trust me its not from Discord servers and YouTube, whilst my comments were wrong, i do work with a group of 40-80 year old blokes me being the youngest on a railway and the chat in the brew room is a lot more to the bone than what i posted. i just forgot what stays in the brew room stays there and shouldn't be put out on here, but discord and youtube ???

it wasn't meant to sound like bragging or having no regrets
the context and i will admit to being 40 was that i do like messing around and do use my windscreen wash (WITH WATER) was to hit my boss when he comes out with a last min job or hit security when he wants a full van serch when im running late, along with the many other small little things. i did carry on with it on the road hitting people sat at lights with their window down on their phone or mr cool guy in his soft top that been driving like a *******, the high school kids that walk down the middle of a busy b road to get them to shift out tov way. but then with what i filled up the screen wash with and me forgetting what was in it. it was wrong so so wrong but the amusement was that what a bloody prat id been, in that messing around had gone so wrong. i think most of us at my age we all had a joke gone wrong in a bad way and that others find humor in it.

They replaced 47s with 20s? Any reason for that? Cheaper or close clearances or something?

At a guess it was to do with 47s being wanted for Freightliner and Speedlink type work as 45s were getting withdrawn. I recall at one point all the North West workings were 20s bar the odd one from the Yorkshire pits. They tried 4 on the front of the Gladstone dock trains which were notoriously heavy. Even todays type 5s get banked sometimes with the Biomass trains.

Are the UK locos limited in the number of banked engines and/or DPUs they can have in a consist? US locos can get quite a few (up to 8 regularly) in huge consists. Wasn't sure if the UK locos had the same capability.
Not that it's required normally for the much smaller consists and shorter routes in the UK, but for Class 20's I can see them needing to string quite a few together for a heavy coal train.

Think it was usually a maximum of 3 locos working in multiple under blue star. Obviously DPU isn't a thing in the UK and if you wanted more, or put them front and rear you had/have to do tandem working with multiple drivers. Obviously if its a loco that doesn't use the same MU standard (Class 56 on red diamond for example), or doesn't have MU at all (Class 45/47 for example) it would have to be tandem worked again with multiple crews again.

Ah, so the Class 20x3 would make them a bit more capable than a single 47 (more traction, power and braking from multiple axles, with a single driver?) in some situations. A lot more maintenance perhaps, but it would give new life to the Class 20s. That makes sense.
    Thank you.

well, technically only a pair is needed to exceed the tractive effort of a single 47, given the 47 weighs in at 120-130ton and a Class 20 is around 73T each so a pair has significantly more adhesive weight than a single 47. That and they have sanders where a 47 does not! The power is lower of course but given we're talking about freight working it isn't really a major consideration when the top speed may be as low as 45mph (for example loaded HAAs) or more typically 60mph.

Oh and the bonus of the 20s being geared lower, so the continous rating is only 11mph (speed it must be able to maintain at full power otherwise it overheats the motors and electronics), while the 47 has to maintain 26mph. Generally 47s were not fantastic at heavy freight work hence 56s replaced them which are an all around improvement for freight working.

My memory is of pairs of 20s (coupled nose to nose) on MGR trains. I’m sure there are instances of 3 having been used, but I don’t remember it being a regular thing.

I'll be really disappointed if it is Trent Valley, as you say it's already on Steam and already down to £9.99 so they may try and boost sales. Fingers crossed for it being Preston to Crewe

Trent Valley, the 100+ mile route is only $9.99? That seems...low.
I mean I could see that for the Thames Valley one where it's 3 tiny branches....

He means that the $9.99 pricetag refers to the TSC Trent Valley...

Well I still think it'd be fair for the Thames Valley in TSW6, but that's already being discussed in another thread.
I hope the "surprise" is Preston to Crewe, but we'll see. If it needs longer to cook, then so be it.
Trent Valley isn't really on my list.

Not sure why you posted that old bean. Was just clarifying the only Trent Valley on Steam listed with a price is the old TSC version. The TSW one doesn't have a price yet and Thames valley branches is not listed at all, yet.

That's a map of the Thames Valley Branches route. This thread is about the Trent Valley route for TSW, which has not been released yet and which definitely won't be priced at £9.99. The route you've seen for £9.99 is the Trent Valley for Train Sim Classic, which is an older and completely separate game.

Get this route released already! :D

Initially sceptical, there's enough in this route now, I'm keen for it to be out, and not just because I have a couple of weeks off coming up!
Especially looking forward to the new coach variants.

I really hope there will be another neutral zone map. The one for Preston-Carlisle was so helpful.

The first ones south of Preston are fairly easy to find, although my route knowledge is a little rusty, they are immediately south of Euxton Junction about 9-11 minutes south of Preston.

The next one is at Golbourne Junction, then somewhere near Weaver Junction and finally (depending on date as ISTR is was played with in the mid 80s) Crewe Coal Yard almost dead on the 159 milepost. I'll try and put these on a route map when I have a few minutes.

Yes, and if you read my comments, I said something small like the Thames route is all you'd get for $9.99 in TSW. =-)
I was doubting the price for a TSW route, and it turns out it was a TSC route on offer, not TSW.
    So we agree.

Such a sorry position that I gave up hope in December this route would be out soon, and here we are about to go into June and it's still not here.

The only positive is that we are unlikely to be used a Beta testers when it’s released and the quality will be top level. I guess they could have pushed it sooner and gave us something on par with the Class 90, which still hasn’t been fixed despite it’s multiple flaws

Things I currently expect to see before the arrival of this DLC:

1 - The return of Lord Lucan
    2 - World Peace
3 - The long overdue cancellation of Mrs Browns Boys
4 - Timetravel available to everybody (which ironically means we could just use it to go back to the 80s instead and no longer need the route)

JT Team - this is all in jest, we know you've got a good track record for awesome DLC and are hopefully just polishing it.

A few things happened behind the scenes which caused delays along with the timetable taking a lot longer than I anticipated due to how complex it is but fingers crossed it should be with you soon :)

Day one from myself. Would rather wait and have usual JT quality than some of the rushed (and never fixed) that some others have done.

I'm quite partial to the big Fokker myself ;)

When I'm not in the PA28 or my A320 of course :)

It's too hot right now to load up MSFS though, I think it'd set my house alight :/

As I mentioned in the OT forum, Neofly has made MSFS much more interesting. Need to check out what your sister department have on offer to get away from the default or official DLC.

Fokker 100, it is a twin jet passenger airline made in the Netherlands and sadly no longer in production but great for making little jokes "big Fokker / little Fokker" there are still some in the skies of Europe and our guys start grinning like Cheshire cats if they end up making that ATC call of "got the little Fokker in sight" ;)

Phenomenal, the dev blog really hits it out of the park with the build up and explaining some of those services and jobs that are coming up and then the video, well done! It was good to see wazza so busy even if the time lapse was only a short period it really suggests that this timetable is going to be very well packed.

Which reminds me of the (very) old joke about an RAF officer recounting his wartime exploits to a school assembly: "I was on patrol over the Channel when three Fockes jumped me out of the sun ..." The headmistress hastily interrupted to explain that Focke-Wulf were a German aircraft manufacturer. "True, madam, but these Fockes were Messerschmitts!"

Please don't get me wrong - it will be a "day one" purchase for me, and I also highly doubt all the delays were down to you. It's just been a highly anticipated route for me and so feels like it's taking an age to appear :)

Interesting reply on Facebook, it seems that the release date is down to DTG.

Yeah, this is the only route for a sim that I have ever actually wanted so the wait is killing me.

No stream next week then, what an absolute shambles making a who ha about a big reveal last week. So manager community managers and yet again they promise and fail to deliver.

DTG has always been in charge of release dates, but third parties do aim for certain release windows. It's a shame that DTG are just making stuff up now, because the 0-3 months roadmap section is just straight lies at this point. It would be better off calling it "expected before the other stuff section"

The hell do you mean the long overdue cancellation of Mrs Browns Boys? The show is the best on the British network, definitely beats those crappy dramas

They have since changed their mind, there is a stream though we need to time travel to April...

Yes but it has gone beyond the realm of farce, how long have DTG been sitting on it? It's clear that they are going to push out Trent Valley very shortly given the new stream announcement. As for the roadmaps, they might as well not bother as they are about as reliable as a plumber's estimate.

Ah, so you're the one viewer under 70? ; -)

hopefully we'll get the GP60M before the TSW7, but I'm starting to think that maybe the Tadami Line will only come after the TSW7
