He never answered your question did he ;)

I’ve never seen any evidence of this personally.
If a comment that includes criticism has a bunch of slurs and bad language, that’s probably the only time.

Yeah I’ve seen that issue pop up quite regularly. I don’t have this problem personally, only what I mentioned.

Not related to the topic, but MAC is really annoying me right now. Those phantom red signals keep tripping me up on the way to the airport. It’s making me question every red signal I see, I just assume they’re all fake... until I SPAD ;)
I haven’t tried to start a voyager service either… no idea if that’s been fixed yet.

Principles still apply though, lot of TSW's issues aren't "$100 million dollar fixes", Run 8 has much more advanced simulation despite its small customer base for example.

They allow it to be spoken, but they don't really take much action on it. There's a lot of companies who don't have direct lines of communication, but show they are in touch by addressing criticisms in the sequel. No Man's Sky famously took a "Don't say anything, because anything we say isn't going to help" and relied solely on the patches they did to speak for themselves. And in the process became one of the only games to actually completely 180 a poor initial reception.

A more minor but recent example. Nintendo never really talked about any of the issues DKC Returns HD had. Mainly the weird graphical glitches and multiplayer being borderline unplayable in a few stages due to inheriting issues from the 3DS, it just existed in that state for ages. Then suddenly on its year anniversary a free Switch 2 update comes out and fixes all the issues people had with that port, and even a added new mode and character, turning it into unarguably the best version of that game.

I respect that a lot more than the reverse that DTG typical does of paying lip service to it, but then a huge chunk of the time never following though on it. (Still wonder to what extend the horn patch for Clinchfield was done, as one example)

even with this problem in mind, do you think its a good idea to buy it? i am a brighton local and regularly go on 377/3s... i really want more 377 variants which the game desperately needs.

There's already 3 377 variants, plus a ton more electrostars. If anything, the game needs to move away from the electrostar family for a while

I haven’t actually bought it, based on Rivet’s previous history and evidence from clips on YT etc. For me personally only one for a deep sale, particularly as while ECW is okay it’s never been a particular favourite for me compared to BML or SEHS and now about to get seriously outclassed (we hope) by Medway Valley.

ah i see... i will wait out for a sale then.
kinda agree? although tbh we are still getting more 350 varaints throughout 4 routes which is insanity.

No, I wouldn't get it. The 377/3 isn't very good, and neither is the 171.

Personally, I wouldn’t be buying any additional content for TSW unless it’s proven to work properly out of the box because as we know now, there will be no updates. This means that you lot are the guinea pigs!! I was intrigued about Medway and Trent Valley but I absolutely will not be buying either of them unless they’re proven by you lot to be worth it on release.

That’s not fair. I was hoping you’d buy it first and give me your review… ;)

Only joking, I’m buying it day one, broken or not. A lot of effort has gone into this route and I’m confident in the dev team have taken measures to ensure a smooth experience for everyone, on all platforms.

Unfortunately it’s not the dev team that are the potential problem. It’s more the testing team and DTG.

You could say that for most TSW trains.
The 171 isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

Besides the original timetables don't do the remaster justice.

I mainly use the 313, 171 and WCML 377. IIRC they are going to put the BML sounds on the ECW 377's.

I think the 171 sounds good, not perfect but I find it immersive.

Things are often not as bad as some make out.

The sounds on the Class 171 are so far off of the real thing that it's pretty much undriveable. The Thomson 170 from Edinburgh to Glasgow made more of an attempt to sound like a real Turbostar.

The sounds aren't the best, but it does sound like somewhat it's supposed to.

Even if they fixed them, they'd probably make them even worse.

I want to hear the announcements in the cab :( but I suppose the muffled distant is more realistic for the driver

I’ve said this in a previous post, but it would be better for the announcements to have a set volume level for all routes. Let the player decide how loud or quiet he wants in-cab announcements with the slider tuner in the menu. I personally prefer them louder. MVL announcements bug me as they sound to distant. It would be great if they had a slight volume increase, but Firefly probably preferred realism over quality of life which is fine and something I’ll learn to live with.

I know the medway valley line recently came out for TSW. I have seen some good stuff on there already much like working GSMR and improvements done to the 375s. Covering the full Medway valley route + Hoo Junction which is good to see.

I dont blame the developers here because the route they made did cover the entire Medway valley line. But they are not beating TSC in length as they included an entire London Victoria to as far as Rainham lmao.
But its so rare to see end to end route much like the Medway Valley line nowadays in TSW...

Yeah that is one of TSC strengths (longer routes) and why I continue to play it still.

When it comes to route merging for TSW, there is a possibility that some of SEHS & MVL can be merged on PC. Not officially, but there was a user who merged two German routes a while ago.

I’m not a fan of TSC passenger because I find the timings very tight but I really enjoy the US freight where you’re not racing against the clock. I like relaxing drive most of all.

Yeah I agree. I think the main issue is how much more taxing TSW is on hardware compared to TSC (I.e. having to have fully modelled trains loaded in TSW compared to TSC which doesn't need a detailed interior).

Although to be honest I think Medway works well on it's own, IIRC little to no services originate from CHX/VIC/CST and go down the MVL (none in the 2018 WTT anyways), and only a few from STP.

Train Simulator is no more or less taxing than Train Sim World overall. From my experience TS is harder to run in certain cases, but throwing a higher clock speed at it massively helps it. However, TSW's appalling anti-aliasing means you need to run the game at 200% screen percentage for it to look anything close to being nice to look at. This obviously has a big impact on framerate.

I have to say that your reasoning for TSW running worse than TS is pretty much irrelevant. Culling and LOD models bring the two closer together than you think.
