Honestly I was half expecting this to be £14.99 with "but it goes on two routes" as justification

This really should have given out as a freebie to current players. Would have been a nice gesture!

Even if it was free, I'm not interested.

Most of the time I am not too fussed about liveries, but this one is horrific.

If this reskin had been priced at £12.99 or £14.99, it would have handed ATS a "Get out of jail free" card for their Class 90.

"The class 90 might not be perfect, but we gave you a brand new loco for £12.99. All DTG gave you is a reskin."

DTG never want to be seen as the villain, so they took the £4.99 safe bet.... It's all a psychological thing.

    It's total waffle.

At this current stage, we are at a boiling point with DTG, I think the community are just about fed up.

This new GBR 802 feels like pouring salt into a large cut. Does nothing.

What is it DTG? are you going to keep pouring out this slop until TSW7 arrives?

Are you going to restart the cycle, with more bugs piling into the table springing from broken core features?

Make as much PR and marketing nonsense as you like, It's evident, you're lost, You're disorganised.

If you really want to prove someone like me wrong, then do something and get back on you're feet, show the players and the community you're still there, for them.

I hope this isn’t the future livery of all UK trains, just like how Red DB is to Germany.

I’d half expect an American train to showcase their flag in the form of a livery, not the UK.

This along with the quiet side of WOS does make me wonder where DTG are right now?

Third party's are really producing some amazing content at the moment but it's getting stuck in such long QA backlogs. I don't this that the wealth of content just before April and the new tax year is a coincidence either.

I don’t disagree about the livery either but its a gesture. Charging for a livery albeit with “some” services added in is horrific.

Frankly, I'm relieved it's paid DLC. You'd have to pay me to take it to be perfectly honest, so I'll stick with the ones we have for as long as I can, thank you very much.

As ridiculous as this DLC is, there isn't a single case in the TSW Catalogue where they've charged that much for a DLC of this nature.
The Gameplay packs we've got for the core routes since TSW2, the MBTA HSP46 for NEC Boston and the Centro-liveried 323 are all £4.99 (or less, for the older ones)

The only comparable DLCs which are higher are:
RhB Anniversary Pack (£9.99, 3rd Party),
    Engineering Express (£9.99, 3rd Party),
    Expert 101 for KWG (£7.99, 3rd Party),
West Cornwall Steam (£9.99, 3rd Party),
NS Heritage Pack (£9.99, 3rd Party), and
    UP Heritage Pack (£9.99, DTG).
(3/6 of those are Rivet. Go Figure.)

Anyway, Let's not go full Abe Simpson here, shall we?
    images (2).jpeg
They haven't charged £14 so why make things up to be mad about?

Why couldn't he GBR livery just be a modernized version of the old BR liveries, would look 100000x better than what they actually made.

Because it's 100000x easier to slap a flag on something and tell people to be proud of it, than actually make serious efforts to make that thing something to be proud of.

I imagine most of the playerbase would prefer an IC225 set, but if was down to to me the whole SWT network would've been in the game long ago, available to play in all eras from 1948 onwards!

I'd love an IC225 set but i'd still prefer Lord Nelsons, Bulleid pacifics, 4-REPs, 33s, 73s, 442s, 455s, 444s and 450s! (Currently none of which are in game for some stupid reason)

(Although come to think of it, I'd like to think most players would even prefer THAT to the 802 reskin!)

Even Amtraks Siemens Chargers aren’t as obnoxious, like sure red white and blue with a small flag under the cab window, honestly though I really like how Via Rail has integrated the maple leaf from the Canadian flag on their Charger/Venture sets. You can do a flag or elements of it without it encroaching to mindless flag waving, Scotrail is another example of a flag livery done right.

I second that, no way i’d want this livery in my collection. It’s hideous. I like my 802 green cucumber, no act of patriotism is going to sway my opinion.

Poor taste. Using a picture of a train crash where people lost their lives to illustrate a point about a game is in very poor taste I must say.

with regards where DTG are headed, out of business is my suspicion.

Someone can correct me here but when this initially got featured by the government weren't people asking/wanting this to be in game to play and what it could mean in future with DTG and DfT? ....

Yes people where asking for it but I think they where more hoping for a new train with new branding on a new route. Not just some reskin of the most boring train and on the most boring route. Thats just my thought I could be wrong tho.

Pretty much this. They could have included the reskin with a new section of the ECML, perhaps the oft requested Kings Cross to Peterborough section along with a reworked Class 700 (i.e. sort out the sound levels or buy in the freeware mod). That would have sold like hot cakes, even those of us not that enamoured with the modern scene. But it seems that innovation and creative thinking have reached an all time low at DTG where TSW is concerned. Well I suppose there’s an outside chance that what I’ve just suggested could be the big UK route for TSW7, but not holding my breath. The lack of vision means we’ll probably end up with the Stourbridge Town branch…

£ 4,99 would be fitting for something like this. The HSP46 was made free after 'feedback' from the community: but that wasn't even a reskin, only a gameplay pack.

ScotRail's is done quite gracefully. It's a saltire, yes, but it's also it's own design and it's a quite nice-looking (and still modern looking) Livery.

Although that being said practically every agency of the Scottish Government has a saltire somewhere in its logo/branding so I suppose they had to do something.

If only it was possible to translate the colours of the Union Flag onto a livery...

Not at all. But I remain hopeful that this will come given we now have the 90.

(While we're at it, come on DTG, surely the next route with a London terminus will be the section from Peterborough to the cross...)

I imagine that DTG didn't create the livery for the DfT as a favour and they were remunerated for their work. Nice double bubble for them here then.

From what I've read it was designed in-house by the DfT and it was to appease a certain demographic with the current political landscape in the UK.

IMO it's a shame they went down that path, it was a great chance to create an iconic livery like IC and NSE. I hope common sense prevails and they will look at the livery once again, maybe providing different liveries for metro, commuter and Intercity. South West Trains did this brilliantly.

Why are people always so surprised that a FOR PROFIT!! company will squeeze as much money out of its customer base as possible acts the way it does, we all face the same decision every damn DLC, buy or don't buy do we really need another X amount of pages thread stating the same stuff over and over again, if you don't like it don't buy it, it's that simple, if DTG hasn't listened to the hundreds of threads stating this fact by now, do you really think another is going to suddenly change the way they do business.

I'm assuming DTG received some sort of payment/incentive to create this livery for the government, so charging us seems low to me.

    My two cents:

The 8802 GBR works only on very, and I really mean very, modern timetables. So there will be another ECML timetable. No added velue on the standard timetable.

Speaking of ECML, there would have been an abundance of possibilities to make teh rail scene more interesting. Hull Trains, Lumo, all the stuff that is simulated with the GNER train. A pack with those trains/liveries would have been better IMO.

Don't worry, we won't. And the concerns and annoyance come from the decision to yet again duplicate an existing train, rather than something new which has been asked for repeatedly. Low hanging fruit or what...

To look at it another way, it's work that was already done for the launch of the livery. They are spending very little extra time and money to throw together a few railtours and make a gameplay pack.

As seemingly some people can't help themselves and have to buy all the DLC, it's free money for DTG that can be spent on other things.

Seems like a pretty good business decision.

Personally hate the livery and don't want to see it anywhere near my installation. So no money from me.

I hope they didn't. I'd rather thr government spent money on fixing potholes, funding thr NHS, housing homeless people etc rather then funding dtg to make add ons that are merely nothing more than a cash grab

Exactly they've already done the work, if they can make a few pounds from it why not?

Why all the faux outrage, just don't buy it? I likely won't but I am not going to get my underwear in a twist because a private company is trying to make some money.

I am sure most would prefer a 91 but that is something completely different and wouldn't be £4.99.

Same mate, call me biased but i think they peaked with the intercity swallow livery, and LNERs version just added a bit of class :)
