Well, in a sense. New DLC is exciting, but it's been relentless lately, I am so far behind, my wishlist is massive. I'm running out of money and disk space and getting major FOMO. Plus there may be evidence that the pace of release is causing issues. I'm therefore hoping this roadmap will be about: Patches Fixes Improvements Updates on what we already know to be coming More remasters after the very welcome spate of them recently And maybe the odd new thing, because let's be honest, it is exciting. But ideally not so overwhelming
very wishful, basically unrealistic thinking i’m afraid. tsw6 is broken and is unlikely to be fixed with the huge backlog of fixes
Memory optimisation across all older content, thus reducing and eliminating blurred textures (notable though how much newer content recently has been much better overall) and video memory errors on console would be much appreciated!
I agree entirely, it's definitely at the point where fixing what's broken needs to be the priority for a bit, although if a release date from JT for Preston Crewe were to be hinted at I wouldn't mind.
It would be quicker to find things that aren't broken at this point. Then break those too. Needs to be perfect.
I am new to this game in the last month or so and I have played TSW6 181 hours on Steam. So far I have yet to enounter anything gamebreaking or crashes. I do see a lot of complaints about the "backlog of bugs" and how horrible and greedy this devs are and it makes me hesitant to interact with this community or game. I will say this, play MSFS..... and you will come to a whole new appreciation for anything else.
My experience is exactly what you describe. I do come across the odd annoying minor bug, mostly in scenarios, but gameplay bugs, almost none. The problem is these people live in a permanent state of delusion. A world where DTG have infinite time and money and every other game, every other piece of software, has achieved their standard of “perfection”. The people who live in the real world know that’s not achievable even for trillion dollar companies like Apple and MS. I enjoy the game and don’t notice any of the so called bugs these people talk about. Take a look at any updates change log and you’ll see almost all of the bugs are so minor you’d never even notice them. The game isn’t broken, not by any reasonable standard, but these people aren’t reasonable and I honestly don’t know what they get out of a game they clearly hate. I think staying away from the miserable hellhole is a good idea. I just try to get news on the game and updates.
Yes exactly this. I’ve just done a few hours of Riviera using multiple dlc, no issues whatsoever. That was on the back of a tanker run up to Preston, again with no problems. I feel as though people just come onto this forum to transfer their own feelings onto others. There are limited repercussions for these warriors hiding behind their keyboard.
I'm so glad people are finally saying this. i very rarely encounter any bugs, and have not encountered game-breaking bugs since TSW5. It's a really good and enjoyable game and claiming that causes you to receive an endless flow of negative remarks. People need to realise these "serious issues" are really just minor bugs and nothing to excuse abusive or overly negative behavior.
100% this. People on these forums moan far too much. I've played TSW6 for over a year now after coming over from TSC and its a leagues better and less broken. On TSC, crash to desktop was basically a daily occurrence, I think its happened about 4 times on TSW. The textures, the gameplay, the immersion - it's all miles better. I appreciate some things aren't done as well as they could be (Class 171 /377 pack seems naff enough to put me off until a sale), but even this isn't broken such that its unplayable, it just looks a bit rubbish/not up to standard. That doesn't make the game broken/unplayable. TSC in its late years was broken. From load times that sometimes exceeded 10 minutes, file sizes so big you needed to upgrade your hard drive and a "flip a coin" tendency to fall over mid-scenario, it had reached the end of it's life (and, all this on a computer that plays TSW in ultra settings on everything). TSW is nowhere near this level of broken, infact, it mainly works (on PC). Lets keep this appreciation going because, personally, I'm sick of reading unjustified moaning, or people blowing things out of all proportions.
Yes, there are bugs, but the game runs very stable and never crashes, which is is very different from my TSC experience in the past. If a few services out of a large number do not work as intended, this may feel annoying, but it does not make the game worthless. Is at some point the scenery is way off real life, this will be annoying if you have detailed local knowledge, if you don't, you still can enjoy it a lot. Also, keep in mind every month a fair amount of fixes are released and this also is very different from what we are used from TSC, which used to be limited to one patch after release. Also we should not forget lots of old content gets overhauls, e.g. Köln-Aachen, East Coast Way, West Somerset Railway, Great Western Express and so on. So the grumpiness about this game by part of the community is not justified at all. Meeting their requirements might double the already substantial pricing for new DLC, so there is always a balance to maintain between quality and pricing. Some devs are better than other ones, so there still is a lot of choice nowadays where you spend your money. It is quite good there are so many third party developers now, it creates variety in all aspects.
Personally I would like to know/see some more on AABS WCML TVL and the class 70, along with JT Crewe - Preston, rest that are a WIP I dont care for..
Something was obviously very wrong with your TSC install. Was it full of freeware content of suspicious quality? Your comment about hard drive space suggests possibly yes. Note too that being able to create content with large memory useage means you don't have the often rubbish texture quality and many resource saving measures that are built into TSW to stop it from falling over. My install only crashes if you keep reloading a very resource hungry scenario, the kind of scenario TSW can only dream of having when it comes to variety of stock and route length. I can't remember the last time I had a crash midway through a scenario. It also loads quickly. By all means enjoy TSW if that's your thing but TSC is absolutely not as bad as you make it out and in many respects, is far better if you are interested in realistic and varied operations throughout different eras.
TSC probably took up more space simply because of the sheer quantity of acquired routes and locos/rolling stock. TSW file sizes are huge, getting up to around 10Gb or maybe even more for a single route pack DLC. TSC also makes more use of central folders for common objects (e.g. Just Trains) rather than the duplication we get with TSW.
I'm hoping we'll hear a potential date or showcase stream on the Trent valley route hopefully soon, I'm excited to drive the 807!
My day out to Whitehaven today has me kinda stoked for getting JT's next route sooner rather than later. That line is a fantastic ride.
I know there’s not much to report from DTG currently, but it sure feels like a ghost town. I hope we hear some news on the upcoming Tadami line and MK to Crewe routes soon.
Next Tadami update will be the 2027 Season of Reveals, announcing it is pinkie swear coming to TSW8 soon, definitely before TSW9 releases. Probably.
Do you drive with safety systems on, though? If you do then on occasion you might encounter annoying bugs. And leaving out entire mountain ranges on the Austrian routes on Xbox was a bit of an oversight. But they added them at least to one route, as far as I know. That was TSG though, not DTG. Weird passenger behaviour is also a thing. Other than that I agree with you. Negativity on this board is too much. I’ve been playing Starfield lately, whose bugs put things in perspective I guess.
Oof! Where are you playing Starfield? I avoided this day one on the Xbox and decided I’d give it a go on the PS5. I’ve never refunded a game so quick enough.
I haven’t been on the forums in the while. Have I missed something regarding the Tadami line? Is it expected to be delayed or are people just barking up the wrong tree.
It now takes about Seven (7!) minutes to start TSW on my PS5 Pro, I assume it's because DTG are checking that every DLC I have is licensed or genuine and links to their server to check this. And this is on console where piracy isn't even really a thing. Why DTG?
I was being sarcastic tadami line should come by june or july (probably as one of the last releases before TSW7)
It was just the same on my PS4 Pro and PS5. But you might be right, maybe there's an issue with my profile or something. How long does it take other users to start the game on console, would be interested to hear.
Am I being negative if I said I'd at least hoped for some updates to fix blurry textures by now on Xbox? We've had an update for SEHS by firefly which seems to have worked and also added suspension to SEHS (Not being negative to firefly here, Medway valley is brilliant as are the updates to sehs!), where are the updates for everything else? We were told that other fixes might be sparing in the next few months when they started looking at blurry textures yet to date, the only route to be fixed is SEHS. The most recent update we got was to update the Riviera line and GWR route so they could sell their latest HST DLC. Would I be being negative if I said I'd have hoped by now that the running sounds on the Fife circle 170, which worked when I purchased it but we're subsequently broken after an update and to date still haven't been fixed would have? Dovetail and rivet have twice promised to fix these live on preview streams for the latest Rivet DLC but, almost a year later we've had no fixes to put the running sounds back. Would I be being negative if I asked for it to be possible to at least play one service using the class 805 on Birmingham-Crewe without crashing to the home page? Would I be negative in asking for trains and locos which released after Tsw4 actually had features TSW4 was supposed to have like suspension? Would I be negative in asking why dovetail don't consider these worthy of a fix, completely ignore all feedback and only seem to push patches which facilitate the selling of their next broken DLC which will remain unfixed and lacking features it was supposed to have? Am I being negative in saying I wish dovetail would interact with the community more, the vast majority of which have probably paid for their latest broken DLC sold at premium prices and quite rightly expect a fix for it?
