I hope I won't have to wait that long.
But we also have driver versions for AMD. I suspect things are better with one of the older versions.

Ah ja the latest one. This has nothing to do with the driver. This is a route error. Other routes are fine.

    Hi,
I use the Ultra setting and I'm very happy with it. There are just some flashing shadows when the sun is low like in the morning and in large train stations. Is there a way to reduce this?

Can you explain what this means for older TOD3 routes? Should I be using TOD mods to make older routes TOD 4 or not?

I means this mod works with TOD3 routes and keeps them TOD3. As cool as the TOD4 element is, none of the lights or emissives work correctly which makes the routes long term unplayable using those mods.

FWIW I have a major update to this mod in the works at the moment.

    A question for you JetWash.....

The Glossop route and MAC route share the same Godmode .ini info. Is it possible to split them somehow so I could turn some settings down for the MAC route with it being a more intensive route?

I guess what i'm saying is how do you add info for a route without using an existing preset?

You can change the text in the text box within each route's selection.

But that would change it for both routes that use that route selection. I only want to change the settings for one of them. ;)

Each route should be able to be selected from the drop down menu.

The route identifier is the same so there’s nothing I can do about it unfortunately. Sorry.

But as I’ve already said Glossop and MAC use the same entry….. MAC doesn’t have its own entry it defaults to Glossop hence the question which Jetwash has answered for me.

Can someone please help me remove those ugly 2d clouds?
I added lines from the ini for the clouds, the 3D clouds became beautiful, but this low-resolution love appeared.

This mod already does that, although I haven’t got rid of them entirely

Can you please specify what lines are needed for remove those 2d clouds?
Or maybe there are some lines to increase the resolution (if it is not the maximum one) for the texture?
I kind of like the idea of high clouds, but I really don't like the implementation, or rather the resolution.

Could someone update me on what to set V-Sync to in game and/or on the Nvdia CP, when using Lossless Scaling?
Its been a while since I used it and I think I have LS itself setup correctly, just not sure about V-Sync.

    Thanks in advance.

What kind of GPU do you have? For the most cards you do not need LS.... Set the framerate limiter to 60fps and do not use v-sync.... Its not needed when you use the fps limiter. For me the most stable gameplay you can have. LS is a big lie and it does nothing special for TSW!

I have a 5090. The reason I need LS (or Nvidia SM) is that I can't always reach 60fps, and I need 60fps for when I'm recording game play. I'll try your suggestion on turning v sync off tomorrow when I get back from work.

WTF... A 5090 and then using LS.... I can only laughing.... You have the best card on the market.. LS is for people with lower end PCs that can not reach the best FPS... You have a GPU like a rocket.... Please do me a favor and stop using this software...

Laugh all you want, but a 5090 and TSW, not always 60fps. Especially when using the Beast version of this mod. Anyway your suggestion on turning off v sync worked, thanks.

V-sync it's not only about FPS cap, it's also anti-tearing feature. If you have a display with free-sync, you can enable it in display menu, otherwise use V-sync.

That wasn’t what I meant… With a 60 fps limit you don’t need V‑sync or free-sync, because you never exceed your monitor’s refresh rate. (I hope nobody has a monitor that have a lower refresh rate than 60hz nowadays)

If you expect that you better stop playing TSW... TSW will never be 100% constant 60fps.... Thats not possible due to how the game is build. You always noticed a small portion of loading/stutter

Tearing can appear on any FPS which differs from the screen refresh rate. If FPS drops below 60 or rise above it(on display with 60 Hz refresh mode), you'll likely get choppy frames. Enabling frame sync will help prevent this.
The author initially said that FPS drops below 60, under such conditions frame sync is needed(V-sync or freesync).

Where did you get the information from that he have a 60hz monitor?

I have never seen screens with a refresh rate below 60(except for old TVs). So it's just an example, insert any numbers and nothing will change.

Yeah but you need a higher fps amount then the amount of Hz that you monitor delivers to get tearing... In other ways its not possible so when you maximize your fps to 60 you never come above you're monitor Hz. It's not a magic program to get better FPS or more stable gameplay when you activate v-sync. Its only prevent tearing

Note also that if you run borderless full screen it goes through Windows DWM which adds its pseudo screen sync which often overrides other in game / control panel / monitor settings

If you have a 5090 why are you even using LS now?

Nvidia launched Smooth Motion last year for 40xx cards and above which does everything LS scaling did but built in on the card/firmware.
Just enable it forTSW in the Nvidia App.

My wife's laptop, when connected to a monitor, strictly limits the screen refresh rate to 50Hz at a resolution of 3440x1440. The monitor could be larger, but...

Seconded, Smooth Motion is superb. I've enabled it for TSW on my 4070 Ti Super, I've locked the game to 50fps so I'm getting a very nice 100fps for the most part.

This is old news I’m afraid, and something that’s been tested and adjusted a million times over. The mod is not to blame for default behaviour.

That command is in the Birmingham to Crewe preset, but it is set at 0.1. Any less than that causes insane shadow flickering at some of the stations, and I’ve seen that happen with it set as high as 0.09. It’s up to you what you set, I would prefer it to be set to 0.001 (as low as it can possibly go and as it is on most routes) but it makes the experience borderline unusable at a number stations, with New Street itself being the worst offender. In the latest version of the mod I’ve just removed the command entirely for that route and left it default

Obviously if you do as suggested and add that line then you will have a duplicate command which will cause issues of its own. If you wish to change it you need to edit the line in the requisite preset.

ps In the two pictures you are different distances from the AED, so of course the shadow will draw differently.

Ah thanks i have seen it now. Then i have missed that! :) And no i'm not blaming you're mod in anyway :) Is it possible that this line is added in the 6.1 version? And not before? Maybe i have missed a version...

It’s always been there but previously I used much lower numbers for it. I moved it to the main ini file and set it to 0.01 because I’d been seeing these flickering shadows on a number of routes (oddly it seems to be at it’s worst with any route with WCML in the title, but that is not exclusive). Having thought about it some more I believe it’s to do with light baking, because it always happens at stations that are baked.

Anyway, on the routes where 0.01 cause this flickering I had increased the number until I no longer saw the problem occurring then added that to the ini for that specific route.
