The P42DC is Amtrak’s classic workhorse. It’s got that clean silver-and-blue look with the sloped nose that just says “on time.” Not the biggest or loudest engine out there, but it’s smooth, reliable, and pulls Amfleet cars or Viewliners across the country without any drama. The horn has a nice, deep tone, and when it’s cruising at speed, it feels steady and right. If you’ve ever ridden the Silver Meteor or Northeast Regional, there’s a good chance one of these was up front doing all the work. It’s not flashy, but it’s the one that gets the job done every single day. bca0db344e1c96841fefff49a26fcc41.jpg

Still need a route for these. Preferably the Chicago, Seattle, or Portland areas or the Pacific Surfliner. I'd love to get Superliners for Cajon Pass (SW Chief) and other routes that use them.

Yes, it would be good on Cajon Pass, Chicago, Seattle, and Horseshoe Curve because the Pennsylvanian Amtrak goes to Johnstown and Altoona.
