The Pendo is one of my favourite trains in tsw. I can’t wait to drive it all the way from London Euston to Crewe. But ever since tsw6 I miss hearing the onboard announcements all the new trains have as they add a lot to the immersion. So I was excited when dtg said in their patch notes somewhere in November that they would add Avanti West Coast announcements for the class 390 in their next core update. Did dtg just forgot about this or did they scratch it? I can’t find anything about it.
Surely the answer is "they aren't getting announcements on existing routes just yet"? Being a new route, I'd be surprised if the Pendos are not getting them for Trent Valley. Can you even hear announcements in Pendo cabs? I seem to recall someone saying they're pretty well sound-proofed.
That's disingenuous or ragebait or both. Is it a "standard feature"? New features will apply to new releases. Rolling them out to older releases usually happens when routes are updated/refreshed. There's a difference between "Core features" (which is what I assume you're referencing) and "new features".
iirc they erroneously put it in the patch notes, despite not being the patch, then immediately after clarified saying they wouldn't be coming at all, which makes no sense... ...barely anything from dtg makes sense no more...
No the pendo will be a layer for Trent valley, same as B2C. Only new trains and trains that are included with new routes will have announcements.
There is a mod on TSC that adds real 390 announcements if you are on PC: https://www.trainsimcommunity.com/m...nts/i7314-class-390-onboard-announcements-mod
Yes you can in a lot, albeit much quieter. Just saying for those interested in a realistic experience I don’t know if you’d hear anything from a 390 cab. Each to their own.
Maybe it's because I'm old fashioned and miss the days of peaceful travel without constant automated announcements, people having loud phone conversations or listening to films and music without headphones. Or maybe it's because I listen to podcasts while driving but I really don't care about onboard announcements. But yes, each to their own. I'm pretty sure if you put a question to the community asking what they would want sorted first; Core improvements or the retrospective introduction of on-board announcements across all DLC, most would vote for the former.
In a perfect world the DTG team would add announcements to all existing trains, sometime in the near distant future. There’s a lot of commuter driven routes that would enhance their value, routes like Cathcart, BCC, both Overground routes for example. One thing at a time though, let them fix outstanding bugs and issues first, then maybe once their hands are not so tied up DTG can bring those much requested missing train announcements to the game.
You wouldn’t, but as someone already said it’s not the point. The announcements should be heard whether it’s realistic or not. There’s the option to turn them off completely in the menu’s for those who prefer the realism aspect.
i’d happily pay a bit extra for a carriage without any phone calls or conversations, shame that peacefulness seems lost on many people nowadays
The type of people who love the sound of their own voice. Another thing that rustles my feathers… Seems to happen more on buses, but have seen it on trains “people playing excessively loud music”. Some are not even wearing headphones either, they must be doing it to annoy everyone.
I remember being on an hour plus bus journey with someone playing a mobile game without headphones the entire way almost. It's just common decency man... Bit different but the bus journey I was on yesterday I had two people both talking on their phones (not on loud speaker, thankfully) just slagging each other off to whoever they were talking to
on the 350 and 805 they are there, but apart from those two the rest of the stock hasn’t been updated yet
Many UK trains (and no doubt in other countries too) have 'quiet' carriages, where there should be no music played or loud phone conversations. But enforcement is 'patchy'.
