The sounds aren't the best, but it does sound like somewhat it's supposed to.

Even if they fixed them, they'd probably make them even worse.

I want to hear the announcements in the cab :( but I suppose the muffled distant is more realistic for the driver

I’ve said this in a previous post, but it would be better for the announcements to have a set volume level for all routes. Let the player decide how loud or quiet he wants in-cab announcements with the slider tuner in the menu. I personally prefer them louder. MVL announcements bug me as they sound to distant. It would be great if they had a slight volume increase, but Firefly probably preferred realism over quality of life which is fine and something I’ll learn to live with.

I know the medway valley line recently came out for TSW. I have seen some good stuff on there already much like working GSMR and improvements done to the 375s. Covering the full Medway valley route + Hoo Junction which is good to see.

I dont blame the developers here because the route they made did cover the entire Medway valley line. But they are not beating TSC in length as they included an entire London Victoria to as far as Rainham lmao.
But its so rare to see end to end route much like the Medway Valley line nowadays in TSW...

Yeah that is one of TSC strengths (longer routes) and why I continue to play it still.

When it comes to route merging for TSW, there is a possibility that some of SEHS & MVL can be merged on PC. Not officially, but there was a user who merged two German routes a while ago.

I’m not a fan of TSC passenger because I find the timings very tight but I really enjoy the US freight where you’re not racing against the clock. I like relaxing drive most of all.

Yeah I agree. I think the main issue is how much more taxing TSW is on hardware compared to TSC (I.e. having to have fully modelled trains loaded in TSW compared to TSC which doesn't need a detailed interior).

Although to be honest I think Medway works well on it's own, IIRC little to no services originate from CHX/VIC/CST and go down the MVL (none in the 2018 WTT anyways), and only a few from STP.

Train Simulator is no more or less taxing than Train Sim World overall. From my experience TS is harder to run in certain cases, but throwing a higher clock speed at it massively helps it. However, TSW's appalling anti-aliasing means you need to run the game at 200% screen percentage for it to look anything close to being nice to look at. This obviously has a big impact on framerate.

I have to say that your reasoning for TSW running worse than TS is pretty much irrelevant. Culling and LOD models bring the two closer together than you think.

I have gotten quite bored with TSW of late. The speed of DLC coming out which I may buy and the fact that TSC still has a massive library of stuff means its looking like an uninstall for now. No sign of Preston to Crewe and recent DLC like Medway doesnt float my boat. Am sure I will be drawn back but not rushing.....

I was aware of the merged american routes by trainsimcz, but not the German ones. :o

I hear where you're coming from, which is why I was disappointed in the lacklustre Mastery for April as there's usually incentive to keep playing. I mean, the Czech route and Medway Valley are both excellent routes but even there, at some point the TSW "thing" gets stale. I'm quite enjoying The Bus at present and just taken a speculative punt on the Hamburg DLC which by all accounts is very good.

I think there's only one guy who is doing merges, and he only did one in the US so far.

Medway looks great and congrats to the creating team as they have a lot of good feedback. I just cant bring myself to spend that much on a modern EMU route. JT are great too but one or two items a year? I am pretty much well underway with my 90s North Glasgow N gauge and will probably have it done before anything else comes out that I want....

Have to say the opposite. I played TSC today as I was missing the AP Valenta HST. It was weird, although I have much more content and it was brilliant to have a much more realistic HST to drive, it felt very restricted when it comes to the freedom of driving whatever on the route. Makes me appreciate the timetable that much more. Not to mention the awful loading times (almost 5 minutes for a single scenario!!!). Went over to the scenario editor in TSC to recreate the 12 car 455 workings back in 2006, but even with a reduced timetable (12 car 455s occurred as a result of strike action in 2006) I ran into the AI crawling bug. I think I won't touch TSC for some time.

I usually go quick drive or free roam.

Quick drive for randomness and free roam for shunting. Scenarios dont hold my attention being a script, same in TSW. Timetable mode is good in TSW but the lack of BR era stuff and routes is a real downer.

The only downside about quick drive in my opinion is the inability to add "Go-Via points", as someone who mainly drives Intercity trains, it can sometimes route me onto slower lines. Else than that, TSC is becoming a wonderful adventure.

That's fair. I'm not the biggest fan of free roam as there aren't any specific tasks to complete apart from stopping somewhere. I agree with your lack of BR content comment, JT are really the only developer working on BR content. I am trying to muster something with the Riviera but the lack of alternatives to the Athena MK1s doesn't make it the most enticing.

stopped using Free roam almost completely when I found out that it completely messes up German/Austrian neutral section implementation in locos/units - even those that work properly in timetable mode, tend to not register neutral sections properly in Free roam... also, you can only set up path and one via point, but not like a complete ride with multiple stops... so it is sth more like an empty coach service that way

I would appreciate a feature that would let me advance time - like when you complete a timetable service, and want to drive a particular service but you have like 20mins of downtime in that station, so you could advance time till the service arrives and you can take over

Yes, QuickDrive was/is great as long as you set your paths yourself.

You can add as many waypoints as you want. :o
But true, no AP points, no tasks, it's rather limited for the time being.

On PC, the God mod allows this, but it's guaranteed to disrupt your timetable. Time acceleration, however, doesn't cause such catastrophic damage.

I keep going back to the like of those AP 37 packs and coaches. Then look at TSW which at the current rate of DLC woild see me retired and maybe even not around to match the TSC library.....

Randomness and immersion are my bait. Not bothered about points or ticks. Drove a 37 Glen Douglas to Springburn last night on the merged West Highland route. Was great met a train at Gareloch head and had the RETB plugin running also. Chances of this is in TSW are seemingly zero now.

There are a few things I miss in TSC, some of the routes and the steam traction plus Matrix coaches but hard drive space notwithstanding I still can’t bring myself to reinstall it.

As regards TSW, maybe it’s just me but I start to get
If we did get the West Highland in TSW it would be modern day using 156's with the letterbox view on the daytime trains and the near silent converted 73's on the overnight sleeper service. Not the glory days of 27's or 37's thrashing up Glen Falloch towards Crianlarich.

It works on all of the routes I currently have but its just a bit infuriating when im driving the Railjet, and it takes me through a slower station track than just being able to select the faster one.
I did want to get a look at RWEnhancer 2 to see IF it would give additional features but I have to wait for them to approve my account.

Just create a new QuickDrive scenario if there isn't one already, choose your starting point where you add a "Player Spawn" marker, then set the path you want by clicking on the marker. ;)

Unfortunately, the two have rarely gone hand in hand for me in TSC QuickDrives...
Such things as completely out of place AI consists, especially on merges, Goblin's 172s in the Medway for example, or busy passenger local traffic in the middle of the night...
Building an ideal QuickDrive scenario is atrociously tedious and time consuming. :(

I really liked QuickDrives back in TSC, in fact I only played that, but in the TSW timetable mode, when you see an AI train, you know it should be there, it's not something impromptu.

It is time consuming and an index file with correct consists is essential. I found that a lot of DLC for TSC had wildly innacurate dates for example meaning that some routes see an odd mix. I am at the point though with TSW that its losing its appeal quickly coupled with the bugs and lack of saving ability.

I've been seeing this infrequently since TSW5 I think. When it happens it affects both the game menus and the in game displays in the train.

It all started as a protest of TSW4 coming out when issues with TSW3 had not been addressed. Now I look back on TSW4 with fondness, as it introduced the track monitor and other HUD options, AND I could use my RailDriver with it!

Took a train to Redruth at the weekend. Love this train journey. Do it 3x a year to visit family.

Haven't played for a while but decided to jump back in. Spawned one of the new HST variants on to the Preston to Carlisle route.

Within 5 minutes the HST is blurred, both inside and outside. The ballast is blurred. The grass and crops in the field are blurred. The bridges and buildings are blurred.

This problem is getting so much worse. The game is borderline unplayable when the visuals are so bad.

Ahh simpler days when DTG was simply digging to the bottom of the barrel as opposed to having broken through the bottom and keeping digging.

So the latest update has well and truly broken the game for me on PS5.

It crashes whenever I try to load it up, I've cleared the cache and rebuilt the database twice, doesn't work.

I've deleted the game and reinstalled THREE TIMES!!! It works when I do that.....once, once only. Anytime after that it then just crashes while trying to load.

My game is quite literally now unplayable*

*Unless I want to spend 5 or 6 hours reinstalling everything just to play once.

So the Class 90 (in my opinion worse than the Skyhook 185, worse than the West Cornwal Local, worse than Athena's Class 47/4) wasnt enough of a faff, and didnt cause enough of a backlash - WHAT will?

I know there is an update coming, about LOVE time really, its only been 2 months since it was released. but honestly, how broken or bad does a DLC need to get before enough is finaly enough.

Why wasnt dovetail able to just offer refunds to players who wanted them, ive been informed that this has happened a few times in TSC?

I guess the DLC was deemed acceptable with known issues. Some of the stuff you describe feels like it was phoned in. The West Cornwall effort was truly sub par. The fact that it makes it out of the door is bad enough. Many accept though through lack of alternatives.

I'm not one for tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theories. But DTG does have a history of delaying updates because of a game breaking bug needing to take priority, with the class 90 update due soon along with new core updates and anything else, what are the odds that they'll get delayed to sort out this new issue with PlayStations?
