Finally… Something to seriously look forward to when it comes to TSC, I can’t remember the last time I was properly excited for a new DLC release. Saying that I’ve been waiting for ages for something like this would be an understatement!
Fingers crossed mate! I just hope it happens, I do have the XPT, Adelaide Metro 4000 Class, Adelaide Metro 3000/3100 and QR ICE in TSC but... I can't figure out physics, lua scripting and more. I just used the basic developer samples to get them to work in TSC. I wish I could figure out how to import them into TSW 5 or 6 and get the trains to drive despite not having a cab and passenger interiors
As I suspected they are building a Steam loco Down near the bottom of the RH side as it is in alphabetical order https://caledoniaworks.com/future-dlc/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victorian_Railways_NA_class
That is absolutely awesome! Not sure on what, if any, routes you could run it due to the oddly specific gauge but I’m not complaining either way. It would just be something fun to own and I’m not going to complain about some professionally made Australian DLC which quite simply never comes around.
Not surprised if it's from some third-party website, of course they'll have a lot of mods (routes/locos) that won't even ever come to TSC (as an official DLC), possibly but mainly because of licensing, route length etc.
I did some reskins in NSWGR and SRA liveries a while back, and ran them on the Tumulla Banks route. Just the Kuju EMD F7 and Class 47 reskins, though, as well as some coaches, so may not be any use to you. This was even posted in the screenshots forum here: Also done an Intercity XPT, but that's also a Kuju HST reskin as well. So just have to still hope for high-quality Aussie routes to come along in the future!
Amusing story, but slightly off-topic. I remember travelling on one of those many years ago. Inside were leaflets proclaiming how the types were based on the famous British HST. "Oh well", I said to my travelling companion "we'll break down then". And we did. We got straight off and onto a waiting suburban service. Twenty minutes the rest of the passengers were transferred to our train which still hadn't departed. They thought I was a "local" because I had made the decision before being turfed off. J
Reskins aren't really my cuppa tea mate, I'm just not a huge fan of fictional rolling stock or routes It's real or nothing!
Licensing is just an excuse used by Dovetail Games Take a look at the Aurora - Chicago racetrack route, they did not bother adding the METRA logo that's where licensing is needed you don't need a license for models or routes
Except DTG did not make that route.- it was done by Chicago & Southwest Productions DTG could not Publish to Steam it without a License as they would fall fowl of BNSF Rules. So a patch was made to add later - like AP have Livery Patches Were you playing the game when BNSF withdrew permission to use their livery on DLC Sold outside the USA? If you think "Licensing is just an excuse" why are there no trains in Virgin Trains or Arriva Trains Wales liveries?
PLD (formerly Bossman Games) were planning to do a NSW 38 class but not sure if that will happen any time soon.
Looks like CW is showing interest in actively developing the NSWGR Z19 Class amongst their other current projects such as the LNWR Teutonic and GNR A1. Screenshot from Golden Age Developments’ Discord server.
I think the problem is that there isn’t much profit incentive. There are little to no Australian routes out there from what I’ve seen and the ones that are out there are often of limited and poor quality by today’s standards. Many of them are also very difficult to find. Especially because many were just passion projects released as freeware. So why make Australian loco DLC when you have nearly no routes or Rollingstock to run them with, barely anyone would buy them except diehard Aussie railway enthusiasts like you and me who would be happy buying it for collections sake alongside wanting to show monetary support for Aussie DLC so more gets made. But I don’t think there is enough of us playing TSC these days to spur on the production of more high quality Aussie DLC as most Australian railfans stick to Trainz since it originated as an Australian made game with Aussie content so it’s always been the home for that sort of thing. Because of that people who wish to produce Australian related railway simulation content will publish and develop for Trainz instead as it would garner more interest and profit if it’s sold for money thanks to the larger Australian railway fanbase playing the games of that series. Another major factor is that Trainz is simpler and gets actual proper modern re-releases with QoL features TSC doesn’t have so it’s a lot easier to develop for as well. At the end of the day my point is it’s always an uphill battle for TSC Australian content, because most Australian railway simulation enthusiasts are on Trainz instead and if you want to develop Australian content why wouldn’t you go with the option that will generate you a better profit on a platform that is far easier to develop for? Either way I’m stubborn and I’ll never give up hope for proper TSC Aussie content though no matter how dire it seems! It was satisfying enough for me to see that Golden Age Developments has a high quality asset pack for Australian road signage available for free download and the dioramas they made to showcase it for the screenshots look great. It shows there is at least some interest out there for it even if it is little.
It's just a shame that Hotbox Content don't do assets for TSC - they stuff they do for Trainz looks great and would look even more amazing in TSC https://www.hotboxcontent.com.au/#/
