I already mentioned this in a previous post, but I have a mate in the dense rural part Cornwall. I remember him telling me he gets around 10mb speeds.
I keep telling him to migrate, but he never listens ;)

I live in the middle of nowhere in the cairngorms Scotland, we got FTTP this year but before that we used to pay about £90 a month for a wireless form of internet, got about 80mbit down and up when it 1st launched about 6yrs ago, but towards the end we were getting about 500mbit down and 60mbit up, when we 1st moved in tho we got about 768k down and about 56k up on the old DSL phone line broadband, thank god for fibre tho now i get 900mbit down and about 110mbit up.

That’s impressive and hell of an upgrade ;)
It good to see you have the options now for better internet speeds.

I’m currently on a 150mb which is good enough for me, at one point I did want to upgrade to a 500mb connection, but for plusnet (who I’m on) don’t offer this with a landline. I’ve never heard anything so silly in my life.
So unless I change ISP i won’t be able to get those type of speeds. I do download a lot so having a fast connection is important (and no it’s not pirate music or films) I would never dream of doing that ;)

Aye can't really fault the scotish government for what they have done to get folks hooked up to decent internet, most of us round here are on what they call an EO line (exchange only, so basically a single line direct into the exchange) most of the main towns and villages have been hooked up for a couple of yrs, we were kinda losing hope at some points, not to mention the voucher scheme they ran, to pay for the installation costs of private based ISPs like we used to have, i think our install cost was something like £3k, but never cost us a penny, the only thing you had to agree to was staying with that provider for 5yrs i think it was, regardless of other internet opportunities arising.

Satellite doesn't care how far out you live.
Not sure if any of you have cell phones either, but that can be quite fast these days too.

    Nope.
I’ve installed one single route, the one I’m playing on.
Plus a few DLCs to get AI traffic on that route.
    24GB in total.
You know, I’m not a collector, just a player ;)

The guys at Firefly Simulations have given me most of the things I asked for in TSW and have fixed or masked most of the things that annoyed me in TSW.
All the other routes pretty much disappointed me. Perhaps with the exception of Cathcart Circle Lines, which is actually quite playable in its latest version, provided you turn a blind eye to its missing features and bugs. There’s also one route that’s sitting in the queue waiting for some AI traffic to appear, but I’m prepared for the possibility that it might never happen.
And who knows, maybe I’ll install a second route soon: the South Eastern Main Line from Firefly Simulations...

That's fair. To be honest my install on my laptop is pretty big even though it's just for the sake of allowing me to make a timetable for a specific route for a specific era.

One of the things I’m planning after my A to Z playthrough is some triage. Cane Creek is already gone. Cajon ought to go (what’s the point of it when I’ve got Run 8), but of course hindered by locos and rolling stock layering on to other routes I might want to keep. Ditto Cardiff City, but of course need to keep around for the 150 and 153 layers elsewhere.

people when dtg don’t fix the game
people when dtg do fix the game

they obviously deserve a lot of criticism for their approach to tsw in the last few years but come on, they literally can’t win when people say things like this

    Another massive 33.9GB update today

l turned on my PC ready to play the game as l had plenty of time on had and it went into the latest update which will take about 13 hours to load. So bang goes my chance of playing today. I went to GeForce Now and found they had stopped the game because of the update so went to play TSW5 on GeForce having removed it from my pc and xbox to free up space and the GeForce Now version has blurry textures making it impossible. Oh well rubbish daytime tv instead it is then.

I had to stop it as it was slowing my redownload of MSFS2020 from the Asobo server to a crawl. The slightly OT aside there, being the annoyance I had downloaded most of the cgl files last night with about 20 Gb remaining, but when I fired it up again this morning decided there was 58Gb’s worth to download.

Okay, so I turned off shader pre-caching and thought the problem was solved.

But today I got a proper patch from DtG with a fair list of changes and fixes. As usual, there aren’t any fixes for any of the routes I own, but I’m not making a big deal out of it. The update is definitely necessary for most of you, so no problem.

Except that after this patch, my only installed route disappeared from TSW. I tried reinstalling it (a mere 9 GB to download at 75 Mbps, even though my internet connection is capable of 600 Mbps), but TSW still doesn’t recognize that this DLC is installed.

It reminds me of the old days when I used Windows and every Tuesday I’d tremble in fear of the Tuesday Patch, wondering what would stop working this time and if my computer would ever boot up again. Ah, memories. I was so young :D

I don't want to raise even more Righteous Anger against me, but by any chance, has anyone else had any DLC disappear from TSW after today's patch?

If it's Medway Valley, yes I've read something on Discord just now. Looks like the pak file has inadvertently been moved out of the DLC folder and up into the root 'Train Sim World 6' folder. Cut and paste it back into the DLC folder and you should be fine. Failing that, DTG are apparently onto it and will issue a hotfix once they work out why it happened.

Current thread no.1 - There weren't enough fixes with the latest update.
Current thread no.2 - There are far too many fixes with the latest update.

I'm thinking of starting a thread titled "I'm ambivalent about the size of the updates". It's about time people like me can have a chance to speak up.

Instead of continuing to crack jokes, take a good look at how things went.
Until April, they continued to release DLCs like crazy.
Of course, they weren't properly polished.
    That's a fact.
Now it seems that with the updates, which are due, DTG is doing extra work or doing someone a favor.
Some users should use their brains and not buy these DLCs at launch.
Also because, to be honest, when a user buys a low-quality product (and clearly sees that it is), DTG might respond (and rightly so) that the DLC was that state and you accepted it as it was.
    Seen and liked, essentially.
For example, I remember very well that TSG announced that the BR 145 EL would not have active suspension.
So they clearly stated the state in which this DLC was released beforehand.
If I then buy it and complain, I'm sorry, but it's my fault.

l have waited all day for this update to complete and there are now errors to three downwards, namely Riviera Line, Advanti Class 390 and Dresden to Reisa. I will have to uninstall these and reinstall overnight. Typical DTG too big an update and l wish they would do one at a time and no wait until there are loads to do at once.

Medway is the only playable route?
Not sure how I’ve enjoyed nearly 300 hours on TSW6 without owning that route then.
The things you read on the internet…

Certainly Medway is an excellent route but I couldn't stick to one route, I would soon get bored.

My favourite period is BR blue, but I don't think I could live with just the JT routes (including the two unreleased ones) and not play anything else, unless they covered the whole country with BR blue!

This thread, like several lately read like a bad Ealing comedy!

You should try playing TW Warhammer 3 some of their updates are hugemungus because on major ones they insist on reinstalling the whole darn game and it’s a whopper!

    I didn't express myself clearly. I apologize.

The Medway Valley Line is the only playable route in TSW for me.
It's the only route that meets my very specific expectations: to simulate the work of a train driver as realistically as possible.

On other routes, I feel like I’m playing with a children’s electric train set, as they lack many of the operational elements involved in driving a train. While searching for stuffed dinosaurs hidden under the platforms doesn’t amuse me. Sorry. The numerous bugs and missing features in the other routes spoil the whole game for me. Sometimes the sounds are so bad, it’s as if a five-year-old were pretending to be train wheels clattering along the tracks by banging a spoon against a pot. Anyway, I don’t want to start that whole list of complaints again. I’d rather go and play something enjoyable.
