Whenever it appears on the roadmap. When that will be ?? nobody knows. Could be in May’s Roadmap next month or it could be 5 years away. I also would love to see more Dutch content but if I really really had to pick one country it’s got to be France for me. France is VERY overdue. The Dutch route we got was pretty average in my opinion but the loco’s were great and they were very unique. It feels weird but cool driving a train higher up than usual. Hopefully it won’t be too long for the next Dutch DLC.
It’s about time for dozens of countries to make their debut. At least Dutch stuff is already in the game.
zwolle groningen was a good foundation route but frankly i’m bored of it, there’s only so many times you can drive in a straight line with stops every 10 minutes or so. maybe something like dordrecht- den haag would be a good option, a more interesting line with some new rolling stock as well as existing layers being available
I'm also hoping for more Dutch content. As far as I can tell, Zwolle-Groningen was a succes. Seems to be a popular enough DLC. Should be followed up on.
We have to wait, you never know what will happe3n, but it is unlikely DTG starts investing in a new country for just one route.
They did say that Zwolle Groningen was to be their first Dutch route so they could test the water with plenty more to come. Kind of like how Spirit of Steam was to be their first Steam route to test the water with plenty more to come... ___________________________________________________________________ No - turns out I was wrong. They didn't say that. See below.
Well we did get one more steam route, but not one that fixed any of the problems with steam that they said they were going to fix.
That bit they did not say. Any questions about further Dutch routes have always been met with non-committal responses about recognising the enthusiasm and, basically, wait and see.
I'd personally like to see a route featuring Amsterdam Centraal, as that would then also give DTG a reason to develop some single-level TGV trailers to place between the PBKA power cars which we basically already have..... Such trailers could then be recycled for another French route, requiring only development of a TGV Réseau power car. A power car which itself could then serve as a new add-on for an Amsterdam route and also layer in to a remastered Marseille-Avignon.... JB
Really want another Dutch route, but my initial fears about the Groningen route played out, it got boring really quick. Never understood the choice, even for a first route. Any addition would be need to be a route that covers one of the major cities and also locations where the Koploper and SNG are also at home. Ideally, they could add the VIRM, I'd like to see it in TSW.
Well, with Zwolle-Groningen they could make a full route with two logical end points since there aren't that many stations that needed to be modelled. And they could make a full timetable with only 2 train types. So yeah, I understand their route choice. Even though it's a pretty boring route.
I've just checked and you're correct https://www.youtube.com/live/TnS5FoFu-R0?si=8vxJEL7RhqrZEaeO&t=4052 start at 1:07:32
I’d like to see a proper French route away from the high speed. I mean our next door neighbour and no content? Seems a bit weird.
Den Haag - Breda even better, then you also get the Moerdijkbruggen and with extending the HSL to Schiphol or even Amsterdam, it's perfect for speed restrictions and for including the ICNG. The second included train could be the VIRM. This route even can be a start for a connection to and first route in Belgium.
I think we can consign the Netherlands to the same bin as Steam, France, Canada and most possibly Austria. An project cut short before the fruits could be seen most likely due to the bean counters being too impatient and expecting instant high returns with zero understanding that you need a varied ecosystem for a DLC to thrive which just doesn’t happen at the first or even 2 release.
I get the feeling DTG are leaving it up to third parties to develop routes for countries other than the core bunch.
They are not out of service. I was at Amsterdam central station a few days ago and there are a lot of koplopers coming in and going out. Yes they’re slowly disappearing but they will still be in service until 2030
that’d be a silly thing for them to do imo, their first attempt was very solid and there’s no reason for them not to do more
I would've though the same about Austria... however DTG didn't really follow up on their first Austrian route either.
we’ve had semmeringbahn, vorarlberg and rosenheim-salzburg, i know 2 of those are cross-border but it’s still more than the netherlands has got
They seem to be leaving everything to third parties now, including the "core" countries, as currently there's nothing in the roadmap that is in-house
Now that Metro Rivals has been cancelled DTG might go back and focus on making TSW content again. We will see.
It’s often the same at this time of year, anything being developed by DTG while be kept for the next reiteration
