instead of making it a whole new game i feel like lirr commuter should get an upgrade to be more realistic,enjoyable and to meet real life standards. grand central and elmont ubs arena should be made with the third track from floral park to Hicksville and station improvements along the whole map especially stations on the mainline since the ones in the game right now are the old model ones before renovations. there also needs to be more timetables for when grand central gets added because currently on peak hours the lirr takes up 3 tracks on the mainline between Penn station-Jamaica and in game currently the lirr only uses 2 since penn station is the only place they depart from on the mainline and not also grand central which takes away realism. Atlantic terminal should be used as a shuttle for trains to jamaica since the adding of grand central limited atlantic terminal services. i also feel like track sounds need to be added with suspension on the m7s and m9s. scenery should also get updated all around the map since most of the scenery in the game right now is outdated from the 2020 version. it would also be nice if the schedules were made to be from 2026 since that's the busiest timetable for the lirr currently. Ai announcements should also get added at stations and for the m7s and m9s just like how the newer released routes are. i really hope everything listed in my suggestion can come as a patch the current lirr commuter 100% needs some updates as it feels like how the lirr was in 2019
for example this is how mineola and new hyde park currently look which it looks nothing like this in game its missing a track in game its supposed to be 3 tracks not 2 while grade crossing should be removed for all of these stations since they were removed all over the mainline after stations were renovated 90% of stations in the game are also pre renovations except for the long beach side so it feels like how the lirr was in 2019 rather than now
to add to everything elmont should be added into game because it serves big branches like ronkonkoma, huntington and the hempstead branch and it feels less realistic that its not even in the game at all
There was no confusion about what you wanted from your first thread. I would say it’s highly unlikely that there will be any more changes to LIRR in the game or another new version. The current version will not be updated to present day as TSW routes stay in the time period they are first made in. Sometimes there are additional timetables that are set in a different time period but the routes do not change. If it feels like it’s set in 2019 now it will always feel like that. It’s never going to change.
thats not exactly true its really up to dovetail to update it ill use new york-stamford as an example for the release of the metro north going into stamford from grand central alot of existing areas were updated such as new rochelle, grand central itself added a lower level, harlem 125th, scenery all around from amtraks side and metro norths current existing city view from manhattan its not like they released new York -Stamford without updating things from the harlem line and nec so its really up to dovetail and im not asking for a whole other route im just asking for things in the game to be updated going up to hicksville, hempstead, long beach is really fun for me its just the stations and the tracks for certain areas that needs fixing not even asking for alot
it does because some people didnt realize i was talking about commuter someone replied to me in the old thread saying "Did you just forget about LIRR commuter? Which fixed most of this except from wee extras like station announcements" meanwhile lirr commuter fixed none of that, i just want to see lirr getting updated just like how new york-stamford is the metro north feels way more up to date than the lirr so i dont see why the lirr cant get some love too
There are big differences between the Stamford route and what you’re asking for here. There were bits updated in that but it wasn’t for an already existing Stamford route but a new route using updated parts of two older routes, one which is only available in very old versions of TSW. Updating an existing route to change the time period it is set in is a different request and I’m just informing you that DTG don’t do that. LIRR already had a second version with an extension but they didn’t change the time period. They might add suspension and announcements at some point, which will improve the route, so those parts of your suggestion are more likely to happen but that’s a lot of work for a free upgrade. A lot of players would be happy if they did that.
i wonder why dont they change the time period it would be really fun to go in and out of grand central madison with more timetables and have a third track on the mainline with station renovations all around the map with slightly better scenery that would be way better than what it is currently right now everytime i play commuter i feel like im stuck back in time it just doesnt feel right playing with that 2017-2019 feel but DTG can fix that if they wanted just like how they added the m9s into the game which the m9s are after that era they also added a tall building around jamaica that was fully constructed around 2021-2022 and to mention some of the buildings from the manhattan skyline in new york-stamford were constructed from 2022-2023- currently and they claim that the route is based from 2015 even at sunnyside in game if u look at all of those tall buildings those were also constructed from 2017 which is older than 2015 so DTG can do it if they wanted i hope they see this so they can understand where im coming from
