I watched the show back in the 90s then stopped when I got older. Then I bought this game and now I'm watching the show again. This is the first simulator game I remember ever playing. And I have to say a train simulator fits Thomas perfectly. What I find amazing is this game makes these cartoon trains from my childhood, feel like actual real trains when you're in their driving cab. The only one I'm not familiar with is Emily. Since I don't remember watching any of the Thomas show from the 2000s.

You could be me mate! I was Thomas mad as a kid (born 89), so only had a connection to the first 3 series, didn't know Emily existed until I bought the game. Henry and Edward obviously essential add ons, don't know much about these new-fangled characters, but would like to see Duck, Boco, Donald and Douglas, Bill and Ben, Terence, Harold and Trevor.

Have enjoyed the game, but have now done everything, and as discussed on another thread, the game will need filling out pretty soon to keep the momentum up. I'm hopeful of plenty of fresh content.

I'm a series one original (September 1981), so I too am hoping for as much classic RWS and series 1-4 content as possible.

And I agree, it is rather like playing with "real life" toys!!

It seems like the devs are also fans of the early tv series with the love and attention to detail they put in like the barbers shop that Duck crashed into, Mrs kindly’s house and the chain ferry by the quarry

I have been wondering what are they gonna do about the "Thomas & Gordon* story, when they finally add Henry? Are they just gonna leave it as is or add Henry in it? Both Henry and James made their first appearance in that episode. They were not introduced in that episode but they show up there.

Yeah I'm glad Thomas finally got the kind of game I would play as an adult. My interest in this series was fully restored because of this game.

    To Dovetail Games,

If you Don't know me, I'm a New Member For WOS, And Ever since The Game Came Out, Most of It was Pretty Good, Adding our Favorite Locations From The RWS, The TV Series, The CGI Era, And What Locations were Forgotten,

However... There are A few problems with The Game, It's not about Bugs, Glitches, Or What Else i can list, I'm Talking About the Characters, as we only got 6 of them to drive, Such as Thomas, Gordon, James (Add-On Only + Deluxe Edition), Percy, Emily, & Diesel,

These Characters You chose are great, But I think There Should be More Characters in the Game, For Example: Edward, Henry, Duck & Oliver Have been Mentioned In 2 of 12 Stories (Deluxe Edition), Meaning That They Might Have been hinted To come to WOS, And i get it, You Hadn't Work on them Yet, Because You Want To see our Experience with The Game, And you might be Tired of People Asking You To Bring Them into WOS, With many Other Characters, But Sometimes... if The Fans want Them so bad, You Can Put them In Anytime You Want,

You don't have to, if you don't Want to, But You Can Still Do That If You Like, Or Decide to Do So, After All, I was taught one Thing...

What Defines A Creature (Which we are)... Is Not The Heart in It's Chest... But The Spark... That Resides in Their Core... A Spark, That Gives You The Will, And Ability, To make Your World Better... And That Spark, Nobody Can Take From You... Ever... ...

Which is Advice That you should Take From Me, and i know you still didn't make the other Characters That We Want, But Maybe You Made Edward, Henry, Duck, Oliver, And Other Characters So They Can Be Added Soon, Hopefully you did (although i said you kinda didn't, but i digest), And if You Got Time, You Can Make As Many Railway Lines as You want, Branchlines, Mainlines, You name it,

And I have my fingers crossed for You to Get Them In The Game Soon, Hopefully as Unlockable Book Collectable Characters For The Base Game, Even Though It's Impossible To Add Them To The Base Game As Collectables, And Once Found, Then To Drive The Characters That Weren't Even Added, Maybe Add Edward To The Base Game As A Secret Character,

Hopefully You Understand What i'm Saying, And Enjoy The Rest Of Your Day,

Sincerly, Awesomexws (i had to write this down again, because i wrote it in what's next for wonders of sodor, but decided to delete that, and write it down here Instead, etc)

Toby was also mentioned in one of the TSW 5 Thomas stories last year too. He and the other four engines mentioned earlier seem the most likely candidates to be added next.

Oh, I don't really know much about Dovetail's development process, but Toby was already featured in previous Train Sim World titles. Because of that, you'd think he'd be one of the easier characters to bring over. It honestly makes me wonder why he hasn't been announced yet, considering a lot of the groundwork for him has seemingly already been done. Maybe there's a reason behind the scenes, but from an outside perspective, he feels like a pretty logical candidate.

Oh, silly me then. That definitely gives me more confidence that Toby will appear in Wonders of Sodor eventually. If Dovetail keeps name-dropping engines, it's hard to imagine they have no interest in adding them. When he'll arrive is anyone's guess, but I doubt they'd keep mentioning characters just to get fans' hopes up. Nothing is confirmed until it's announced, but I'd say Toby's chances look pretty good.

Exactly, taking everything that dovetail is saying/doing at face value, I have a feeling that they wouldn’t just casually namedrop popular/iconic characters unless if there were plans to add them in the game eventually.

Toby was mentioned prior to WOS

Edward, Henry, Duck and Oliver were mentioned in WOS so it’s more likely the latter 4 will come first

Toby just adds another engine to Thomas’ branchline whereas the main line is pretty sparsely populated at the moment

Once again, Ian, dead-on points. It does feel like the Main Line is in desperate need of more engines. While the branch lines could definitely benefit from additional characters—perhaps bringing Daisy and Mavis in alongside Toby—I think branch lines can function reasonably well with a smaller roster.

The Main Line, on the other hand, feels far more limited right now. There are so many opportunities for variety that just aren't being utilized. Henry could be running the Flying Kipper, hauling heavy goods trains, or even taking over express duties as a nod to his role before Gordon became the primary express engine. Edward could handle excursion trains, mixed traffic services, or other duties until his branch line is eventually added.

It would also be great to see visiting engines such as Spencer appearing from time to time, assuming guest characters are something Dovetail is willing to explore. Beyond individual characters, the biggest issue is that the Main Line simply needs more traffic and operational variety. Additional passenger services, freight workings, and a larger locomotive roster would make the railway feel much more alive and give players far more to do.

As much as I'd love to see more branch line content, I think the Main Line should be the priority right now. That's where the game feels the most lacking, and expanding it would have the biggest impact on gameplay and long-term replayability.
