures.
I just couldn't pass on Liberec- Stara Paka and Stamford, although Stamford has been more hit or miss for me. It's still a well made route, but just not as fun for me. LSP hit the spot. That whole rural, diesel single track vibe. Medway seems kinda rural too, but not as many freight options and I wanna get my money's worth out of Liberec and Stamford first.
Xbox Series X…plays like a dream, (no stutters/blurries !) it’s a work of art as much as a DLC, the level of attention to detail is above & beyond. The river craft even have Navigation Lights !!! Thank you.
We’re a bit baffled as to why, but it would appear that not all the layers are showing up for people even though they have them installed. We believe that somehow a non-UK DLC is causing a conflict, particularly with the Scotsman. I have all my DLC installed and everything shows for me, but I don’t have all the latest German and US content. I believe therefore it must be a route published since TSW6 launched. If you have all the requisite content for the layers installed and they are not showing up for you like this; ...could you please let us know which post TSW6 DLC you have installed? What on earth is causing this we don't know, but we think this is the cause and would like to rectify it as soon as is possible. Thanks
I have this view. 19/19 layers and a service count of 501. I only have the UK post TSW6 stuff installed. PS5.
…thanks Jet Wash, you & your colleagues have taken the game to another level, I have to declare that I have NO interest whatsoever in Southern EMU’s as I grew up in the Steam Age ! but I could (& am !) playing this all day ! Happy to support your work as it should be rewarded. Hell, if you’re next DLC was ‘Thomas & Friends go to Mercury’ I’d buy it !
I would like to congratulate Firefly for providing us with this fantastic course, which has certainly raised the level of detail never before seen in TSW. The attention given to every detail, the bathroom on the Electrostar, the train sounds, the atmosphere—all of this makes you want to wait for the train on some platform just to let time pass and feel immersed in the place. It's a route that deserves all possible credit to its developers. And may this serve as a lesson to the community, to stop unfairly criticizing others unnecessarily, treating them with respect and dignity, because without them we certainly wouldn't have variety and new features in TSW.
It’s strange, but I do want to point out that I’ve only seen this happen in games that have mods installed, and not in stock game add‑ons. So I would definitely take a good look at which platform this is happening on. Have you actually received reports from console players? If so, and if it concerns PlayStation, could it be related to the limit on the number of DLCs that can be installed and the hard cap they have?

Having played the route extensively on PS5, I'd usually like to give long winded reviews to really get the feeling across... However in this circumstance I don't feel a long winded review is necessary... A shorter one would actually do it more justice so here it goes... If Carlsberg made TSW routes it would be this, the Medway Valley Line. The amount of detail in every part of the game route from the rolling stock to the route and infrastructure itself is beyond phenomenal. It's not often you get 10/10 routes but this is one of them. For me, I think this is not only the best route I've ever experienced in the game, but of all the routes in TSW this is now the favourite. An absolute piece art and perfection, and has shown what is possible with passionate and keen developers. Further more I think we should take time to also recognise the interaction the Devs have been having with us on this thread too, it is really appreciated. The best route that has ever existed in the entirety of the game for me. That is all!
Well it's certainly a superb route and it shows what is possible using all the tools currently available. I too would place MVL in the top tier of TSW routes. But there have been routes in the past that have included, for instance, more numerous and historically more interesting rolling stock; equally immersive scenery and involving gameplay and more mileage. I hope that the elements of MVL that make it so good will inspire other developers to push the envelope in future. But at the same time, unlike some other posters, I do not disparage the efforts of other devs, including DTG and others, who have also produced some excellent routes. The very first route, Sand Patch Grade, was remarkable and groundbreaking in its own right. But then it was given a lengthy dev time, which will always result in better results.
I've been playing this route non-stop since it came out on PS5. it's just so good and VERY well optimised. I cannot wait to see what Firefly make next because I think they have even outdone Just Trains in terms of quality. This is my favourite UK route since Blackpool Branches. It's a very rare 10/10 from me and hopefully the traction motor issue is resolved quickly.
I’ve been around since the beginning playing TSW and I’m pretty confident this is the best route we’ve had so far. I’m not a mileage guy have no interest all the time/inclination to play routes that are significantly over an hour in length for each run, so for me this is a perfect balance of immersion and shorter root length with excellent scenery and the icing on the cake of course is the performance which is buttery smooth on the PS5 for me.
