That's a shame, because I feel Alex does a good job. 95% of what JD says is marketing waffle without answering anything.

I think Alex is on leave currently, but yes I agree JD could have become a politician with his skill of never answering a question

What about stuck AI trains(off path)? Do you work on this problem or just let it stays like this forever?

They have "potential fix" for everything, but nothing was fixed so far. How many "potential fixes" they had for a blurry textures?

Would you consider changing how and when you communicate new DLC, patches and fixes by removing the 0-3 month section from the roadmap and have specific dates for each new DLC or update/remaster or patch/fix?

There is a fair bit of negatvity on this thread with a lot stemming not from the 'what' but the 'when'. Maybe people feel things are getting closer only to find out they are not.

For what it is worth, I'd trade monthly roadmaps and broad announcements of stuff 'coming soon' for fewer, but more reliable updates. Having a list of stuff being worked on and specific meaningful updates when you have them would give me confidence the Train Sim World is moving forwards. Great to know there is stuff coming, but only tell me a date when you are sure it is definitely ready for release.

    One more from me (!).

Can you confirm or deny how successful Wonders Of Sodor has been, in general terms? I know we are told not to go by Steam DB player numbers but those at least do not indicate it’s that popular. As of this morning, 33 in game, 103 24 hour peak. From the point of view of those of us concerned for the future of TSW and that Sodor abstracted valuable time, money and staff resources that paints a picture of money being flushed down the toilet. Please assure us that WoS has not damaged the long term viability of DTG and by extension TSW?

As the resident expert (!) on that, fine on PC but not so easy on console, particularly PS5 from what’s been posted over the years. Also, on Steam, if you start refunding too much you end up with snarky messages from them about abusing the feature and that they reserve the right to remove the feature from your account. The so called “yellow card”. So that’s why, generally, I’m much more caveat emptor and don’t buy into the new DLC hype with a Day One purchase.

As someone who is new to the community side of the sim, I first want to say I appreciate the regularity of content updates and Q+A sessions, compared to other sims, it feels well supported.

My question is could you talk a little about how devs/engineers split time between Train Sim World current, Wonders of Sodor and Train Sim World vNext? As they are on the same engine, I would imagine there is crossover rather than dedicated teams to each game/iteration. And I guess, has the team actually expanded to support Wonders of Sodor, or are the team switching between contexts more than they have done previously?

I hope you can forgive the technical nature of the question, I have a background in software engineering and regularly feel the pain of context switching.

    Random question.

Where do you see the game being in 5 years time with respect to versions, routes and content.

    - Class 90 update for safety systems on console when?
    - Will DTG focus more on quality than quantity in future?
    - What is the status of the new mounting system that will free memory and make layers less resource-hungry?

    Thank you Harry.

I genuinely think TSW will still be the main player and will be a more refined product, I think the player base may increase, especially if routes/traction that are/were popular in TSC migrate over to TSW.

With that in mind I can see this year being an opportunity for a mid-product cycle refresh with a number of historic issues resolved and some work to improve the features that have been introduced over the last 10 years and a new UI.

As for what routes. I'll have a stab at the UK and say that we'll have a mix of busy mainline portions and a few quieter rural/scenic routes. I fear it'll be mostly modern content. Just as AC slamdoors never made it into TSC, I think there's a real risk that 80s AC EMUs won't appear in TSW. Nor can I see any retro routes from DTG for the UK especially now they're working with (Great) British Rail(ways).

You should really check out (preview) streams and the feedback on here before buying if you have doubts about the qualty. Could save you some grief.

i apologise if that came across as rude, it wasn’t my intention. i’m just trying to make the point that the default is to come onto the forums and watch several streams to decide if a product is any good, when in reality i should be able to buy a dlc without there being a very real chance it’s not up to scratch

Fair enough. I think foggy#2817 makes an excellent point though.
I'm not buying FM27 until I've read a lot of customer reviews and seen a number of videos. I've yet to see anything as egregious from DTG but there are undoubtedly common issues and I'm sure we'd all be a bit happier if we could have some reassurance that they are working hard on fixing them.

Also I speak from the perspective of a PC player who has had 40 years of adding mods to improve a base game. Nothing is ever perfect, that's my expectation level for life and its rarely let me down.

One of the main issues with the Class 350 in Train Sim World 6 is the running sounds. The traction and motor audio do not fully match the real-life Pendolino, which is known for its distinctive high-pitched whine at speed. In-game, the sound can feel too quiet and lacks clear variation as the train accelerates or changes speed. This reduces immersion, making the train feel less powerful and less realistic than it should be, especially for such an iconic high-speed service.

Is there any progress on the xbox series x crashes due to out of memory. It gets worse as time goes on.

Cant drive anything in or out of crewe on Birmingham to Crewe. The 805 crashes everytime. Mildmay crashes on approach to Willesden. Stuttgart crashes on approach using the 147 timetable. This is as well as random crashes on other routes.

First party releases has dropped off in the TSW 6 cycle, and the ones that have been released has seemingly been done with an increased relience on third parties (Rivet and TSG). Will this trend continue and can we expect to see DTG acting more as a core developer and publisher rather than creating first party DLC?

Actually, it looks like I was incorrect about New York to Trenton. The LIRR stock is there in timetable services. I think the service that I played previously in journey mode may have potentially been from the NYT reduced timetable.

+1. And to add, reliability of the save particularly loading into a chained run. Surely this cannot be sidelined purely to solve blurry textures?

matt acknowledged it a while ago and said that it’s something they’d like to do but there’s bigger issues to deal with first. bit of a shame that the save slots won’t be improved anytime soon but as matt says, there are definitely other priorities

Do we have any confirmation that the team is aware and working on the broken core PIS system?

Ai Class 350s and many other trains incorrectly display ‘Not in Service’ instead of their intended final destination

It's a TSW4 route and conducter mode was introduced with TSW5, so it's not really likely they will update this route with conducter mode. Or did I miss something and did they announced something about adding it for this route or adding this mode to older routes in general?

Any chance to get a rough estimate when we can expect the 1st patch for the Expert 145?!

+1 on this one from me! Its bad enough to have incorrect dark signals as it is, however, in the past it was pretty safe to ignore them... With this one its getting worse, instead of better!

that's not unusual, some of the smaller gameplay packs don't always get a preview stream. The Skyhook Cargo Line packs haven't had previews.

Features such as the new lighting system, train faults, platform announcements, better AI behaviour, train suspension physics on all locos and on all routes should at the least be present, and hopefully more features to come with the next era of Train Sim World 7 (or whatever you'll decide to call it next); Could we see all these and more features included when we update our game via the free starter pack out of the box for the next era of the TSW game version, and not having to wait for an update on a particular route to get it later down the development pipeline?
    Thanks

I'm concerned about Skyhook's lack of support for its products. The Class 158, which is widely used on UK routes, still hasn't received suspension support. The Class 710 is also in dire need of improvement. It's appalling when a route is built to the latest standards, but its rolling stock hasn't received such support. The same is true for the Class 314 on the Glasgow commuter train (even though the Class 313 has already received support). This urgently needs to be improved. Can we count on it?

Why is there still no mention of the GWR Class 387 after nearly 3 months? Has it been cancelled or anything? Liam had stated in the March Roadmap he wanted to add some details regarding it but the screenshots were not ready, or something along those line, but instead to try share some , even if small, details in the April roadmap, which it was leaked would have been talked about, and here we are in May with no mention.

I’d like to ask the same regarding the NT Class 158. Again, was supposed to be in the roadmap last month but this roadmap doesn’t make mention of it at all.

What’s even more bizarre is that neither of the two are even in the graphic, at least in the ‘Further down the tracks’. So what gives?
