so another update has just dropped, and whilst it fixes lots of dlc you’ll notice that most of it is dtg stuff, as well as some aabs products. but the big question is still WHY are these dtg products getting so many updates and third party dlc is still being left to rot?!!! the absolute cashgrab gbr 802 has just received improvements, meanwhile MAC is STILL WAITING for fixes!!! same goes for the 86 and a number of other routes and locos!! as paying customers we should expect that every dlc we buy gets its fair share of tlc, not for them to be treated unequally depending on the publisher!! this has been a problem for a while now but especially since there’s more third parties and you’d think dtg’s approach to what gets updated is going to push some of them away eventually, and who could blame them? absolutely unbelievable that this problem is still happening, but it seems as long as dtg get their stuff fixed eventually, there’s no issue!!!!
There not duplicates just FYI, they are full and reduce TT options (B2C doesnt have the word reduced in there)
No fixes for the save game crash on the GWE timetable though. Better than nothing but very selective, seems the focus mainly on WCMLS and the AABS B2C. I wonder if that's because Trent Valley is imminent... But I feel for the other 3P's who have submitted fixes, presumably passed QA then get left out. Given the probably not inconsiderable take DTG receive from sales of 3P items, that ought to afford some priority in he pecking order.
Reading the patch notes, I got the impression that the reduced timetables were mainly about removing AI/static trains to improve performance.
No thats not a fixed solution! They will calculated in the background and it will cost Ram. Turn off layers is not a solution to reduce problems. This option makes ai more hidden than completely removed. Thats what Matt already has explained. It will do a little but not the same as fully removed from the map.
unfortunately that only removes them visually, as far as the game is concerned they’re still there taking up space
Yep, and sometimes one of the locos in the list will be subtly broken, like the headcode discs can't be altered, or the route indicator switch isn't clickable, and it's position changes depending on the route.
I doubt it's entirely Dovetail's fault. The QA backlog down to them, yes, but there's a strong bias towards new DLC / recently-releases DLC over older DLC which things such as MAC now, firmly, are. Although if this weren't done we'd probably not have another DLC for another year. 3Ps, I would guess, operate on thinner margins than Dovetail and, thus, can't really spend all that much time on fixes/upgrades that they don't get paid for. This won't apply to all but it'll apply to most. Dovetail can afford to do that which is why they have more fixes readily available and is probably why it feels like Dovetail do more in the way of fixes.
Turning off layers is only useful if you can actually load the route in the first place. If your game crashes immediately during the loading process, then you can’t disable anything. That’s why the option to switch them off isn’t exactly a success story.
Most of the 3P updates we're waiting for have already been produced and handed over to DTG, in some cases months ago, so that's definitely not the issue. I would even argue the 3Ps are (evidently) more concerned about being seen to fix things than DTG are... JB
It’s a shame because originally they launched the feature confidently as a way to remove layers for performance reasons if your machine isn’t capable enough. And it didn’t really help all that much in the end or else they wouldn’t bother with making and testing reduced timetables as fixes.
I have to agree with Jivebunny on that. For example, TSG handed over the update for the BR 145 Expert to DTG a long time ago, and apparently it was supposed to be released today. But the updates for the BR 145 and the Medway Valley Line were removed from the list today. It makes me wonder what DTG is holding back for so long when it comes to updates from third-party developers.
It’s a funny situation, as updates are taking priority over others, others being the more critical updates that need addressing. Hate to bring it up again, but nothing from ATS, really… where the heck is the class 90 and MAC improvements? I’d be very concerned if we don’t see any ATS updates in the next patch. I’m happy to see B2C and the 805 get the much requested blurry texture and memory optimisation that it so badly needed though.
Nice to see B2C getting the love it deserves, but would have been nice if some of the improvements (most notoriously the issue with the brakes and E Brake( were back ported to the WCMLS version as well.
I was hoping we would get more wagons, or at least FL livery JNAs but nice to see the MLA wagons coming to the game, great opportunity to mod them in NR colours and the 70 to colas livery for even more modded TT options!
