While it could come across as cringe-worthy, what I mean by that title is a preserved, mainline certified steam loco from each of the rail companies from the Big 4 (established in January 1st 1923, ceased in 1947). These 4 companies were the LMS (London Midland and Scottish), LNER (London North Eastern Railway), GWR (Great Western Railway), and SR (Southern Railway). In my opinion, iconic locos from each of the companies were the 'Duchess' Class 4-6-2, 'A4' Class 4-6-2, 'Castle Class' 4-6-0, and 'Merchant Navy' Class 4-6-2. Locos of each class that are mainline certified: - Duchess No. 6233 'Duchess of Sutherland' - A4 No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' - Castle No. 7029 'Clun Castle' - Merchant Navy No. 35028 'Clan Line' Routes that these locos could layer onto: - WCML South, Trent Valley and Birmingham to Crewe: All four - West Somerset Railway Steam gala: All four - Southeastern High Speed and Medway Valley: Clan Line - Riviera Line and GWE Remaster: Clun Castle - ECML Peterborough to Doncaster: Sir Nigel Gresley and Duchess of Sutherland - Brighton Mainline: Clan Line - (Ai only) Cardiff City Network: Clun Castle These locos should come with their own support coaches and each have proper, mainline certified railtour coaching stock, not like with Flying Scotsman where the coaches from the NTP were just reskinned, with no interior alterations. Because of how much this pack would offer compared to other loco packs, I would be fine with this pack costing £20. Note - the only thing that could put this pack's title into question is the fact that 'Clan Line' and Clun Castle hadn't been built in the time period of the big 4, I just wanted to think of some commonly used locos from the companies that are still mainline certified.
@blibbles#5319 Are you really serious? You want four steam locomotives and carriages to go with them, and you reckon the price should be 20 pounds?? Do you actually know how long it takes just to build one locomotive? And even for one very good steam locomotive, you’d certainly pay 20 pounds or more.
Bro, chill out, I'm not a game designer, just because I don't know doesn't mean you have to insult me, I just made a suggestion and you're acting like it's a hate crime, I said £20 because there are routes that cost that much, if this is asking too much, fine, i'd delete the post but that's not a option without contacting a dev, but don't insult me because of it, I'm new to this.
If 4 locos is too much, then a dev could make a pack featuring just one of these locos, preferably 6233, Duchess of Sutherland.
It's not too much, don't worry about the other guy. Really good suggestion. People should really understand that asking more from the developers is only beneficial to the game, and if the outcome is not up to standards for some, it doesn't mean it isn't for other people, and vice versa.
The bigger issue is that DTG have shown no real inclination to get back into steam loco production for TSW and only one third party (German TSG) is actively progressing development in that field. Every other developer appears to have looked at the state of steam in the game and decided, "No thank you, too much like hard work for very mediocre results". The suggestions are otherwise sound, but even if this hypothetically got made it would be individual packs for each loco, probably selling at a premium £15 or £16 each.
Thank you for not attacking me like the other guy, I agree with what your saying, the devs really confuse me with their standards, they're not bad per say, just slightly questionable.
I know they have quietly abandoned steam development but if they haven't said that officially, I think people should still submit steam suggestions. If they have said that they've abandoned steam development fully, that's quite a poor move, because I thought TSW was supposed to be a simulator for all kinds of motive power, not just diesel and electric.
Well hopefully if TSG can improve steam simulation with thier upcoming route they can maybe share that tech/knowledge about
It's a good suggestion to bring more British Steam Loco's in the game. It only can happen on how well TSG did on revamping the Steam loco simulation for the upcoming German Steam Loco route dlc.
Shouldn't be thanking me as that's how it should be in the first place. 15£ is way too much for only one, it's basically half the price of a route. Maybe make it 25/30£ for all of them, but I reckon it shouldn't go higher than that.
Sorry to burst your bubble chap, but like it or not that is generally the going rate for a single loco/train pack. More if it’s considered “Expert” like the DB BR 101 and 145. Whether you agree with the pricing model or not, that presents three stark choices 1. Peel off your wad and stump up the Day One price, 2. Wait six months or so for a sale discount, 3. Let it pass you by.
Yep, sorry, my bad. In my head I thought the prices for locos DLCs were way lower. Still think they shoudn't be that expensive but I agree on the 15£ you said.
Well I wouldn’t pay full price for the expert ones, just as I wouldn’t (these days) buy PMDG stuff for Flight Sim, which costs more the the OG game!
Imo price should never be something mentioned in a suggestion. We don’t make the product so we don’t get to decide the price.
