Finally but i am totally un-impressed with its Performance if would like to know why i will tell. you 1/ failed to work the safety systems switched on eg AWS DDS & TPS the . Train ( BR Class-90) would not re-boot after a AWS was re-set even when the Emergence brake was removed there was no power the brake pipe failed to reach bar 0 let alone Bar 5 which is need for a full brake release 2/ Action points where reduced with or with out the safety systems being switched on or off 3/ the Loco ( Br-Class 90 often slipped back slowly towards a Red Signal 4/ Also witnessed at Milton Keynes that there was noticeable Camera swaying up & down So DTG please could you with ATS investigate the issues i have raised & possible correct them Thank-you
I’ve just downloaded and am disappointed to see the scathing reviews. It sounds as though it’s all been a bit rushed and I had such high hopes for this. I ought to stop being so naive when it comes to DLC as each release, bar a miracle, is just a disappointing mess. Sadly, this will not change unless there’s change in DTG. I do wonder what all these Beta testers flag as issues as seemingly lots of issues appear to be ignored time and time again. I have to say, hate the wheel blur, the sounds are really poor, the looping is obvious. The textures inside and out aren’t that great either. I think this has to be my least favourite loco DLC. In the Christmas delivery scenario, the rear unit tail lights are on even though they’re not on in any cab. It’s absolutely shockingly poor!
This needed a few months more of development. I know they're on good terms with AP so why they've not got some help with sounds and set up I don't know. Years ago this would have been ripped to shreds on his own twitch stream.
Whilst I do wonder how many of these issues are DTG related rather than ATS, how was this tested on console and the AWS cancellation issue not picked up? I just find it bewildering.
I watched Alans YouTube video and he apologised and articulately explained the reasons behind the launches issues. You can't really ask for more from a developer if I'm honest, some don't even bother acknowledging or apologising at all, so you have to respect the fact the blokes come out and been entirely frank and honest and reassured players with commitments. Interestingly he also said this will be part of the ATS 'ecosystem' for TSW, that gives me hope the Class 90 is just something small in the long term plan and will be part of future routes/timetables. So watch this space! But I think what come across very well was his ability to take onboard all the negativity and criticism constructively. So fair play to him. I will say, the first one or two blips I sort of understood with DTG (I've even come out in defence of them, but equally I won't shy away from criticism where I see it is necessary), but it does seem they have rushed a lot out of the door in a short period of time and consequently this has led to more then a few issues and wrong builds being put out, so I do think they need to publicly acknowledge now their mistakes and take it on the chin. Maybe, for next year spread releases out across February and March rather all in one go. These things do happen from time to time and I acknowledge that, and I do sympathise to some extent, but equally you've got to realise when you spread yourself quite thin and leading to products being delayed, streams being cancelled or wrong builds being released at the rate they have. But most importantly, it's how the product reaches the customer, overall I know all the stuff released this month is going to be solid in the long term, but to cause this many blips for customers in a short space of time (and developers alike for that matter) is a bit poor at this stage. So some acknowledgement and taking it on the chin wouldn't go amiss amongst the forum community.
I decided to take the plunge and buy it to give ATS the benefit of the doubt after watching the preview streams and replies on here however I have since refunded it. Firstly, the whole "wrong build" thing. Normally DTG are pretty quick to admit when a wrong build has been pushed however nothing from DTG on the matter at all suggests differently. DTG are not shy to announce a delay to a product either if it isn't ready so what has happened here? Because from what I played, this pack really was not ready for release. Ignore the things I mentioned previously regarding textures, sounds and timetable, theres some really huge flaws in this pack. Requiring to setup the loco in a specific way to get it to work?? I have never had that issue before so why is it an issue here? Old TSW wheel blur? Come on... fundamental basics have been missed here. Then theres things I have talked about before, so sounds, well its like sounds are just completely missing or are really quiet as some other people have posted, how was that missed? Sounds having obvious looping/being too loud, you would think that would of been an easy spot. Then theres the textures, I mean one thing I noticed was in the rain, the cab textures turned wet? that seems a bit odd? The rest okay sure, a high res patch but honestly right now, clearly theres more pressing matters to action. Gameplay, all I can say is I hope that once the issues are sorted it gets added to more routes but in its current state I wouldnt want it on anything. It is such a shame that we finally got a new UK loco and its ended up in such a sorry state. I watched the video they just posted but it just looks like pointing the blame towards DTG a bit which as I said above, normally DTG would come forward and say if they messed up so why not this time? I feel like theres more to the story than what is being let on. Anyways, clearly this pack has been rushed for some reason or ATS bit off more than they can chew. I think they need to go back to the drawing board on this pack and almost start again (not modelling as the model is really nice, hell not even the texturing) but the rest of it absolutely. The pack shouldn't of been released and promising to patch things well, as potential paying customers, we shouldnt have to wait for a patch but for now like I said, I have refunded it, I really hope they sort it out and sort it soon. Once issues are confirmed to be fixed I will happily buy the pack again as it has a lot of potential. Such a shame...
I don’t even understand why they were in such a rush to get this out unfinished. Perhaps they were put under pressure by DTG, I don’t know. There are no winners if refunds are being issued.
Im not Alan's biggest fan, but fair play to the guy. That explanation video felt honest and from the heart, whilst ATS will no doubt learn lessons from this, I am yet to be convinced that DTG will learn the same lessons as lets be honest this isnt the first (or indeed the 10th) wobbly release with wrong builds. Maybe they'll one day prove me wrong and I hope they do (and the 147 being pulled from release does give a glimmer of hope).
Please curse my lack of train knowledge on this but the Class 90 does seem to go 0-60mph very very fast when it is not carrying a load.
Not being able to test this on console and expecting people to purchase this on console is utterly ridiculous.
Are gamers still using consoles? I thought us PC users are the cool crowd? Anyway, good response from Alan. It's a thankless task pleasing the Rail Sim community.
I think the 90 is a very rapid loco when it has no load attached. I remember watching a FL SPAD incident involving a single 90 and the high acceleration was noted so I'm going off that.
This. Move the 86 or 87 light loco and just hold the throttle in run up, it will accelerate fast enough that the taps won't ever go into the red, they are some of the fastest accelerating light locos ever created. Now consider that the 90 is basically an 87 with updated traction motors and an automatic throttle, therefor having even faster power delivery.
Just watched the video and must say i loved the honesty about what went wrong and what the plan to fix it is. I think engaging with the community is the right thing to do so hats off to ats.
I'll take your 86,87 and 90 and raise you a Class 92.... Fastest accelerating loco I've ever experienced.
I don't doubt it, that thing is a power monster. There's good reason that the 90s work freight in pairs while the 92s work on their own.
I'd love the Class 92 in TSW, maybe will time will tell if the 99 is as fast off the blocks. It's looks like a monster, if anyone out there is driving one and fancies some company for the drive. Let me know.
There's currently only 4 drivers driving the Class 99s on the network. The Class 92 was designed as a freight loco and sleeper passenger locomotive, so the Co-Co configuration helps with getting the power down. Bo-bo's historically have trouble with power delivery through just 4 axles, so ended up getting moved to passenger work.
This would be a highly controversial pack as there's 2 trains a day in each direction on the WCML, so you'd have people moaning that it wasn't enough to warrant a pack. But I've been recording sounds of Class 92s recently... And they've gone to a developer.
4 services a day x2 or 3 (WCMLS + Birmingham to Crewe and/or Trent Valley) plus the ECS moves ! Then you could have the M5s on the Scottish routes with 66+47 as traction !
