If you have the route what don't you like about it including the Railtour pack should I get it or not because I'm thinking tell me also what you like (I don't care about scenery btw)
From my own experience, the Class 150 that comes with West Cornwall is absolute pants to drive weak physics and horribly mixed sounds The 37 with its wagons is just 'ok' and that's probably being nice about that too (I haven't bothered with the railtour pack) I'd only get it for extra layers for Blackpool Branches or West Coast Preston to Carlisle, otherwise you aren't missing out on much Won't discourage you from getting it, that's just my own personal experience!
The railtour pack is one of the worst DLCs ever released, absolutely pointless. It might even be worse than the GWE Diesel legends pack, but it's a coin toss.
The scenery is probably the worst offender, but the 150 isn’t far behind it. If you don’t care about the former though, owning Blackpool Branches will let you use the 142 pacer in place of the 150, so it does make it markedly more fun to play. The 37 it comes with and the engineering wagons are decent & something different for ‘freight’ style gameplay, they also are dependancies for a few route layers, so some value there. Agreed on the railtour pack though, utterly pointless.
It's a shame because that railtour pack could have been good, had any effort or research been put into it, but yeah, one of TSW's worst DLCs for sure (and there's competition in that claim too, looking at the Athena 47 specifically)
The scenery looks nothing like Cornwall, just trees and weird stumps at intervals along the track. Among the worst if not the worst route Rivet built. They couldn’t even fix an incorrect speed limit coming back from St Ives. Save your money and put it towards something better.
That the route doesn't go to Plymouth, hell I'd even accept it ending at Truro, having it end at St Austell is such a random place. That the destination boards for the 150/2 only feature stations on the route, nowhere off map. That it's not been updated to include newer updated DLCs likes the JT 47 or carriages. That it's very rare to have the 101 and 142 actually swap in for the 150/2. That the Falmouth branch was left out. We have such short waiting times at stations which mean we always run late as passengers are still boarding a long time after the lock door prompt appears.
If only Rivet had the ability to go back and correct their past mistakes… The community wouldn’t be so harsh on them. Milk the cow dry and run for the hills is their attitude.
When it was in dev, they mentioned it wasn’t planned to go to St Austell, rather it would end at Truro. They just had spare time left over & decided to extend it. Of course that spare time as it turns out seemed to be made by someone forgetting to actually make Cornwall.
Vast swathes of the scenery look like placeholder scenery and the 150 was pretty universally panned, but when using the Pacer (which layers in from Blackpool), it’s quite an engaging drive. And for all the poor scenery, the run in to Penzance from St Erth looks alright. Absolutely would not pay anywhere near full price and honestly probably my most disappointing route in the game, but it still has its moments.
It's a real shame as it's the only UK route set in the 90s and doesn't really do the Cornish Mainline justice. Not including the branch to Falmouth at least was also another missed opportunity. I do think though a route East of Turo would do well as there's more freight since both Falmouth and St Ives have become long sidings.
