    Nobody asked for this.

Frankly I hope Dovetail continue to make routes in the future using the then-extinct franchises. The variety of liveries is one of the things that the UK has over the other countries in the game and it just adds variety.
This livery, which will be the same on every piece of traction, will suck that life out of it. It'll be more uniform than even Germany, given that they have white IC/ICEs and other operators.

Was just thinking earlier I'd love a pack set just as the Azuma's where coming into service with all 3 in operation. Either that or a 90s timetable with the hst and 91 in swallow livery

I get the free codes you mention and "rock the boat" plenty. My channels are public for all to see.

Maybe this livery will grow on me, maybe not.
As it stands I do prefer liveries that exist IRL, since this livery isn’t even used on the 800 series yet it might as well have been created as a fan project in creations club.

Why this wasn’t offered as a freebie, even for a limited time is beyond me.

After doing some further research I do have doubts if this will be a successful real world livery.

There is no information about how the handling of the branding is presented (FOI).
Read into that however one wishes.

Personally I don’t think GBR are fully comfortable with the branding. I could be wrong.
However a large majority of the public don’t find the new branding attractive enough.
To weak, and this is confirmed after reading up on a number designer articles saying the same.
It doesn’t push the boundaries of design.

Ie my early attempts of designing a GBR logo to challenge that notion.
    IMG_6194.jpeg IMG_6193.jpeg IMG_6314.jpeg IMG_6207.jpeg
GBR LOGO PROPERTY OF THE STATE. Not TM by me, just for full affect of a completed design could look like.

Early testing before I’d fully established a complete design.
All came to a stop obviously due to DTG taking action.
Yet I do thank DTG for saving some.

So will I buy?, probably not at the moment. (Still waiting on other fixes)
Bitter taste, Poor Design. DLC could come with the usual issues.

    Plus it’s a reskin!.

I’d have more fun designing my own. Don’t cost me a penny.

But like any comments this is just my personal opinion based on being a livery creator. (Part retired, to much red tape).

And don’t worry DTG I won’t be attempting to upload any GBR content. GBR took the fun out of the game for me.
For the fans of the game then I believe they would have accepted anything but what this DLC currently offers.
Will GBR take over new content thus pushing back old branding that fans still wish to see?.

Would this mean TSW is now a GBR marketing tool. If so could have a say on what happens within DTG.

    Only time will tell.

    ✌.

I will buy tomorrow since the price is quite reasonable, but i understand the criticism, this should be free for those who have both the required dlcs

I dont get why this isn't free for people that own both routes. This same kinda of the boston sprinter HSP46 dlc was. We got free if owned both of routes.

The reason why has been answered a few times now. Creating a 225 set would be very expensive as you need the Class 91, a DVT and then several (different) MK4 carriages to make up a rake. That would be much more expensive than an EMU or DMU that generally share just a couple of different vehicles. It would more than likely require a new route, say London Kings Cross to Peterborough (76 miles).

Don't get me wrong, a 225 set along with a new 76 mile route is well within the scope of a DTG route.

The question is, is it too early for another strecth of the ECML, considering the interest in the current ECML route tailed off very quickly with many players citing it being limited on gameplay variation, and scenery being very minimal, literally a line of trees.

I don’t get why some people think it should be free. It is a product and people should have a reasonable expectation to have to pay for such a product. I get why some people don’t want it but those who do can surely stump up a fiver for it.

This isn’t comparable to the HSP46 DLC as this is something new and not a carry over from one route to another like that was. DTG didn’t have to offer that one for free either but they did so because people were complaining about buying the same loco as part of a route and again as a loco DLC for an existing route, paying twice for the same train. Players still needed to buy the train once (as part of the route) to get the freebie in the other route. This GBR train does not exist anywhere other than the loco DLC.

No, considering about 18 million WCML routes have come since the only ECML route we have was released

So it turns out someone created this “exact” same skin in creators club.
Nice, I’ll download that and save myself a fiver. Happy days.

And the usual suspects will still try to justify why a reskin from the creators club shouldn't be free

This. They must be really desperate for money at this point...

Oh and it looks like the green strip along the luggage rack has been reskinned blue, as well as the grab handles. Wow - low hanging fruit doesn't begin to describe it. More like a root vegetable!

Nope, they keep removing the GBR 802 liveries from the Creators Club, fortunately they can't remove it from the TSCommunity website, well for those that wanted one in the first place of course...

I would like to add some clarity here.

This will be from my previous experiences with GBR liveries (2025 mostly).

First up I do want to give DTG and GBR huge credit for at least allowing highly detailed work such as these to remain.
    IMG_5178.jpeg IMG_5666.jpeg

However a large amount did not remain on CC nearer the time of the official GBR launch.
    Such as these. IMG_9865.jpeg IMG_9783.jpeg
I attempted to speak with DTG privately about the work I was doing to prevent any future problems.
Didn’t happen and so work was taken down.

I had to accept that if it’s a brand not owned by me. A brand is an identity. The identity the government wants.
Therefore it will be removed from CC because of that reason.
Secondly it’s about licensing and money for the licensing fees.
Who owns the rights to the design?.
Did tax payers money get used to gain rights to the design and development process?.
If so a government will try to gain money back from investing using taxpayer money.

Then there a DTG cost involved too. Staff wages in development of the DLC.
A majority of what been mentioned above has already been publicly addressed by DTG staff themselves.

Doing some research I found out a firm had been paid a reasonable sum for the design costs.
If found to be factual correct which from the source material I read would confirm this to a reader.

Basically from my understanding and personal perspective I do think it’s all being blown out of context.

GBR is owned by the relevant parties. They have a right to control and monitor their image in the public sphere.
To maintain that right and to legally protect and serve any legal interests.
DTG has the right to work with whom it so wises if it’s for the benefit of the company on a longer term basis.

I personally think it’s a good way to reduce overall cost to both parties involved.
It helps GBR promote its work and could help with DTG in reduced licensing costs.
By both working together is good for the rail industry. Again a positive in my eyes as I feel it’s something that could serve both DTG in providing more real world TOC liveries and again for the rail sector in promotional terms.

Safety and Environmental campaigns. Even to help recruit new people to the industry.

What DTG and GBR has done is in my opinion a step in the right direction.

Yes it cost 4.99 and yet look at all the noise. When at the end of the day it’s cost more to buy a breakfast bap everyday and most don’t think twice.

Yes the livery might be on CC but why sabotage a government backed program.
I could have easily made one but with all the hassle and the fact it’s our own government (Yes some might laugh here) there’s no reason too, Adding to that is the fact this nation is on it’s knees.

Can we the community at least focus on some good rather than the negative.
If the negative energy that comes from outside of these community walls starts to enter then, again I ask where has all the fun gone?.

    ✌.

A breakfast cob serves a purpose. You didn't have the cob for free and then all of a sudden get charged for it because a different company takes over.

How is something free if a person has no rights to the property.

How can I give you something I don’t own.

I don’t own GBR license or rights to the creators credit. I’d be ripping them off.

So to you and any CC creators. Is it fair to copy others work with no credit?.
And is it fair to complain when a company has the legal authority to any brands or licensing?.

And if you run a company such as DTG to help GBR and fans that like the DLC do it all for free in such a poor economic climate.

And I’m not here to argue with you or anyone.

We can create noise all day but who’s listening?. And who cares, it’s just an opinion.
Not the end of the world.

I mean do you value your time here more than you do being alone.
It’s a waste of energy. GBR and DTG have done it now.

And that’s that. No amount of unnecessary drama can change what’s happened.
Ie DTG values its own opinions than that of others that don’t know half of it.

We can only look at what is on display and how each individual perceives that makes all the difference between a discussion over a tic for tac debate.

So I listened to your opinion and respect your point of view. But I stick to my own opinion.
I do get where your coming from but are we just assuming based again on what you or I perceive the situation without fully disclosing all facts.

We are speaking publicly here so hands are tired. And for me personal it’s not worth the worry or the time.

As you can see I create and would like DTG to work more closely with TOCs because from my perspective I feel it would be advantageous to the industry. Can you not see the benefit in DTG doing something more along these lines?.
By working with GBR could hint at the possibility.

I’m being positive about this situation. Looking at it all from a different angle.

    ✌.

Let's look back at Microsoft Flight Simulator in the late 1990s, the graphics were improving as was the player base thanks to the big jump that was FS98 and then FS2000. Now obviously the sim came with several aircraft by default but then extra add-ons soon arrived, with all the popular commercial airliners being available within a year or so, then came the repaints and then the "Virtual Airlines". Something completely new as a concept to most people, there'd be a website complete with timetable and pilot list, other bits and bobs and all looking close to the authentic genuine airline website, you know American, Delta, British Airways etc...

Those airlines and their legal teams had a bit of a quandary, they didn't want to be heavy handed in terms of coming down on people having some fun and it wasn't hurting the brand so unless people were silly, the airlines would quite happily have a bit more free publicity. Nobody was being charged for the liveries so nobody was making money off the airline so again they didn't really care. In-fact the only airline to have any issue with flight simulator liveries was Continental and that was due to one specific aircraft, a Boeing 777 which had been adorned with a special livery to celebrate the Millennium. The artist, Peter Max was not happy which led to the airline being not happy and forcing take-down notices of said livery (personally I think the livery is LOVE anyway but whatever).

With regard to these GBR liveries, you are not selling them for profit, while one could argue that a trademark is being misused one could also argue that every reskin using EWS, DRS, Freightliner, BR, Reggie Rail, Intercity, DB etc is also being misused as those trademarks are still valid. DTG pulled them because they didn't want people downloading something higher quality for free rather than paying for their pathetic cash grab, doubly annoying considering that it's not even the livery that's going to be used in the end anyway.
